      Really cool to hear you break down the drum parts and how you catch what the drummer does to throw you off. It shows you have a good understanding of not only guitar and bass, but in rythm and music in general. I'm a progressive drummer myself it is easier to lock down and count whatever smart pattern this guy has arranged. But even for me, there are times I need to listen several times before I understand what the heck is going on!!! Nice work!

    I"ll be honest. I LOVE Jinjer, but I every song there are always 1 or 2 sections that I struggle with 'getting'. Then after 2 or 3 listens I finally get it - and then I can't get it out of my head! Then once you get it, there are so many little subtle things they throw at you. Like that last time that section plays at the end of the song, I can't help but hear Eugene just tearing it up. Anyway, great reaction as always. So many others focus primarily on Tati (and she is amazing), but I really enjoy hearing your insights on the instruments and composition. Kudos!

    You should do the Tatiana one take of this song. I think it would be perfect for you to be able to focus only on her. I am like you and always focus on the instrumentation and vocals only as a melody, but that version really showcases how unbelievable her talent is! 🤘

  • @rick5908

    An interesting side note on their play with time signature is if you watch good vocal coaches, say charismatic voice, they pick that up quickly and marvel at how difficult it is for a vocalist to stay on point with the signature changes and Tatiana makes it seem easy. Whole band is meshed and pure professional.

    I wouldn't say Vlad throws me off more than normal in this song. That's not saying he doesn't though, but rather that he always does. I can't even count the number of times I have hit my air-snare completely off Vlad's beat. Really love the way he plays.

Of course I was blown away like many on Tatiana's vocals but always thought the other musicians were amazing and it's great to see an expert give them props. I'm not in a position to donate to your channel but will absolutely do so when I can. Keep up the great work! Very cool blend of genres by Jinjer and a great reaction as always. Can´t wait for Retrospection, top banger and a favourite! It has something like a very eastern-european sound to it, I can´t really put my finger on it, maybe you can decompose it better! And like people already suggested, try "Who´s Gonna Be The One" live. The audio is great so you won´t miss much from the studio version and it´s a hell of a performance from the four of them, everyone has a spot to shine on it. Great stuff man, keep up the great vids. There are plenty of Jinjer songs where it’s fun to play “guess where Vlad will place the snare hits.” Aside from the reggae bits, the biggest reaction I had to this song on first listen was trying to decipher that “chorus” section and find the placement of those snare hits. Vlad has a very unique clock and makes the resulting music super interesting.

    The part in particular you were having a hard time with finding the groove, I never really honed in on that part of it, but my ears as a guitar plyer went strait to the cool sounding cord choices and melody Tatiana does over the top there, those two things always stood out to me first. The beat/drums always melded into the background for me. That part of the song was always about the textures and melody.

    I find the "nod" to not change at all throughout the song, but im nodding to the guitar during the part that you were confused by. i think it takes over the beat during that part then goes back to bass and drums for the rest. maybe? commenting on a musician's channel always makes me wary cuz what do i know honestly lol

    I was first attracted to JInjer because of the band and their unique sound. I wonder if it is because they are from Eastern Europe and are somewhat divorced from what is considered "traditional" in western Europe and the States. I recognized Tatiana as a great vocalist but I almost think of most vocalists as different from the musicians. Singers sing and musician's play. I've come to regard Tatiana as a true musician and artist as are Roman, Vlad and Eugene. "Awe"...

    Another solid analysis of a Jinjer song- good stuff.
    Not sure if I'm just being super-picky cos I listen to these thru a discrete Creative soundcard & a decent pair of Sennys, but in this one the levels from yer mic seem a bit shouty, & then whatever noise gate you're running it thru is quite distracting. Like I say tho, it's probably just me, so feel free to ignore my moaning! LOL
    All the best from sunny Dundee as always. :)

    • @JWSoundworks2
      @JWSoundworks2  3 года назад +2

      Yeah man, I've been experimenting with my mic recordings. I bought a new rode "podcast" mic recently and I'm struggling to find the sweet spot with it. For some reason it wants to be rode (no pun intended lol) hard. Like, I need to have the input on my interface at pretty much MAX otherwise it doesn't pick me up properly. And so it's kind of all or nothing. I'm also having to use an aggressive noise gate as the heat in my room is so unbearable that I have a fan running incessantly during the video that is wild loud. You'll find the next series of reactions all suffer the same fate, unfortunately (as I managed to batch record quite a few over the weekend). I haven't given up on trying to improve it though!

I really would like to know how that guy can do such a variety of different things with both hands and feet simultaneously, while being completely counter-intuitive at times. :D
    13:46 - I'm almost 100% positive that Vlad doesn't resort to samples. He doesn't need to, really, his drums sound so naturally good. What you're hearing might simply be the result of the conjugation of 2 or 3 snare mics.
