I'm on my second tattoo and I came across your video. Used the same products for my first and still using now for my second. Love your tattoo and how it looks. How do you cope with the itching? The only part I can't stand hehe
The itching is definitely the worst! For me, I've found that repeatedly tapping (not too hard though) the tattoo with two or three fingers helps with the need to itch.
I'm really late on this but I'm getting one tomorrow and I'm nervous on the healing process. Can I shower the day that I get it? Or what do I have to use to put on it?
Thanks for this Gretchen! I’m hoping to get my first tattoo in the next year or so and I’m actually more scared of the healing process than anything else! How do you take showers/baths? Do you need to cover them up?
Just An Average Unicorn Definitely no baths for I believe 2 weeks? You can’t submerge them in water in the beginning (no swimming and the like), but showers are fine. I’m that person who takes a really good shower the night or morning of a tattoo, so I can go without for the first 24 hours (just my personal approach). You have to wash a new tattoo minimum of 2-3 times a day, so a shower shouldn’t be bad, I just choose to do it in a sink to avoid water hitting it.
When I got my first tattoo, I wasn't prepared for ink raising up and washing away...so when I was cleaning it like normal and it started to do that, I freaked the heck out! I thought for sure I did something wrong and the tattoo was leaving my skin.
It can't technically wash off, but you can lose ink and it can fade really fast or become patchy. That's one reason why it's so important to follow tattoo aftercare provided by your artist. For instance, hot water can cause pores to open and ink to, essentially, escape from the skin, which causes patchy looking tattoos.
I'm getting 3 tattoos on Saturday so thanks for the advice
3 yrs later how did they hold up ?

Thank you! I’ll be using your tips! I was worried I’d wash the tattoo away or something stupid. Lol! Xxx
