The glimpse surpassed all my expectations. Though Nag Ashwin seems to have been inspired by the aesthetics of Dune, it still looks wholly original.
You can definitely create parallels with popular dystopian movies but it still has the capability to stand on its own!

Mixing Sci fi and Indian Mythology is the best way we can project our Stories to the world...kudos Nag aswin and Vyjayanthi Movies .. also to that they need none other than bahubali Prabhas, big b, Kamal hasan sir and deepika
The CGI, set designs, and practical effects look top-notch. I hope the writing of the film is great as well because we have a badass sci-fi movie on our hands. Kudos to the makers, the creative minds as well as the hard workers who have helped bring this vision to fruition and make it look the way it does.
I think there will be an integration of technology with indian mythology themes. People are already associating ancient weapons being utilised by characters in the film. I think it will translate really well. Nag Ashwin may have a gem in his hands

If it gets emotionally connected to audience just like RRR then trust me that this film would definitely cross 2000 crores worldwide. Im actually stunned by looking at the vision of nagi who took this gigantic risk just like Rajamouli sir did with Bahubhali. Finally I hope this film break barriers and gets worldwide audience.
I hope they leave no stone unturned in making this an epic saga! We desperately need something impactful in the science fiction dystopian genre!

I know almost nothing about Indian cinema, but I was at the San Diego Comic-Con Hall H panel and was happy to be there when an Indian movie came to a panel at SDCC for the first time. It was cool to see all the fans of Indian cinema get super excited about some actors that I’m sure are big stars in India, although I don't know them. If you know how Hall H works at SDCC, then you'll know that all the hardcore fans make their way towards the front of the room near the stage. It was clear that the front of the room was full of Indian Americans/immigrants that were super hyped to have a movie from their culture represented at SDCC. The excitement was contagious and I hope this is just the beginning of Indian Cinema coming to SDCC.

Being a Telugu guy, you can imagine the love I have for good cinema in general (Telugu people in general are film fanatics and I am no exception, be it any language). It broke my heart all these days watching projects with good potential scripts being butchered.
However, this teaser gives me a shimmer of hope because it is one of my favorite settings - A dystopian world, a Telugu movie, good visuals, no compromises in set pieces etc. etc. That being said, I am still skeptical. Let's hope cinema wins this time!!!
Nag Ashwin spoke at SDCC that he is a big Star Wars fan.. And you know Star Wars can be a pretty awesome inspiration to do a Kalki Avatar story as Star Wars itself pretty much inspired by Eastern culture and mythology... The Chosen One who will bring balance to the force.. The evil empire, the Rebel Alliance.. Futuristic setting.. Just infuse and bend the characters according to Indian Mythologies and boom you have the perfect film... And there is no shame in following on Star Wars footsteps.. Becoz every big HTown film does that up until Maverick... The confidence with which Nagi was speaking at SDCC... You can freaking tell that he has made a film for ages

Finally we are going to experience an Indian movie that will be of same league as of the west. Hats off to the the South film Industry who are willing to take the risk and are committed religiously to think out of the usual genre we have been witnessing from Bollywood and delivering such good movies. Can't wait to see the performances and that mumified look of AB sir.....❤ Can't wait to experience this.

I am very much confident and not shattered by the first looks..I have immense faith in Vyjayanthifilms and Nag Aswin and he will definitely scale up the doors of Cinema and true descendant of SSR..
1. The first frame soldiers walking showcases Padma which is very vishnu oriented
2. The Robot walking in Shiva temple showcases something that Raids Want to Pursue to Get Power
3. Amitji looks like someone waiting to handover the Kalki for his next Predecessor Prabhas
4. Prabhas will stand for the race in order to protect the mankind from evil
5. Deepika looks lost in another world and has some vengeance

I'm from Bengal and Saswata is a great great actor. I've seen him closely. He can repeat same dialogue, with same emotions, with same body movements (even eye lids opening and closing) for 100 of times. Extremely skillful actor. But never expected him to see in this avatar. Really excited!!
I am not worried about the story bcoz of the involvement of Singeetham Srinivas Rao, who is a pioneer of Telugu Sci_fi movies like Aditya 369 and other movies like Pushpaka Vimanam and Bhairava Dweepam.. I am just interested to see how interestingly Nag Ashwin going to present it on silver screen.
I knew it. Nag Ashwin won’t disappoint. A film is after all a director’s media and a mere underwhelming poster isn’t enough to calibrate a film’s success. Deepika nailed it btw!

Deepika does have a good taste of scripts and characters. Be it noir or commercial cinema, most of the characters she has played have been well written. Piku, cocktail, gehraiyaan, and even the masala ones like Chennai Express.
It will be very interesting to see how they utilise her as a mole in the system. Especially her origin story. What if she is the small girl in the initial frame as her world is being looted!

Even though there are subtle influences from Dune, BR 2049, be it from the music (Erratic tone - Dream of Arrakis) or the Dystopian theme, still the glimpse got me intrigued.
I believe these comparisons are quite common, since Nag Ashwin himself being a fan of Star Wars couldn't flee from it.
Glad he didn't go for any cheesy dialogues or anything of that sort, he knows the craft, and he clearly understands the power of subtlety. That is clearly evident from this glimpse.
Can't wait for 2024 !

I never doubted project K. Nag Ashwin's both movies has a quality of repeatability. He can take you to Himalayas or dive into the history with his visuals but emotions are always the driving factor.
I have immense faith in the producer Ashwini Dutt who produced India's own Indiana Jones with Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari which holds up even after 33 years. The man knows where he is putting his money.
He did Shakthi with NTR. Don’t go by producer/director/actor… all together with an engaging story and narration makes it an enjoyable movie for moviegoers.
I think Amitabh sir's character will be either Ashwatthama or parashurama....seeing the mummified look and a kind of red tilak on forehead...mostly Ashwatthama...it will be very very interesting to see how nag ashwin has interpreted the 7 chiranjeevis to help kalki end the rule of kali

This gave me MAJOR DUNE VIBES, as much as ive fallen off of the prabhas bandwagon the last couple of years, i am absolutely hyped for this movie
I think there are more surprises coming our way as when they did the announcement & when they put the first picture there were more actors in the frame apart from Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone... even on Wikipedia there is Disha Patani, Rana Daggubati, Dulquer Salmaan & Suriya ...i assume they might have a comeo roles like in Bhramastra SRK & Nagarjuna had ...it will be really interesting to see what their parts will be 🔥🔥

Saswata Chatterjee getting recognition on such a scale makes me really happy. He's a gem of an actor, look for his works in Bengali cinema.
After seeing the first glimpse i am satisfied that this high budget doesn't disappoint. Expecting to see kamal haasan as a villain a lot.

Aditya 369 reference is mind blowing. I always wanted you to watch it. That is a head of its times with brilliant story lines and screenplay.
Western aesthetics with Indian heart..intriguing and exciting at the same time..
I wish they would have given some glimpses or references to other immortals , like Bhagwan Parshu Ram's axe or the wounded Ashwathama having a bloody scar on his forehead. If all the seven immortals, in their modern avatars, will assemble it will be a MARVELlous moment.... because according to scriptures all the seven immortals including Parshuram, Hanuman, Vibhishan, Ashwathama play their roles in making Kalki win against Kali
That frame would be epic! It's something that I envisioned for the climax of Brahmastra, a frame of powers of Nagarjuna, SRK and Ranbir combining together. Such a missed opportunity! I feel like Nag Ashwin is going to really integrate the avatars well tho

I love the approach of actually using practical set pieces and props. There's less dependance of CGI as well that doesnt take us away from the actual characters and story.

You know what's crazy there's a Star Wars inspired post apocalyptic aesthetic film named Rebel Moon which comes out in December which I am sure if it had showed it's teaser trailer first people would have complained how Nag Ashwin copied Rebel Moon.
The first glimpse looks amazing!! But looking at today's audience and their mindset, and how easily one can be convinced otherwise, this movie will also have a tough time proving itself. Be it the use of Kalki, which is an avatar of Lord Vishnu, or Amitabh Bachchan's character, which is presumed to be of Ashwatthama. Although this movie is based in future, these religious fact have to be presented very carefully or otherwise a whole entire team of boycott group is ready to bash this film or even a minute digression from our religious past and then the movie will become "Anti-Hindu"

I still remember last year Brahmastra was also trolled when it's scenes and setting were like Star Wars and Marvel movies. But Brahmastra makers got it right but they couldn't get writing and acting perfect. Ranbir was good, Alia was terrible, Mouni Roy was terrific, Amitabh, Dimple and Ranbir's sidekicks didn't get good enough screentime and strong roles. But Project K for me is looking promising with it's teaser even though it's somehow inspired from Star Wars and Marvel movies.
This is the best teaser of Indian film I’ve seen in a long time. Everything is top notch. After disappointing movie based on life of Shri Vishnu’s 7th avatar, Shri Rama, Prabhas is back with this brilliant movie, based on ‘hypothetical’ life of Shri Vishnu’s 10th avatar, Kalki!!
The background score mostly the "eeee eeee eeee" part was like that of the JASON MRAZ song 93 million miles, no hate, I like the song and also this rendition of the movie background score, it sounds good.
Release date of Kalki is 12.01.24 & if you sums up to 10 which indicates towards 10th avatar of Lord Vishnu 😊

My expectations went downhill with the first look poster. But man I was wrong. This glimpse was 🔥🔥. So many details and prabhas's look was so much better than the poster. The surprise however was amitabh bacchan as ashwatthama
To be honest, Adipurush has not left my mind which is why I have not been able to enjoy any Prabhas movie promos. But I am hopeful of this project

You can see the statue behind AB, he could be either Parasurama or ashwatthama. There are 8 chiranjeevis who help Kalki in Kaliyug. Amitabh bachan could be one of the chiranjeevi’s.
Reminds me of Dune, I just hope they take their time more in the post-production to bring dystopian fully immersed in this movie since they going to release it in 2024. Nevertheless, showcasing this teaser glimpse in SDCC is brilliant.

No matter how good the glimpses and teasers are, I would still be holding my horses regarding the final output. The previous projects of Prabhas were also raved to the core, despite them being directed by relatively newcomers and this one too comes from a two film old director. Hope I am proved wrong.
You have to realise tho. This is essentially a Telugu home grown project vs the conglomerate Hindi cinema model that threw a lot of money towards projects with little deliberation over the writing. I think it's a little different.

I don't know, just tired of getting glimpses of Hollywood productions when i am expecting something original 🤔
I will still prefer films like Tumbbad, Kantara, Bulbul. Even if indian movies wanted to experiment some sci-fi elements or magic or whatever I think we still have lots of original scopes to explore.
But again definitely will wait for your movie review to decide whether to go to the theater or not.

Nag Ashwin was very particular about every minute details being used in the movie.I was skeptical that the first look of prabhas was to garner attention of the movie audience.

The comparison with the Hollywood sci-fi epics is inevitable. What really counts in the end of the day will be whether the film has the merit to be one of the memorable sci-fi films or will it face the same backlash faced by previous films in the genre in Indian cinema.
If you observe carefully, there’s ppl from every ethnicity. Even in the villains. Indians, whites, blacks, Asians, etc
The entire world has truly fallen, unlike in Hollywood movies, where the world is just America and the demographic is whites and some blacks.

Now this is how you use a budget!!! It blew all the pre-conceived notions out of the water. Nag Ashwin and the production design team have done a phenomenal work realizing this dystopian world. A lot of the sets are build and VFX looks great!!!!🤩🤩🔥🔥This is going to be a banger and I can't wait!!!!! Especially to see how the story unravels and what the amazing cast has to offer🤩❤🔥🤞🤞
i was really hoping for an indian sci fi story, more specifically, cyberpunk, to come out at some point. I have even been spending the past year or so working on my own adaptation of Kalki (not to be egotistical, i'm just a guy who likes writing). then this trailer came out, and i was absolutely stoked. I really hope it's good bc india really needs good sci fi stories.
I think prabhas is going to represent lord Kalki who said to be the Saviour of humanity after the darkness takes over the world and Amitabh Bachchan will be his Guru or teacher who will guide prabhas to realise who he is and what is his purpose of life... The lord Kalki will be used as a metaphor for prabhas because maybe he will be the last hope of humanity or that dystopian world and Kamal Hassan will be representing kaliyug as an enemy who wants to take over the world by darkness..
@@swapnilthorat4648 it depends on the writing or the thought process behind the story..the lore can be changed but the core of the mythology wil be same for every superhero movie like in Superman movies he is presented like Jesus Christ or in Marvel movies captain America is presented like the angel of Jesus who is chosen to be a warrior of truth
More important aspect is that the movie is not CGI in all frames, but they are shot is actual set....

AB sir is accurate ashwatthama in it, u can see the bleeding forehead and bandages all over the body(the curse of Krishna that his wounds will never heal), Ashwatthama was a devotee of lord Shiva, so that could be a reason for him to be there.
My opinion on the whole thing is that the whole look of the first glimpse looks very bland. Looks very artificial and feels like it was shot in a studio. Doesnt look natural. I hope they fix it in the final edits of the film which i think they will surely add more effects. But yea... The cinematography in this feels very studio-ish and mediocre. Hope they add life to that too. But otherwise. Damn... Its a really good concept!
Thank you, i felt exactly the same way. It is a very good concept and a new genre being attempted in Indian cinema, but this does not hold upto par. It needs something to set itself apart. That's why Bahubali was so successful. It set itself apart from other mediaeval time movies. Right now, we already have Dune around the corner, and I do not know how it will set itself apart from that. I'm hoping to see more in trailer tho. Hopefully it'll be good.
The best thing about the trailer was that, instead of focusing on VFX and Actions, it focused on characters and emotions.

Nag Ashwin's Project-K or 'Kalki 2898 AD' contains every essential filmmaking element that Om Raut's 'Adipurush' lacked. It has vision, ascertainment, commitment, conviction and clarity of what exactly the director and makers want to do. Instead of heavily relying VFX and CGI, makers chose to keep things as realistic as possible, even when the film is set in the year of 2898.
I totally conform with the part of concentrating on Drama and Emotion, rather than showcasing heavy VFX shots just to boast film's budget visually.
Had Adipurush focused more on character drama and emotions, rather than modification of the tale, it would have easily crossed the 1000 crore mark.
Nag Ashwin, Prashanth Neel and SS Rajamouli are apparent specimen of how to utilise a performer like Prabhas, and use his full potential as an actor as well as a 'star', maintaining a smooth bridge between his acting dynamics and his mass screen presence. Which directors like Sujeeth (for Saaho), Radha Krishna Kumar (for Radhe Shyam) and Om Raut (for Adipurush) apparently could not do. I had huge expectations with a visionary like Om Raut, but his conviction got smeared, or probably he just could not identify the nucleus between his vision and audience's need. And that is something SS Rajamouli has mastered.
The teaser is dramatically rich, visually spectacular and futuristic, and yet still holds the enigma of our Indian mythology.
If audiences connect with the film's drama and narrative, then sky is the limit!
