I love it how Kalki is NOT Prabhas' movie.. Prabhas is just a part of this world called Kalki which Nagi built. He's hardly there for 40 mins of the runtime nd the story takes the center stage. No other star would attempt this at this point in their career. Have to appreciate him for that.

Everything talks about the good aspects so I will point some bad ones( remember the things I don't mention are good and the movie is overall great)
SPOILER WARNING
1.Prabhas's character.
Ok. This would be more like rant since I had like really high expectations but tbh they really missed the mark. Firstly, why do you have to add all the comedic gags especially with Prabhas if it's not working. Like sure make jokes but he is like that in almost every scene. I was enjoying every character but to be really honest, I did not root for Prabhas and enjoyed like a really few of his scenes. They also had the opportunity to make him 'Kaal Bhairav' (Lord Shiva's avatar) rather than making him Karna. It would have made so much sense.
2.Disha Pathani and her role in the movie.
Seriously why was she in the movie. The movie could have reduced its length and talked about other characters and maybe focus more on the serious side or atleast give others screen time. Her character had literally no motive, no purpose but to drag the movie.
3. This one is not a cinematic problem but the theatre in which I was watching had such a bad audience. Like you should talk or scream in hype scenes but the people sitting behind were like talking and cracking jokes every second, even in the serious parts. You know what was the worst part about this. A BABY, with his parents was sitting next to me. And why the hell was everyone flashing the lights of their phones. They were not even recording man.
4. Last bad aspects imo. No one to root for.
Sure like I enjoyed the movie and definitely enjoyed Amitaabh Bachchan sir and Kamal Haasan sir but I did not get emotionally connected with any character. Maybe because it was because of the editing.
Overall I recommend this movie but dont expect like something really good with Prabhas's character. This movie has really elevated Indian cinema (mainly in sci-fi) to new heights. Also don't hate Prabhas for this. It's not like his acting was one of the worst in the movie or the Indian cinema. Once again, his character was a case of missed opportunity. Overall every actor was awesome especially the Big B, Amitabh Bachchan sir. He was insane in this movie. Also it's cinematography was great. I remember that one scene where they light up the Rangoli. As much as I remember, that shot was so fricking great. Also it's VFX was top notch. It was just in the first fight where you know he throws that evil bounty hunter that came back in the movie and I was like w why is he so slow. But the VFX in Shambala and the Complex were great. And the Bujji scenes too. The interval and the final fight were great too. Overall because of my criticisms, I would rate this an 8 or 7.5 out of 10. And please, 7 rating is not by any means bad. Sorry for the long paragraph and my English. 😅
Oh yeah and the cameos and The Lord Krishna's silhouette scene was really great.
Because of Prabhas's stardom helps to get huge collections on day 1. 200 cr for this movie. He is giving chance to new directors. No other star hero can't do this.

@@alekhyaajai8114 good director doesnt mean to get a 600cr project with only 2 films with less vfx experience, producers doesnt want to invest unless their is a populor actors in the project. U can say prabhas is the reason he can find a producer easily. We know Shekhar kammula is a fantastic director but producers doesnt invest when he takes up a big budget movie, because he is well versed in making simple movies with feel good stories.

@@dhimankalita1690I actually liked Bhairavas carefree attitude in a setting where things were already gloomy. But they went slightly overboard with it.
I also found the first half of the movie boring and choppily edited. I couldn't understand the point of Disha Patani in first half. The introduction scene of Bhairava was not slick and wasted too much time with unnecessary dialogues. It was also wayy too long than required. However the second half was the movie. I loved how the Hindu mythology was present with some nice twists. AB Sr. was the soul of the film. Every scene of his screamed PRESENCE. The opening sequence post the Mahabharata scene was really really good, especially with the animation and AB Sr. voice. Deepika Padukone did fine with what she was given. I wished that the emotional scenes had hit better. The CGI was good btw and I could ignore those minor mistakes. But it does look way better on the theatre screen than on mobile.
Anyways, I hope that the next part is tighter with the writers and Nag Ashwin learning from their previous mistakes and make an even better movie. Just don't end up becoming like another Bhramastra, this story has so much potential.
Prabhas's range has been vindicated. I like that Darling and Rebel persona did the fusion dance and we got super saiyan perfection

We went to a 3pm showing in IMAX, 6/26, north of Detroit MI USA. The film was breathtaking. It's rare that we get Indian films in IMAX so we grabbed the opportunity. We are English only speakers so can't say how good our subtitles were. The next showing at 7pm was nearly sold out. I wish we would have gone then but I believe that when the sequel to this film is release, I will be able to fulfill my dream of seeing a spectacular film with an enthusiastic Indian audience.

My pov Appreciation for their efforts and hard work to bring such a vision on the screen, each and every character has a time space. It is treat to the eyes and those mahabharat sequences are ultimate. The climax was outstanding. And in my opinion the first half could have been improved That's all. And mainly amithabh bachan sir has done the best job. Deepika Padukone the main soul of a story, indeed she carried very well, mainly her screen presence, and also her emotions in this movie were so real and natural. Prabhas sir did amazing work, this movie will be the best work after the salaar beside back to back flops and maann what a powerful eyes he has shown in one of the scenes purely goosebumps. Lastly Kamal Hassen sir, what a legend at this age his conviction is commendable and his voice is 💥 that last climax he just nailed it 🔥. Over all the film has a soul and has a great vision with hopes and hence it is a KALKI CINEMATIC UNIVERSE, hence the story continues.....
It could've easily been an amazing 2-2.15 hrs movie, the consistent stretching of the story and forced comedy in every other scene killed the experience for me.
The song with Roxy could hv easily been replaced by someone narrating to Bhairava about the life and luxuries at complex and later showing contrasting sufferings and unlawfulness in Kashi. It would have added the much needed emotional connect and cleaner screenplay imo

Perfect review brother 👍 if this movie was made by SS Rajamauli this would have been a much better watch. Lot of things didn't work in this movie and we don't watch a movie for second half only. The effort of makers is good but lacks the impactful screenplay and dialogues. I felt the movie is a good entertainer but fell short of being a masterpiece. My take is
1. The movie had a great potential with its story concept - blend of Indian mythology with a Sci-Fi future. But story felt shallow and disconnected at places where they traded it for comedy and melodrama.
2. Amitabh was a towering presence. He genuinely made a strong impact. Hatsoff to the legend.
3. Wish they had developed the character of Kamal Hassan in the first half (Hope they will do so in next movie). The man can be such a dominating presence if given a space.
4. Prabhas has been the weakest link. The intro scene was definitely a cringe show. Dude is good with action but as a comic loverboy it felt more as a spoof than a serious story at places.
5. The VFX at display was much better per Indian standards but at places the quality drops. But kudos to the effort.
6. The movie tries to be everything for everyone. I wish it stuck to a coherent storyline than trying to add masala, songs and drama to play to a specific audience.
7. Unnecessary cameos - Made the movie feel like a spoof with cameos of Rajamouli and scores of others (which ofc plays to local audience), but wildly disconnected from the plot.
8. Poorly written dialogues - The dialogues at places pulled down the movie. Took you out of the flow of the story.
The movie couldve been a timeless masterpiece, despite its shortcomings on budget, had it stuck to a serious storyline. Take cues from classics like LOTR, Starwars, Avatar etc. You pay homage to the characters there not the actors. Please give more space to Amitji and Kamal Sir in the next one.
I feel in the end, the movie is a good entertainer, but missed the shot for being a masterpiece.

I simply hope that Amitabh Bachchan stays healthy for next few years. Looking at his age & the kind of energy he brings on screen is just unbelievable. He's 81 already & that's why it is important that he stays healthy enough to complete Kalki trilogy.

Just came back from the movie, and while some elements of the film felt like recycled sci fi and the initial comedic first half failed to get me hooked. But eventually the movie started taking itself seriously again and I was hooked. Major props to the set and VFX teams this is truly stunning work. That finale left me awestruck. Prabhas and ESPECIALLY Amitabh Bachnan KILLED it. What an achievement for Indian Cinema!
Another overhyped Prabhas film.. Only Amitabh ji and seamless Mahabharat integration saves it..Rest is mish-mash from several hollywood movies..Hope 2nd part will be better !

As a non-Indian Florida American who has no knowledge of the Hindu Pantheon, I felt like I rediscovered water with this film. Ashwathamma is my favorite character of the entire film and I hope they keep him long into the Part 2 of the film. I am happy that they kept the Indian Pantheon references simple, because I knew going into the film there was going to be a mix of religious aspects.
My first impression from the movie was Dune-clone Cyberpunk with Hindu Religion. I am happy to say it more looks like a Cyberpunk Post-Appocolyptic Hindu film with the rebirth of religious figures.
The first half, I agree, it felt slow and a bit choppy. Especially the breif side tangent where Bhairava fantasizes about the Complex.
There was also this weird cut in the film before the Interval period where Bhairava gets blacklisted from the Complex and goes back home to figure out what to do, but then jump cuts to a scene where he is back in the desert where he got blacklisted and begs for redemption and a second chance, as though the previous scene never happed. Weird…

You're probably one of those people who think SRK, Pankaj Tripathi are goats..lol.
Even greats like Kamal Haasan dwarf in front of him. Amitabh can easily play roles like those in Moondram Pirai or Sigappu Rojakkal.. but Kamal cannot do Zanjeer or Deewar ever in his lifetime. Kamal is a jack of all trades.. but master of none. Amitabh is the master of acting.

I haven't watched the film yet but I would say director Nag Ashwin deserves huge praise for taking out the potential of Amitabh Bachchan sir and Kamal Hassan sir in a single movie.
Kamal sir is there for only a bit. He does leave his mark but its truly an Amitabh Bachchan show!

As a White American, I saw this film in IMAX and just WOW. This was my first Telegu film in theaters as well. I am amazed at the seamless integration of the Mahabharata into this dystopian setting. I really liked that Ashwin incorporated a wonderful array of different people groups into the scenes too. There are white people, black people, Asians, etc. in this world, to show what 'the last city on Earth' would truly be like and how all of the different religions/races would be waiting on their ideal of 'God'. That was really epic and inspiring to me.

Mahabharat sequence was impeccable! Nag ashwin broke the curse of Prabhas as well, The visuals was spot on! The story was convoluted for a bit i feel but he intricately easened up! Exceptional aura by kamal hassan as well! Hats of to entire team for offering us this spectacle!,❤❤❤

The Krishna silhouette at the beginning was a moment of pure goosebumps and set the tone for the epic visuals that followed.And ofcourse,Hats off to Kamal Haasan and Amitabh Bachchan, whose mere names speak volumes about their legendary status.The climax of the film's last 30 minutes was extraordinary, marking the pinnacle of Indian cinema's achievements in VFX and production design. Despite this, I struggled to find a character to root for.kudos to nagashwin for his vision at first place tho .
My biggest issue was the lack of emotional resonance I felt in the storytelling. It needed to be deeper with the characters vs the fluff comedic gags we were subject to in the first half. Would have helped really being invested in the second half!

Amitabh Bachchan is like an old fine wine!!!! He was literally the oxygen for the movie!!! I was literally waiting for his entry in the movie. It was a total paisa wasool movie... Only I wish they could have done little emotional attachment with the characters. There was kind of no time for character development, because I personally felt there was unrequired action sequence in the 1st part of the movie, maybe that's the reason that we couldn't feel the emotion connection with the characters. But yes, a big round of applause to the team even to think of a concept like this!!! Totally must watch movie in the theatres..
I was never a big fan of Prabhas. But for me he was the highlight of this film. He proved that he is no lottery star and will continue to reign at the Indian Box office for another 10 years atleast. He should take good care of his health and looks though.

Watched Kalki just an hour ago. Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Hassan and Deepika Padukone stole the show :) Amitabh Bachchan as Ashwatama is iconic! Him as Ashwatama deserves a chapter of his own. Deepika Padukone carried vulnerability, intensity and grace so well, its impressive. Kamal Hassan was straight-out creepy and intimidating (kind of like Voldemort in HP). Thoroughly enjoyed the movie.
tbh first half of the film is crap. Acting, dialogue delivery, music everything sucks big time. Movie seems to steal transformers etc big time and despite the graphics, the entire production is a big let down. 2nd half fight scene redeems the movie but not enough to tolerate a full 3 hour trauma.

I think the song was also to show how luxurious life in the complex is as compared to the barren world outside. They needed to show why Prabhas’s character wanted to do anything to get in.
