  • 5G RAN Acceleration with GPU and DPDK - Elena Agostini, NVIDIA
NVIDIA Aerial is an SDK for building a high-performance, software-defined 5G L1 stack optimized with parallel processing on the GPU. Specifically, the NVIDIA Aerial SDK can be used to build the baseband unit (BBU) software responsible to send (Downlink) or receive (Uplink) wireless client data frames split into multiple Ethernet packets through radio units (RUs). In this talk we’ll deep dive into the Aerial 5G software architecture showing how DPDK libraries and technologies made possible its implementation exploring how several DPDK building blocks like eCPRI flow steering rules, GPUDirect RDMA, direct CPU - GPU interaction or accurate send scheduling, have been combined to achieve an ORAN-compliant 5G software implementation.
Accelerating Network Performance - The most popular kit to accelerate packet processing on a wide variety of CPU architectures Designed to run on x86, POWER and ARM processors, DPDK is a set of libraries running mostly in Linux userland, with a FreeBSD port available for a subset of features. www.dpdk.org/
