@@BigFredddy68 Troy gave me these directions to do a Factory reset if you can't see the screen or move around...
Hold down on the button on the back of the box and at the same time plug in power. Once the bios screen displays let go of the button immediately. Then click the button until it goes down to factory reset. Then when highlighting that long press the button, release and the box will do a factory reset.
Is the Developer of Mouse Toggle for Android making and update to fix the problem on the ONN Google TV box. It does not work well.

Hi Troy, just finishing up this video as I was curious about the ONN device. I have the Chromecast with google TV 4K instead, and was wondering if this tutorial will work with that? It seems like with a few minor differences in hardware specs, they are the same device when it comes to software and overall functionality.

I was having issues after the latest update with sound disconnecting on my Chromecast 4k with GoogleTV. I decided to buy this device to test it and see how it performed in comparison. The picture quality of the Chromecast 4k (with Dolby Vision and not just HDR10) is far superior on my 4K TV. This device is not bad at all for the price.. But I am willing to reboot my Chromecast once or twice a day to reconnect sound than use this with HDR10 only.
I will probably give this to my daughter.
You know this box has a sound issue..it too will lose sound if you let it time out on a pause after 20 mins...found out the damn timer is set to turn off at 20 mins and screen afters black..resume and no sound till you reboot nice eh???
Fix is reset timeout to hr or two...
Screen still go black no lost sound..
So far so good on that front.

I tried a Rii i8+ mini Bluetooth keyboard with touchpad. Many of the buttons don’t work. I also tried an Ipazzport mini Bluetooth keyboard with touchpad, and it was similar. They’re not playing nice. What Bluetooth or 2.4ghz mini keyboards do you recommend with the Onn?

I have a question for you, I own a hisense u6hf 4k tv and recently bought this device. I'm wondering if I should leave always HDR on in the "match content dynamic range" setting? I'm assuming that means that it will always try to upscale thing to 4k even if they aren't available in 4k, wouldn't that make things look bad?
Troy (or anyone else) which of theses should I adjust if the pointer is moving to fast?
It takes me like 5 min of up and down, left or right to get on the button I want to click on.

Great content as always brother, My only issue on this box is that the screen is getting cut out on corners for 3rd party apps and you tube without a Calibrate display % option like the Firesticks have. Is there a solution for this? Happened on two of my Tvs
I have one of these and the remote died. Any recommendations for a replacement remote or should I just buy a new one?
When you go to install the mouse toggle, there's a warning that it doesn't work well with the new Onn box. I can install the toggle, mouse mode works. But the scroll mode will not.

Troy, you said "hit and miss". I just bought a 64GB San Disk 3.0 flasher, did the "Large Fat 32" on Rufus and I must be on the "miss" side because under Storage I see "Total Space" 59GB but "Not Connected". So my question if I can get an answer is how to get it connected??? ...🤔🤔🤔

Bought one of these boxes and went through this install vid (EXCELLENT TUTORIAL, thanks!) but when I got to the Wolf Launcher, everything got hosed. Was able to hover over apps in the Wolf Launcher app, but couldn't select, completely non-responsive, setup key no longer worked, couldn't back out to previous Home screen, and no way out of the buggy app since it was my new Home screen. Ended up having to do a hard reset on the box and start all over. Considered trying it again but since it took me 30 or 40 minutes to get to that point, just to lose everything, I decided I could live without it. All good now, running great with Tivimate.
Same thing happened with me

As the popularity of this device flourishes, it's likely to start getting Amazonesque and foisting reduced ability to customize it, along with shovelling ads to it.
I'd like to future proof this baby once set up and prevent updates from ruining things.

The RUclips app won't allow sign in and doesn't work with the shortcut button. Tried uninstalling/reinstalling updates to no avail. Any suggestions? Thanks Troy.

Hi Troy, downloader won't let me hoover over any of your apps in your store. Question how do I turn on mouse pointer from Google tv?
The Wolf app does not allow the mouse pointer to select any programs (the mouse pointer app was properly set up -- step by step). I was in a difficult situation where my only viable option was a factory reset. I am using everything but Wolf now and life is good.
How did u do the factory reset?
Agree. Wolf may not be the best tool at this point. There are other launchers

UPDATE: Troy everything worked until I launched Wolf…for some reason, it doesn’t allow for any inputs once enabled - this happened on both devices I purchased, and have no idea how to hard reset the box without using the on screen settings - any thoughts?

Wolf may not be the best LAUNCHER. Please read more on other options. After testing it's not WOLF, it's actually the LAUNCH MANAGER that will seriously mess up your ONN device.

Question: I have been using Kodi media streamer for many years on FireSticks and Nvidia I could keep all my units in sync by simply copying the .kodi data files and copy/paste into the Android/Data file on the new install. Have them up and running without much of an issue. On the Onn Google TV os android 12, I cannot view or operate on any files under Android/data. .It is the data files I wish to replace with any of my file managers, I use X-plore and others they all are being restricted. Says I do not have an application that allows this operation. I tried all my various file managers and all are a no go. So It appears Google TV with Android OS 12 at the moment is not allowing this feature. Major issue to me, as this was the easy way to keep all my units in sync. Anyone have a idea how to overcome this lack of operation on the Onn Google TV OS 12 which I just picked up today. Thanks in advance

If you’d had success with an external SSD drive with your ONN streaming box, can you please comment below with the brand of that hard drive as well as the size? Sometimes the brand makes a big difference whether or not it will work at all, and your input will save people a lot of hunting around. Thank you.
There is talk that there is going to be a newer version of the Onn 4k streaming box coming out, a (Pro version). I don't know what upgrades or newer features it will have. I hope it will have a usb port for more memory, easier access to download files, more onboard system memory, and quicker connect to wifi. I still like the original Onn tv streaming box though, but if the Pro version is even better i may buy that one also.

Hey Troy, I'm having issues with the USB otg cable - in Developer, under USB Cnfiguration it is set to "charging" - pretty sure it should be on a different option (MTP, PTP, RNDIS, Midi). I'm thinking it should be MTP? Any suggestions? TIA

Interestingly, the onn remote will only jump from the left side of troy tool box to the right side of the list. It will not go to center so I can download any apps.

Troy, I have been unable to open and run youtube tv even after the app loads. Are you familiar with this? When you click on either free trial or to log on, it just spins on loading.

I just got mine 2 days ago. Found a nasty bug. After pausing content and walking away from the box for minutes at a time the sound dies!!!
I cannot get it back no matter what till I restart the box..😢
Sound is set to a tv for now. I don't know if bluetooth sound be any different or not. Try pausing your boxes and wait 10 or 15 mins and resume the content to see if your sound works. Best fix for now if you must pause go to the home screen. I must add I was watching RUclips tv at the time I paused it. Next time I will force stop youtube tv and see if sound is back on...
My Wolf Launcher will not allow me to go back to google tv interface? Any help
I'm not getting any USB notifications. I had an extra 32GB San Disk 2.0 flash drive. I did the format on my PC, then downloaded Rufus. I did not see "Large Fat 32". You use the 64GB flash drive. Would that be the reason there is no notification on my Onn device??? I checked Storage in Settings and get nothing. It's after 1am here in the eastern time zone. I hope I can get answer so if I have to switch to the San Disk 64, I will pick one up later in the day...😉😉😉

I had a firetv stick 4k gen1 and I got tired of that GOD AWFUL UGLY UI!!! I got a custom launcher installed in like 15 minutes using adb, and removed and disabled all the junk. Although it benchmarks like 50 points lower in gpu and cpu than the 4k firetv stick, its a million times snappier likely due to less bloat and garbage. Also got buttons remapped, and soon I will add a browser and adblocker. This thing rocks!!

I've followed this video but I'm unable to get the box to recognize the flash drive. It's 32 gig and formatted as fat32.
It does appear that I bought the otg cable that was linked in your previous onn box tutorial. Don't know if that would be the issue or not.

I have Tivimate working on 3 fire sticks with no problems, but I can't seem to get the playlists to load. I've tried the same URL I used for the fire sticks but I just can't get it to work on the 4K Onn. Am I missing something?
I uninstalled Tivimate and reinstalled, entered my xtream url and it's now working perfectly. Don't know what I did wrong but it's all good now. Troy and Troypoint are awesome and I've got so much useful info and really appreciate all your hard work.

Thanks Salvatore, you can't change it to just Android TV. It already has Android TV and you can think of Google TV as the user interface. I would suggest using a 3rd party launcher.
Does this newer version of the ONN 4K box still utilize micro USB? Please tell me they've graduated to USB-C. I'd rather use a USB-C hub than an OTG device.
