    GameCube had 60 fps, the extra content on PS2/PS3 was probably only originally animated in 30fps, but they could've fixed that or found a workaround

      I guess I should invest in an old copy of the GameCube version and a wii for upscaling

      This has nothing to do with the extra content, they completely overhauled the game back when they made the ps2 version because it ran much worse on it and changed from 60 to 30 fps. The PS2 games has always been a bad port but they keep reusing it because that version has the extra content. The gamelogic of these games is most likely tied to the framerate and since they dont invest a whole lot into the rereleases we get an upressed version of the PS2 game as nostalgia bait every few years and thats it. Please dont buy this garbage if you already have another version -.- Or at least buy it used so they dont get any money for it. 30 FPS was already a sad joke on PS3 but understandable because at that time the games didnt sell all that well. But now that they have become kind of mainstream its just an insult that they keep doing this. Even calling this a Remaster is spitting the customers in the face because its just the Steam version from 2016 basically. Presumably with all of its other problems besides the fps cap also still unpatched. You need community patches for the Tales Games since Bamco often doesnt fix their PC releases properly and its especially bad with this series.

      @@neopabo i wouldnt bother investing into a Wii, old SD consoles look terrible on new TVs. Just emulate the game on Dolphin. The games 3D stuff even looks better on Dolphin compared to the ..remaster.. since you can go way beyond 1080p if you really want to. No widescreen though. At least not if youre not a monster who stretches games from 4:3 to fit 16:9 etc.

    Supposedly the source code from the Gamecube version that ran at 60FPS has been lost. All remakes and remasters have been based on the 30FPS Playstation 2 port. Without the original source code, it's not really a simple matter to rework the PS2 port code to run at 60 FPS. I'm sure it could be done but I guess the money and time it would take is not worth the effort to the developers.

    • @LucianTheWorldGamer

      I knew that, but you did absolutely right to point it out. At the same time, I can't support a company that wants to put no efforts to bring an old game up to modern standards, while still charging 50 bucks for it, and removing a game from the previous compilation

    • @ISSO1407
      @ISSO1407 Год назад

      What are you talking about? The PC, XBox and Playstation versions are screwed up as well. They are 30 fps because Bamco is still using the source code from the PS2 version and the remaster is nothing but a lazy cashgrabbing hackjob. 30 FPS on PS3 was already a Joke all those years ago and its not getting any better over 9 years later. Symphonia 2 was a garbo game but at least it had a really solid 60fps cap. I havent really looked into it too much but the gamelogic is probably tied to the framerate and so it would be relatively expensive for them to get the game running well at 60 without problems. Since this isnt about delivering a quality product but milking nostalgia they instead just do the bare minimum and deliver this trash. This ..remaster.. is 7 years old at this point and was already a sad joke back then. At least on Steam you can use community patches to make it better though. I would not be shocked if they didnt even fix the other problems of this port besides the 30 fps cap, the PC version had a slew of other problems that never got officially fixed by Bamco and you still need the community patches to this day if im not mistaken. Pretty much all Steam Tales games are held together by the community patches, the official versions of all of them suck.

    As someone who hasn't played this game before - I was keen to pick this up.
    I was disappointed when I found out it's actually a downgrade compared to a PS3 port though - as much as it makes little difference to me it does make me feel iffy about picking it up outside of a sale

      @LucianTheWorldGamer  Год назад

      I agree, I didn't explain myself to well there. I meant that I won't buy it straight away (in fact, as of today, I didn't), and for companies the first months or so are extremely important, because the more time passes, the more are the chances for people to buy it second-hand (which of course, companies don't want). So yeah, I meant that I will buy it eventually, just at launch and possibly second-hand

  • @JaredTVW
    @JaredTVW Год назад

    I will agree that the bugs notated by users is discouraging, but so many people are complaining about it not being at 60 FPS and sure, more FPS can change a user experience, but it by no means breaks one’s immersion in this game.
    I don’t care how old the game is, the 30 FPS could have been changed due to the extra content the PS2 version included. And I’m sure many users prefer having more content than better frame rate in an old game.
    And while I get that there is a version you can play on PS3 with two games, this is the superior game, in my mind. Did people complain when Nintendo released FFX on switch for it also not having the sequel? Are we entitled to receiving the same things we did before, just because?

    • @LucianTheWorldGamer
      @LucianTheWorldGamer  Год назад

      I agree to some extent, I myself prefer have more content than better frame rate, usually. But in this case, we are talking about a 20 years old game, and the way I see it, it's the developers job to give us the best of both worlds, the 60fps of the GameCube and the bonus content of the PS2 version. Cheers, thanks for passing by!
