Replaced that oil feed tube along with the turbo and coolant lines at 213k miles on my 12 Cruze. On higher milage cars be ready for the banjo bolt to break off in the turbo housing when you try to remove it.

My 11 Eco has 240K and is leaking oil in so many places. Thanks for the video. This car just requires too much maintenance. I drive 1,120 miles a week.

That was round trip to a family gathering out of town. Mainly highway driving, using cruise control as much as possible. During normal commutes to and from work I get anywhere between 36-38mpg.
Yes it’s the turbo coolant return hose pipe. Do not take it to the dealer unless you have warranty on it or have hundreds or dollars to fork out. Mine was actually just loose , so I took the heat guard off it’s like 3 bolts and you can see the hose better. Tightened it back up and put a little clamp on it. It doesn’t leak anymore. But the turbos in these cars still worry me . A lot of people say they are junk, along with other parts that are made to break. I would buy both parts and watch this video and other videos and try and do it yourself. If not find someone who can help you. Or take it to a local Mechanic you can trust. Is your car overheating mine was just a steady drip, and I would make sure the car had coolant at all times before I found the leak.
Did the vehicle have very little power when it was making this noise? My car has lost power and the dealership is trying to charge me 1,600 for a new turbo. Much appreciated

We took it into the dealership they told us we really need to replace the charger Starting price $1000 before labor. I’m going to do this first and see if that’s what’s causing the check engine code.
I could really use your help. I am in the market for a new car and noticed a 2012 Cruz for $5400, does this sound right? and would you recommend this car? also how can i tell right off the back from test driving it that the Turbo would be messed up
I like the car, other than a couple small problems, it's been reliable. Check some pricing sites like Kelley Blue Book and Edmunds to see if the price is in range. You should be able to hear the turbo spool up, when is bad it may not make a sound or you might hear rattling. Also will be sluggish acceleration. There are videos on YT with good examples of failed turbos.

Look into the intake manifold pcv valve work around on here. It will throw the under boost code even though turbo is fine. Please, does anyone know what the black plastic part on the turbo where the small diameter pcv hose connects to.? It has 3 - t30 bolts connecting it. The plastic nipple broke off and have no idea to search for that part without the name.
Doubt it. Had similar error codes with my 2014, and dealer replaced my turbo under warranty. ~38k miles. www.cruzetalk.com/forum/25-gen1-service-issues/127034-replace-turbo-just-wastegate-actuator-non-warranty.html Used a "OBD2 Universal Car Engine Fault Code Reader Diagnostic Bluetooth Scanner Tool" and the Android Torque Lite app to monitor the turbo boost pressure when driving. I'm guessing the wastegate/actuator was getting stuck open and the engine would loose all power, due to low boost. After the car cooled off and restarted, it would be fine, but then fail again. Poor GM design.
@Gerald Gillum turbo underboost could also be from a pcv issue, which will not go away after replacing turbo. It is a common failure. ruclips.net/video/En4WO7DYsTk/видео.html
I got a CEL today after 35 mile drive. I notice the part you replace in thia video is leaking on my cruze. Is it possible replacing thia will fix the CEL? Also power of the car feels weak.
This is a bad spot for the oil feed line . once the car is shut off the heat soak is gonna dry out that oil sitting and not moving in that line. I wonder if its better to just leave the exhaust heat shield off . also maybe a couple of those spark plug boots or something to put on that pipe to keep it cooler.
I've replaced 3 turbos from the feed line being clogged. The newer lines have a heat shield, but I doubt it is effective. The aftermarket lines have two O'rings, instead of one. They can be had for $20. I recommend changing this line every 50k miles.
I been thinking about removing the heat shield cos it really just for your protection of your hands but it blocking air hitting a buncha important parts directly
I’ve replaced the PCV cover 3 times. A mom/pop shop did it the first time, three months later I took it to Chevy, then the third time I did it with my father. Still leaks oil and we’ve got an annoying chirping sound. Now we’re looking at the turbo system to see what in the hell is going on. It has 152,000 miles.
For around town or stop and go traffic, between 25-30mpg. When road tripping or mainly highway driving, between 35-42 mpg. I've gone 400+ miles before on one tank of gas before the low level light came on.
my bad, volume was probably down on my computer when I reset the volume during editing. trying to get rid of some of the background hissing that is associated with some microphones. Sounds great using headphones!
PB Blaster or WD40 let it soak, then probably most effective would be a small pair of vice grips to grab on to the banjo bolt head. worst case, also CAREFULLY heat up the turbo housing in the immediate area around the bolt to hopefully expand the metal slightly so the bolt can twist easier. Good Luck!
Yes, that's a Turbocharger Bypass Valve: Mechanical code. Mine threw this code a few weeks ago, turned out it was just a couple bad vacuum hoses on the backside of the intake manifold. Always check your vacuum hoses before you do anything expensive!

That slinky looking cover on the rubber hose with the clamp is leaking where it’s clamped. Is there a way to put a new piece of hose on that coolant line
Did you ever get an answer Robert for your question? I have the same problem
No, it is rubber hose to hardline hose connected via crimp fitting. You have to take the turbo off to replace it because it is behind the turbo
I snipped the end and stretched it and reclamped. If it fails I’ll just put a metal tee and add hose. Thank you!
Yeah, you just carefully cut the crimp and then attach a piece of heater hose with fuel injection clamps.
Exactly what I was looking for thanks!

How much liters leak oil?
Would i have the same problems with a trax?
If it has the same engine setup, then probably yes.

@@allen0088 Yep, exact same. Run away, or proceed with caution
I replaced it and it is still doing the knock noise. Please help!!!
what knock noise? keep in mind some clicking noise is natural with the motor due to the valve cover design.
Same
But you still have a check engine ?
Never had a CEL. I noticed the leak, and replaced before anything got worse.
What you're seeing at the end is the light relay BEFORE ignition. the car is not on yet
I got a CEL today after 35 mile drive. I notice the part you replace in thia video is leaking on my cruze. Is it possible replacing thia will fix the CEL? Also power of the car feels weak.
@@Toysoul1337 Negative battery Cable, Friend. (Replace it) 35$ for dealer, takes 5 minutes. If you let them doing your looking at $350+
This is a bad spot for the oil feed line . once the car is shut off the heat soak is gonna dry out that oil sitting and not moving in that line.
Wonder why they added the heat shield?
Probably to combat heat soaking, due to being so close to the exhaust manifold.
What error code was this fix for?
There wasn't one, It was visual leakage from the attachment point on the block.
great vid, good info; terrible audio editing.
My 19 Cruze has the turbo feedline in front of the heat shield.
The code P0299 went away after a very dirty air filter was replaced on my 2012 chevy cruze lt.
Really?
Chevy cruze. Every 3 months u have to fix it.😒😒😒😒
Story of my life. Water pump replaced, radiator reservoir replaced, turbo inlet line, pcv valve cover, still leaking oil can't figure out where.
@@slploudmouth check oil pan
I’ve replaced the PCV cover 3 times. A mom/pop shop did it the first time, three months later I took it to Chevy, then the third time I did it with my father. Still leaks oil and we’ve got an annoying chirping sound. Now we’re looking at the turbo system to see what in the hell is going on. It has 152,000 miles.
@@slploudmouth probably leaking from the gasket of the valve cover that were mine was leaking from and it kinda hard to see if it just seeping thru
Correct
Thank you brother
The new one is a bit bigger just needs to be bent to fit in right
That's what I've been hearing. They must have "updated" the part again
Gud video exelent my Chevy cruze needs work
Lmao same
Cant hear you hardly at all !!!!
OK. You replaced a leaking seal (slow leak at that). What does that have to do with the title of this video?
because its the oil feed line for the turbo? if slow leak develops into fast leak and turbo doesn't get oil. bye bye turbo.
Some people just have no clue!
What do u get for mpg?
For around town or stop and go traffic, between 25-30mpg. When road tripping or mainly highway driving, between 35-42 mpg. I've gone 400+ miles before on one tank of gas before the low level light came on.
had the same question when I saw the 41.2mpg on the dash
Can't hear you.
How do I install a blow off valve on my chevy cruze LT 2017
I thought my volume was low i try to hear something
my bad, volume was probably down on my computer when I reset the volume during editing. trying to get rid of some of the background hissing that is associated with some microphones. Sounds great using headphones!
JungleKing007 nice video man i do mechanic too n it helps me suscribe to my channel i suscribe urs
That T45 shredded the bolt what do I do now ???
PB Blaster or WD40 let it soak, then probably most effective would be a small pair of vice grips to grab on to the banjo bolt head. worst case, also CAREFULLY heat up the turbo housing in the immediate area around the bolt to hopefully expand the metal slightly so the bolt can twist easier. Good Luck!
JungleKing007 thx

3000 dollars? Wtf
@@williamraysv yep. 1600 in parts and 1400 in labor.
No way, even where I live in El Salvador (we use the same currency) U.S dollars. The mechanics here will not ask for too much money.
i know its a little late but is it possible to by the turbo yourself for $500 and get them to change it
Does anyone have p2261 code????
Yes, that's a Turbocharger Bypass Valve: Mechanical code. Mine threw this code a few weeks ago, turned out it was just a couple bad vacuum hoses on the backside of the intake manifold. Always check your vacuum hoses before you do anything expensive!

Noted, Thank you. If the YT editor allowed me to increase it, I would. For now, I can only suggest to increase volume to max or use headphones/earbuds.

The chevr cruze is junk I have a 2016 with 28000 miles on it to day 8.13.19 found out it needs a new turbo lonardtown cheve told me to day it will take 30 days to get new one in. Go buy a Ford.
The turbo is always cracked. Your getting scammed.
Are you sure it's the turbo? What are the symptoms?
My turbo went out with no sign of trouble service light just came on and then suddenly noises started lagging. The turbo is trouble on all Cruzes. GM needs to fo a recall on this part. It cost me $1400 to replace.
@@danbernethy494You dumbass! Chevy has a recall for the Turbo replacement! Stupid fuck!
