Same. I have my lobes pierced, 2 in my left ear and 2 in my right ear. The 2nd one in my right ear just acting up when I change the earring. My piercer did it with a black bar to match it with my other ones. I followed the instructions, changed it to one of my hoops that never caused a problem to the other holes. I'm cleaning again and I just hope it heals.

My nose piercing did NOT heal the first round, and i was intensive about aftercare. It kept getting swollen and infected. I let it close. Waited a year. And got it re-pierced. It healed in 2 months. I had no scarring, keloids, infection, pain. It was a miserable piercing, and i had it pierced almost 2 years. It healed perfectly the second time. So, sometimes…you need a re-pierce.

Yep. my first tongue bar was a little crooked and never healed properly. I had a sore swollen tongue for about a year. Had to take it out for dental work, and got it redone a couple years later. Healed in about 2 months and was perfect for several years after until I had to take it out again for more dental. Only down side was after the three days it was out it closed up again 🤦 I had no idea it'd close that fast after so long being perfectly healed. Gutted.

Another note for those with longer hair: If you have a fresh piercing, make sure you blow dry your hair (or pull it back in a ponytail, bun, or clip) after you shower! I used to dry my piercings off after I showered, but the smallest amount of water from my hair would get back in the piercings again since I left my hair down. Because of this I had bumps on my rook and tragus for 6 months until I figured it out. People always bring up, "Keep them clean!" But I'd argue the full saying should be, "Keep them clean, and dry!"

Another thing to add is that your body might just take longer to heal things. I’ve got 2 sets of lobe piercings, and each took me about 6 months to fully heal. I got my first cartilage piercing (just a helix) over 9 months ago and it still decides to flare up randomly. My guess is that it will probably take well over a year to heal completely, but it will be worth it when it does.

My rook absolutely refused to heal after over a year. it constantly hurt, some cleaning methods and treatments helped, but ultimately it was never happy from the moment it was pierced. I honestly think the way it was pierced is what did me in, because it felt the worst of all of my other cartilage piercings. I got my rook done by the same piercer who has done all of my piercings, all of which have never had an issue. the jewelry was titanium like all of my other jewelry, i didnt use hairspray or other hair products, my ear just hated my rook. Eventually i got tired of the pain, so i opted to take out the piercing and the area has been totally fine ever since. People don’t say what you should or shouldn’t do with a new piercing. They always say don’t touch it and aftercare bs but I did all that but then I realized I constantly wear headphones. Remember to let you ears roam free from headphones after awhile because bacteria on the headphones can affect the healing process. Use earbuds for a couple week then you can go back to your headphones for a little

The only piercing I gave up on was my first industrial. The piercer who did it mis-angled the holes, so it was never going to heal. I only found this out when I went to another piercer (who has done all my subsequent piercings) to get better quality jewellery for it. I had some issues with my conch and second industrial, but I think that was more because I got them done in opposite ears 3 weeks apart. My piercer knows me well enough to know that I take good care of my piercings, which was the only reason he agreed to it in the first place. Even with me being very careful, I still ended up with a bump on my conch and on both sides of the top piercing on my industrial. The bumps eventually went away with lots of babying. I’ve got to say that the experience made me realise that it’s better to wait a while between piercings than to rush getting everything done in a short space of time.

My conch was the one I gave up on one year in... It probably would've been fine, but everything started going south when I was on a roller coaster that was REALLY ROUGH and my head ping-ponged around and my conch smacked into the headrest a bunch. It was bloody and mad for the rest of the day, got a bump on the back, and a bit sore most of the time since. A few months later, I tried changing the jewelry and that worked for a while until it popped off one night while cleaning it (at like 10 PM of course) and I could not get the little gem screwed back into the post. I found a longer bar (1/2") and used it and said that I would find a piercer who could fix it after corona died off... but then it was months later, and my conch hated the long bar. It got a bump on the back and the inside of my ear, and over all just the biggest pain in the ass to deal with. It was getting caught and irritated on everything too, so I took out the bar and just said "fuck it, if I want something there so bad, I'll just get cuffs and move on with my life"

Funnily enough, gold is the kindest material to my body. I suspect that part of the reason my ear lobes healed so fast was because I switched to it after 3 months (the studs they gave me at the shop were steel). Haven't had any issues since, and I can touch them as much as I want.
I had two additional ear lobes and a helix done almost a year ago, and those still haven't healed (ESPECIALLY the helix). I was holding on switching to new piercings, but now realizing how quickly my first holes healed with gold, I think I'm going to try doing the same with my latest ones.

I have figured out the healing process varies from person to person. Some people tend to get bumps easier and some got bodies that heal the piercing fast and easy. I'm lucky coz despite having many piercings including tragus, industrial, rook, lobes, conch, helix, flat, nose, tongue, belly etc. I only clean them twice a day using saline water. No specific or extra caring things I did to heal them and all of them healed beautifully fast and easy. However, my bestie got many piercings too but she constantly gets bumps and they all took forever just to semi healed.

That’s when the problems started. It would hurt and bleed all the time. After a week I went in and changed it again to different one that was titanium. I have had it for a year and a half and there were days where it was fine, then all the sudden it would hurt and bleed. Finally went back they said it looked good not an infection. To avoid sleeping on it and keep cleaning it. Today I changed it to the original jewelry going to give it a month or two and if I still have the same problems, I’m just taking it out. I don’t want to do it but its better than being in pain for another year.

the main key is to no push the pircing thru, if u take it out to clean in, make sure u do it really slow and wiggle it thrue, if u dont your pircing end" the scru" part will iritate the wound/scar, like me I use pyrispet/antiseptic salve, too get the pircing thrue without irritating the open scar/wound, u will soon see that it will grow/heal much faster, alot of ppl just clean and then push the pircing thrue, and then its like restart, some get big bumps, some get all this kind of "non infected" things, and dont know why, this is bcuyz u push the pircing thrue too fast/rough/ slow and steady :) hope u find thius helpful, sorry for dysleksia and bag english

Red, tender, even formed two bumps on it (and mind you these are two year old piercings) but I started to give it attention twice a day (am/pm) and just cleaning it with a piercing spray and lightly with either a quick compression or if I’m in a rush I’ll just clean around it with a q-tip and spray. It’s only been two days of doing so and the bumps are gone (still tender) and I feel as long as I do something even if it’s a small rinse twice a day it’ll do the job. It just takes commitment and I cannot skip a day I found. Patience, patience.

A flare up is an irritation that typically only has symptoms of being red and possibly sensitive to touch; irritations don't typically need much treatment and will go away (or at least diminish) after a few days. An infection includes redness, sensitivity, swelling, pus/discharge, etc. and needs a treatment (like a salt soak) in order to get better.

This has been the best advice he could have given me. I went to the dermatologist, she knew exactly what to give me, got my prescription along with a treatment routine and I got rid of the bump in a few days and it stopped flaring up. I quickly figured out that they partially closed, and I was literally in my bathroom shaking and crying while I kept trying to shove them back in for like 20 minutes. The pain was absolutely HORRIBLE and my ears burned and throbbed for days afterwards!
I’ve now resorted to keeping a pair of earrings in at (almost) all times so they don’t close. I’m honestly scared since I really want a 3rd lobe piercing on just my left ear, but I’m super worried that I’m gonna have the same issues if I actually get it.

Did you do anything to make it go away or anything that helped heal it faster? I’ve had my second nostril piercing for about 6 months and it still gets a bump:/

I did a double nostril 7 months ago.... The both got angry af but after a few months the right one calmed down... But the left one.... OH. MY. GOD. There is a bump and its red no matter what I do. I never touch it, i clean it every day. Now I think I maybe cleaned it too much. The right one was pierced under a good angle but the left one was not. When I went to change the jewelry the piercer told me it was pierced under a bad angle which is why it took her forever to change the left one. The right one went in without trying. I dont know what to do, i dont wanna take it out cause I love it and I know I wont pierce it again cause I am sick of it.

Have had my ears pierced for several years. One of my ears still bleeds a little every time I take out my earrings. Don't know what to do about it except apply peroxide each time.

got my first lobe piercings 11 months ago. it was so painless i was like “i’m so excited to get more!” but then they didn’t heal after 6 weeks. and then still not after 14 weeks. now here i am, almost a year later, same earrings in… wondering if i can switch them out yet. i’ve been very dedicated to aftercare (switched to h2ocean 6 months ago which seemed to help) and am wearing very expensive gold earrings. they SEEM ok, but when i tried taking them out at 14 weeks, they seemed okay too, but stung when i took them out. so i’m very nervous.

I'd go to a piercer and ask them to swap the jewellery out for you-it'll cost a little bit (usually about a tenner where I am, plus jewellery) but they know what to look out for and can tell you what's going on with it

My conch is my oldest cartilage piercing and has been terrible since I got it. Turns out though for all my piercings I haven't been using the correct thing to clean them like I just found this out rn... I thought the spray I had was saline solution and it's not so I'm gonna buy actual saline solution. I have 5 piercings so you'd think I know what I'm doing but apparently not. The piercer who pierced my conch gave me the wrong advice on cleaning then I bought actual saline solution the second time but then ran out and bought the wrong thing

I’ve had my belly pierced for 9 years and it still hasn’t fully healed! I don’t want to take it out but also I’m just over it because sometimes I want to take the jewellery out and have a break 😭😭😭. I wish I had taken it out because now the scars around it make me sick!

5:14 I have the same issue! Every single piercing I've ever had hates it except for my septum. All the others I have to pierce it, keep it for several months, take it out, let it heal for about a month and then get it redone before my body will accept it and heal (I've tried keeping them for years but this is the only way I've found that they'll accept). I'm trying a new thing with my lip piercing where I started with a 12g and am dropping to a 14g, see if it heals, and then I'll up-gauge it again if it heals alright like that. (it was an accident. I just got smaller jewelry than I intended but it gave me the idea.) esp since getting everything pierced twice just to get it to heal is _expensive_ so I'm here looking for other options. Definitely don't want to have to redo my industrial but it's super difficult.

3 years and 5 months after professional piercing. No hair products or makeup. White gold plated sterling silver disc studs. They still get infected every couple weeks/months and bleed / weep. Paid a lot of money for the safest type of piercing and spent years doing after care. Both have hard scar tissue around the piercings. I’m so frustrated with the whole process and haven’t been able to wear any other earrings yet because they still haven’t healed.

    One question....
It's more then a year that I had my lobe piercings done so are healed, but I'm still having troubles putting on some types of earrings in one hole. like, If the needle is slightly curved it doesn't go in.... It only have to be straight and it's only on one ear, in the other goes in perfectly and it doesn't hurt like in the other.... What should I do?

Does this advice count 30 years later? I was 7 when my mother forced me against my will to have my ears pierced (typical old-fashioned lobe). I remember that I had some kind of minor infection in one side. I have no idea if we did the right kind of aftercare. I have gone for long periods as an adult many years later where I have not worn any earrings in the hope that I would let it close up altogether and it never has. I have tried the opposite where I would wear some nice clean basic gold earrings for months and months in the hope that it would help. I really don't understand what is going on here. When I wear earrings they get sore and a little bit weepy. No pus, no bleeding. This was done with a gun.

I got my second lobes done when I was a freshman in highschool.. The one on my right here closed up so I got it redone about a year ago. It still is not healed. No matter what. I am now a senior so as you can imagine it’s been awhile. I don’t know what to do. I don’t want to take it out but I don’t know why it don’t heal. There’s been times I’ve thought it was healed so I was able to leave it out for a couple of days. I don’t really know what to do. My other one is sort of fine for the most part.💔

I had my eyebrow piercing for about 4 years and it never healed, i have the correct anatomy aswell so it wasn’t that, but it just kept flaring up, I changed the bar to a shorter titanium bar and it was finally starting to heal, then it flared up again after a few months, and then I switched to a longer bar as it became swollen and was just swallowing the short bar, then it started healing then flared up again and I lost the ball the other day and took it as a sign to just retire the damn thing and stop being stubborn, I didn’t want to because I did like the piercing and hated the red scar and discolouration that it left when I took it out, now I have a huge scar, moral of the story, if your piercing won’t heal after like a year with all the correct aftercare then just remove it and don’t leave it for as long as I did, some people just aren’t meant for certain piercings 😢

I got a second lobe piercing last year, and they still leak lymph and sometimes blood for seemingly no reason. I was religious about keeping them clean and not bothering them, I don't know what the issue is. I got pierced at Claire's when I was 9 and I never had a single issue with them.
