In 1979, the title song Spectral Mornings was a gracious goodbye to late 60s and 70s music, ideals and spiritualy, only Steve Hackett and Peter Gabriel never gave up on those ideals and that spirituality, which is why they're both still great musicians and people. It's their integrity and consistency that makes them great, and also Jon Anderson and David Gilmour. They don't exploit the good old times, they keep them alive, and God knows it's needed.

I saw his gig last week in Oslo. A was accompanied by a ladyfriend who had never heard of Steve and wasn't much into Genesis.
During the "Firth of Fifth" guitar solo she grabbed my arm and whispered:
    "This is SO beautiful".
And now she bloody well knows who Steve Hackett is.

Great to see Nick Magnus and Steve s brother, who after this record, and later, recorded solo albums with Steve playing. Spectral Mornings did receive a lot of airplay here in Panamá, and when Steve played a concert here, he did one song from it.

Such a great album. I've been a Genesis fan (pre-pop) for decades, but never really gave Steve's work much of a listen until the past few years. What the hell was I thinking? This was one of the first solo albums I listened to and have been a huge fan of Steve's work since. We're so amazingly fortunate that Steve is still out there putting out new music and touring. If you get a chance, go see his shows. You will be amazed.

It is no nice to meet Mr Nick Magnus again after all these years, thanks for sharing this and have him invited! Loved all of his sounds at the Musikladen gig on german tv in 1978 (the red shirt gig as I cal it) specially his work at the optigan vst choir voices and the Mellotron strings along mostly all (deep) thick synths lines for the ¨Voyage¨ and ¨Spectral¨ songs. Cheers

I saw this tour at Alex Cooleys Ballroom in Atlanta. Fantastic show. In the front, where I was standing it was extraordinarily LOUD. My ears rang for days afterward. We were standing at the entrance before the show, in order to get to the fore and Mr. Hackett walk up to go in for the sound check. We asked if he was going to play Horizons on the acoustic and he said "why certainly, we have lots of guitars! Well, cheers then!" Very pleasant, as one would imagine.

The intro of “Spectral Mornings” is the most beautiful piece of music ever. On stage in the early 80s, a solo spotlight on Steve playing the introduction to the piece, accompanied by falling snow was a visual feast.

40 years ago! - where have the years gone. I was lucky enough to be sitting on the floor in front of Steve at his first UK solo gig in Cardiff Uni in 1978. His guitar tone at this time was superb and when the rest of the band played it was such a glorious sound. I have to say that even after all this time this is still my favourite Hackett album. By the way Nick Magnus is currently working on his new album - such a nice guy. Check out www.magnus-music.com

Thank you Steve... 'Spectral Mornings' and 'Please Don't Touch' were so very formative in my musical discoveries. Living in Anglesey at the time, hanging out with a friends 'garage band' with very varied tastes. Steve Hacket was my first visited concert in Liverpool, 40yrs ago (aged 17yr). Hope to catch this tour and relive soooo many good memories👌.

Not my first concert, but the first I actually wanted to go to and looked forward to seeing at the same age. Oxford New Theatre; centre seats third row of the stalls... . I remember John H really whacking his bass pedals and Nick Magnus in his YMCA/ChiPs police outfit... Then the glitterball during Spectral Mornings, a highlight in the pre-VariLight era. Also saw the 'Defector' and 'Cured' tour at the same venue - almost the same seats.

Great to hear the guys thoughts. I was a big Genesis fan even then and I remember hearing Spectral Mornings (the track) for the first time and not knowing who it was. It haunted me a bit that I didn't know who it was then one day I was going thru Steve's stuff in a record shop and saw the album and I was overjoyed that I'd, firstly found it and then that it was from a Genesis member. Perfect. As an album, nothing will ever beat Please Don't Touch, as innovative an album as I will ever hear.

I've been a great fan since the 70's and you sometimes look so stoic, then you crack a grin or a smile and it's clear to the audience that you really enjoy playing and you are very focused and always striving for excellence. I'm so glad you are still doing it and so full of life (not like those other three guys) I just wish you would treat us Americans to some shows. Wonderful! I had this album in my head travelling around USA on a Greyhound bus when I was 18. There where no portable sound systems at the time ( The sony walkman would come to market that year). I had bought the LP a couple of days before leaving Washington DC for a month on the road and listened to it at length for 48 hours. It was a joy to witness the beautiful countryside pass my window and remembering the great songs on this album. What was especially eched into my mind was "Spectral Mornings" with that high hat.

The songs and atmosphere are enduring with a warmth and charm that soothes and soars the soul all at once. The English touch and production values reached across the pond to us in America and touched our souls; and have remained. This insight into a classic, innovative recording has been long overdue - great job.

Crooked Hand Productions Yes please - pedalboard just the sort of thing. What else is Rob doing apart from wind, what is he playing on his keyboard? Who does Bass Pedals on each song. For Selling England for example, how do they forensically establish exactly who played what on it all those years ago, do they have the original recordings track by track, then how does that come together in rehearsals? Anyway, that's quite enough geekiness form me! Keep 'em coming, marvellous stuff.
