Long ago we used the "quarter" tap test to locate delaminations. Tap it with a quarter (25 cent piece US) & listen to the sound. (Any hard object will work). Yes, that was a very big job, but the board looks fantastic! Good on you saving a board that will provide a lot of fun rides for someone instead of going to the landfill!
Gotta say I was a bit skeptical when you said you were going to paint the whole board. But i am converted what a beautiful final product Very good job .👍👍
It's great that you explained the issues that you had, I learnt a lot. Also, using the foam to cover that before puttong the glass on it is something i want to try next one i do. What I would have done differently is to paint the black lines instead of masking them to see the original ones. The end result is much better than I thought at the beginning.
Mr. Russell! Great video, honestly my heart fluttered when I read ''expanding foam'' in your title and seeing you repair that delam put a big grin on my face! Is there a way I can get in touch with you (instagram, facebook?) or if you wanna shoot small kine ding repairs a message on either of those platfoms I'd love to have a chat with you! Great video and well done on the outcome, you earned yourself a new subscriber!
Yes mate certainly. Did you realise that it was your video on the racing Mal that inspired me to use expanding foam. I’ve learned a lot from your videos and advice from the ding repair Facebook page. I’ll be in touch
I’ve been searching for weeks for a full tutorial I could follow to guide me through a big project. This is so extremely helpful and informative. Thank you!! 🎉
Right on. Right on. I dig that blue and it came out ready to shred. Good on you, teaching your son about what you love. That's a privilege

Ecofoam 450 - 45kg /m3
Great job, looks awesome
Greg, I have used lightweight drywall mud to fill in and mold paddle boards I have shaped. It works really well is very economical.

Very good job .👍👍
Thanks. The paint still looks good even after a few surfs.

Thanks. I’m not quite sure what you mean regarding black lines. I used the tape as an outline for the spray paint
@@gregssurfboardrestoration I meant to paint the lines instead of seeing the original lines from underneath.
🔥
Foaming glue spritz with water as it dries. It won’t rise as much as two part foam
maybe you could have injected the foam through few drilled holes in the deck instead of re-fiberglasing the entire thing?...
Maybe a squeegee would have helped distributing the foam?✌️
When I used the pour foam I mixed for 20 seconds but it didn’t pour super easily not sure why. I used 1oz mixes per part a b.
Skip Frye?
You must place a plastic sheet over the curing foam and spread with your hands on top to flatten out
