Cat dealer tech here. break in mode is 2 stages, first stage of the unit life is .3 hours starting from first start up 6500 rpm engine limiter and shit loads of oil. stage 2 is the remainder of the break in period 2.7 hours where fuel and oil is richer but no rpm limiter For some reason you have to push reverse hard on some 858s and not on some others. you want 8100-8200 rpm as per cat service manual stock weights are 62 grams for 6000-8000 ft, I think the chart might be off since we put 66s (wich is what calibration sheet says) in for people at 3000-6000 and they are under revving Brake rotor rattles are common on catalyst as they have a snap ring on the rotor side not the nuts the old ascender had, nuts are now on the belt drive side, check and make sure they don't back off also anyone flaming this guy for not being impressed with it off the rip, for the price they charge for these things people are allowed to have criticisms.
That might be it. waiting to get new weights, I bet your right on about them. Had 12 new sleds and none have been this far off That BOG though, hope plugs fix it
Mine was feeling great for the 1 mile I rode it😂 it was wanting to pick up the front end. I'm very satisfied with the throttle response and power and I'm not out of break in
Hey Josh. I’m also Josh love cats been riding and racing cats since 2003. I could hear ur 858 soon as u hit it I knew ur rpm’s not right. Iv owned many cats most the time there spot on. But Iv had a few I really had to work on make right. Hopefully u get everything sorted out and ur a happy man. Cool video was fun just watching the new 858 even though it sounds disappointing lol!! Live in the east so Iv never rode the single beam. Some people say they love it others hate idk. If I lived out west I’d but the riot I think maybe track swap it idk. U might like the single beam in right conditions idk. Good luck
Was it brand new? I’ve got a buddy that just got one and the dealer said it won’t rev out initially with how they have break in set up. I’m not sure how true that is.
Never had a new sled run this bad out of the box, the poor handling is more about holding a wheelie on marginal snow. But it won't do one so that doesn't matter
Pretty sure you shouldn't be going WOT when it's brand new. The owners manual says that it adds a lot of extra fuel for 18 minutes, and then reduces that for three hours. After that it's considered broken in. Might be good to set your shocks before you ride. FWIW mine is working just fine.. reverse works fine. First ride is next weekend. And I won't be revving the piss out of it.

Brake In mode bro , know what ur doing
To break in rings ya gotta hammer on the throttle. If ya break the motor ya want a whole one not just parts
Yeah you set the rings hard send it!

It’s almost like you are trying to make it look like it’s no good
I threw in the positive alpha handling, that was new for me
typical artic cat 😂

Me too.
I have all the stuff for the twin rail swap
stock exhaust or untested can?
FWIW at 32 miles its still running stupid rich on fuel and oil
All stock, 60 percent of my problem is probably a couple grams off
One of the only bad reviews I’ve seen. Hopefully gets better for you
Thanks me too, I'll never financially recover from this
@ haha you’ll get her running good in no time, trust the process
@@joshkoltes So if a snowmobile price is something your will never recover from why would you do it, especially first year out!
@R1Kyle it's just an expression
@@joshkoltes OH I get it,
Stupid is as stupid does.

My dealer said it should rev as it passed that time.
Ski doo ski doo ski doo.
Got one, I'd say this handles better but runs worse than the gen 5
The new cat sounds lazy
It's in break in mode
Idk man my khaos did not sound lazy in break in mode.
the sleds in break in first off and second its a mountain sled so its not gonna handle as well as u want on trails.
Never had a new sled run this bad out of the box, the poor handling is more about holding a wheelie on marginal snow. But it won't do one so that doesn't matter
Its in break in mode , it will not fully rev so idiots dont over rev it new, once you hit about 400 miles it will really wake up
400 miles? So it'll run right in 2035

Gotta pin it to seat the rings
@@joshkoltes A few short bursts would be a good thing IMO. Did your RPM's come up after 30 miles?
@MikeM-u9x no, well evey once and a while but not like it's supposed to. At the end you see it starts cutting out real bad
Take it back to dealership
Your funny, you drivin?
So do you love your new arctic crap 💩
