i tried to make this when i first started to crochet 7 years ago and needless to say it was a bit above my skill level. a few days ago my friend found it, never knowing it was one of the first patterns i tried, and asked me if i could make it for him. and i am SO excited!! im finally gonna finish what 15 year old me started!
Advice to anyone starting this!!! If you get the needed yarn before hand you can work off of the balls. I find this so much easier than bobbins- less work, they don't roll. I split the ball you only need one of by weighing it so that I won't have to join and reorganize. Also, counting the rows is easiest when you pick a single crochet and count up in a zig zag. You can totally do this!!!!
Jaclyn N I agree that counting rows zig zag or as I count mine on the diagonal line. this also makes it easy so your rows won't look blurred together when you are counting a big group of the same color. I hope this suggestion helps anyone
right now this too complicated for me. Although this really looks challenging and fun😮

Great tutorial! I think I'm going to try this in a lighter yarn with a smaller hook to get a smaller scarf :)
Yeah know that wouldn't be a bad idea... markers with numbers on them. So we can keep track of which row we are on. Especially when we are repeating certain rows in the pattern.

Great tutorial. You go slowly enough to see exactly what’s going on, and the camera work is great. I noticed that during the first few color changes, you forgot the chain one between stitches. Oops!
Leanne Bonds if you see the chart at page 4, there is no chain when you change colour. so she's doing just like the pattern.
