I’m not a cat guy personally but wouldn’t it be sucking hot air all the time being right next to the exhaust just kinda wondering if that would make a difference
The intake is not technically right next to the exhaust, they did however change the intake so it's no longer part of the nose where they had tons of issues with snow ingestion. These guys are idiots just trying to sell sleds and are talking out of their asses.
None of them do. It comes with a clutch tool to change your belt. But no manufacturer comes with a spare belt, at least where I'm from. I've bought numerous new sleds and never got a spare belt.
Some cool changes, but with it still having the monorail I don't see a lot of guys grabbing it over a Ski-Doo or Polaris. If I could have gotten a decent amount of money out of my nearly new 22 alfa I'd be on a Polaris 9r or Ski-Doo summit expert turbo. This monorail is way to unpredictable and ride kinda like a dirt bike with a flat tire. This sled should come with an option for a twin rail. Especially for guys who like to jump a lot.
Say this all the time in the cat groups but it's an echo chamber and nobody wants to listen. They just want to circle jerk about how great the monorail track is. It's only good in deep powder and the poo 3.25 track is just as freaking good in deep snow. Don't worry cat doesn't listen to customers or what they want so it wont happen and they will continue to bleed customers till they go into bankruptcy. The 858 should have been released 5 years ago and they should already have a turbo option, they are so freaking far behind. whoever is running that show needs to be fired as well.
@@robgoffroadone of the other catalysts also shit the bed on the trail up and guy had to rent a Polaris. Hopefully for cat this actually works out because they’ve been non existent for years now. They are damn pricey tho for a NA sled.
@@janandersson143 ya I guess they had a refresh in 2017 but that seems like the last big change. The alpha skid has had some serious issues though, hopefully they did some work to strengthen it up because it was certainly the weakest point of the chassis.
The second you said the adapt clutch has had no problems and it's super reliable is the second I knew this video was bs. What rock have you been living under? The adapt is a pos that explodes at 100miles and bends cranks. Seriously kiss some more cat ass. The monorail is stupid as well, cat needs to offer a twin mtn rail! The engine is cool and the power valve redesign is pretty clever and was needed after the ctec2 power design failure. Hopefully this engine is a winner but only time will tell, let's see after this winter.
The adapt clutch is brand new. Not the problem child team brand clutch. And what about the old ctec was bad. It’s probably the most reliable 2 stoke out there right now.
@CCH-R it's not brand new, it's been a problem for several years now. You obviously don't follow the cat groups. Yes the team roller was a pos and the adapt was supposed to be the solution but that pos explodes at 100 miles. Their new bandaid is a steel spider, let's see if it pays off for them cotton.
Not quite. I rode one last year and HATED it. It's very hard to get up on one ski and the throttle is super twitchy. There is nothing balanced or neutral about it.
Bahhhhhhh hahhhh. Dont even bring up that Trudeau funded company that’s been taking extra government money paid by extra taxes. Skidoo💩💰🕳️😂. You can’t compare the catalyst ride over a G5 skidoofeeling..
Well they dont look like a ski-doo anymore do they? I think they look more like a Polaris. And with the engine so tucked in just beneath the driver it might be better to ride. Who knows. I had a Lynx Boondocker 4100 and moved to a Khaos 850 155. Felt strange for a mile or two. Now i really love the vertical steering instead of the leaning tower of BRP. Now i bought a used Axys from 2020. But i really like it.

I just picked up mine today... 858 154 3.0 ATAC model.
Awesome review!
Awesome job guys!
Thanks so much!
Came for a review and what a surprise….its Ken!
That sled look so good
Sooooo sick !!!
Would be cool to see a review similar to this on the Arctic cat XC trail sled
I wish your video gets millions of views because you have great content. Try running ads for your channel using some kind of system.
Best gas can out for the Catalyst ATACH system is the “Juice Caboose” by Backyard Bolt-Ons 👌🏻👌🏻

I think cat has run that setup for a long long time
The problem isn't the sled, its the high price that nobody can afford.
Those white glass frames have to be the worst thing I've seen since a Polaris Fusion.
Nothing bad as the 900 confusion lol!!
I wonder if anyone told him, he's old and grey. 😂
Dork!
From an old and grey guy.😂
If it wasn't for the cat sitting there I thought this video was from 2003
Guys the engine has been a “ lay down twin “ for a very long time they moved it back and down by building the engine mounts into the cases
🤣🤣🤣👍
My 2005 Firecat has a lay down engine. 😂 Nothing new about that
@ yup 🤣 it’s like people don’t already know that the laydown engine has been a thing from the past
No motor mounts lol Suzuki did intake and exhaust on the same side for cat well over 20 years ago
Why don't they come with a spare belt or a tool kit?
Don’t need it lol!!

My gen 5 did… I would have walked out if they didn’t give me a spare, same as a spare tire for a vehicle
@@joelsalmond1788none of them come with a spare belt. Your dealership must have thrown yours in.

How much does the sled weigh?
Around 450lbs.
Nothing about the new better stearingpost ?
If the engine is laid back how do you change plugs?
You pull the boot off and take a 5/8 plug socket and start turning it left.
@ Not if you can’t get at it
@@TheIrongutz How do you know you cant get at it?
@@janandersson143 I don’t know, that’s why I asked the question
@@TheIrongutz its easier to change the plugs on these the the doo turbo.
I like this arctic cat but i can t wait for the pro sledder youtuber who test every brand like muskoka freerider to compare it to the other brand
One of the guys in his group had a 600 Catalyst last year and they put a turbo on it. It ripped pretty good.

Agree.
@@CalgaryDynastar Its a gamble the first year. And Arctic has had the old chassi for 12 years. A pretty long time id say.

Really interesting to see you guys point out "new features" that have been on polaris sleds for 13 years.
Take your negativity somewhere else.
Neoprene belt…. I don’t know about all that lol
So how can they not have a Jerry can but ski doo does. That doesn’t make much sense
If you’re changing the belt, you’re pulling the hood anyways? Since when 😂

You will need that easy to remove hood. It's a Cat, it will be off constantly as it will be broken.
That and polaris has had their hoods and side panels come off that way since the pro chassis
Ran my last three cats to almost 10,000 miles with nothing but normal maintenance so
Arctic cats executives have really doubled down on the alpha when it clearly doesn’t work or sell. Ignorance at its worst.
LOL
there trying so hard to be a skidoo
