The track is out of the solar space beaming up in the dark unknown fabric of the universe.. its priceless what Bukem did for drum and bass.. and music in general as a form of art, his fusion of senses and flow, the artists he inspired and helped. There is no label on Good Lookin Records that doesnt gets under my skin, wrapping the arms around me and drifting me away, makes me smile, alianated from the pittyfull problems of humanity, just a grain of sand floating in the vast nothingness of space and really really good drum and bass. There was more variety back then. Producers pushing the envelope, using wind instruments flutes, clarinets, trumpets and sax in conjunction with studio equipment. Tunes felt more epic back then, yeah sure you had your jungle floor fillers but you also had epic intros (soul blade runner, secrets, Tokyo dawn etc) and the musicality was on a more intelligent level. Today the production quality is far beyond what it was back then but creativity today is'nt. Liquid has really diluted the scene, too many pop style vocals and dance style breaks. Why was this never released ??? track is absolutely insane, come on PESHAY/PFM we've all waited long enough to hear the original, you owe it to us man!!!! lol
Im so glad this has been posted on here though doubtful we will see an official release. Ive lost count of how many times ive played this. Those layered pads after 30 seconds; ice cold goosebumps up the yin-yang, so when the flute comes in? With reminiscence of those braveheart themed chords over the keys; the melody just sends you somewhere else... I fucking love this track, and will forever cherish it even though it remains unreleased. Peshay and PFM legends.

I just had the weirdest flashback, I'm absolutely convinced Bukem played this as his last tune of the night at The Kitchen in Dublin in 1996. He finished his set, took a bow then put on one last track from the beginning, and I'm almost certain it was this, thanks for uploading!

@@stevenchampion8137 It is not even remotely the same music, to be fair. I think Bukem was underappreciated BITD -his style of music from the early 90s, but especially around 96/97 was more like Ambient music (he calls it 'mystics' in this clip) with quality beats added. Modern DnB is more like speeded up pop music. IMO the style of music Bukem was playing from around 93 to 97 is the most important and musically interesting dance music, more so than Detroit Techno and even the Warp 'Artifical Intelligence' stuff, sadly those times are never coming back. There was some kind of magic in the air and recent attempts to reproduce this music just aren't the same.

ncshuriken I know man, its sad knowing such a tune was not released and is pretty much forgotten. I was just lucky to find this gem in one of LTJ's old sets
Nice to have confirmation on who actually made it. I always thought it sounded like a remix to Adam F's Circles but a heavily reworked version. Peshay being the originator is definitely a curveball, closest comparison i can throw towards this is maybe Psychosis or The Real Thing, which while still "intelligent" doesnt really hold any candle to this kind of arrangement. Mike must of really pushed his signature atmospherics onto this one.
No, this was debunked elsewhere (can't remember where/when). Can't remember the details but it's kinda obviously not as Bukem here states he doesn't even know what it's a remix of.

I can't tell you exactly which patch but most of the classic chill dnb made in the 90's-2000's used pads from the roland jv-1080. Check out the different string patches on one of those machines (there are a lot) and you will instantly recognize the sound from a this style of dnb. Often they would sample a chord and pitch it down or filter it a bit or throw some effects on it to get it to sound a bit more warm but yeah man, check it out if you want this sound. There is probably a virtual synth of it available I guess, idk I stopped making music a long time ago myself.
@@jeffsymons7084 Thanks. I actually picked up an XV-5050 a while back for these types of sounds. The shakuhachi lead is definitely from the JV family, but the pads I can't seem to get right on my 5050, so I'm going to hunt down a Korg Wavestation to try that.
