    I knew this video would save my ass one day. Did a CV while out of Glasshouse yesterday. This vid and a spare in the back got us home last night!
    Thanks mate

    A very informative video. No stupid mind-numbing music in the background. I like your method and attention to detail. Excellent presentation.

      Cheers for the feedback, I'll make a note to pick a slightly more elevator music style sound track.
      Thanks for taking the time to watch, I genuinely appreciate it 👍

    Clear, simple instructional video mate, top work. Maybe do a follow up video on how to dismantle, clean, regrease and fit new boot of a cv.

      Thanks, I appreciate the feedback as it's my first attempt at a how to video.
      I've pulled one apart from an amarok, replaced the boot and attempted to repack it before. Never again! I'd rather pay full RRP than attempt it a second time. VW seem to design then as a $1,000 consumable.

    I’m on my 3rd Amarok and last one had over 200k and this one heading on 200k and only recently having cv issues after suspension upgrade. There is a racing company here that does modified larger cv joints for them and Porsche which I may need to look at to stop the rot. Not cheap but probably worth it

      Are you referring to the Proformance Motorsport ones? - I'm ultra keen to try them but $2k for both sides isn't exactly pocket money.
      I think i'll do it at some point, likely when I get sick and tired of replacing them because of a pinched boot.

    Nice one mate. saved and downloaded in case I need to do it on a trip. Second hand OEM still better than an aftermarket to keep as a spare you think?

      Without a doubt! The standard GSP ones are rubbish and will break so much easier.
      Chat to a CRD tech shop and they should be able to provide a bit more insight into it if you'd like more info around it, they see roks every day and will always recommend genuine CV's (unless you're looking at the after market extreme angle ones for $$$$)

      @@wolf.n.nugget Thanks mate, CRD Coolum wrote back just after you and said the same thing. Found one for a decent price for the spares box. Appreciate the vid and response mate!!
      Will keep an eye out for future vids

    Hey mate, were you replacing the whole CV just becuase of the split rubber boot? Or was there more internal damage? Is it possible to just replace the boot or do you typically just replace the whole thing?

    • @wolf.n.nugget
      @wolf.n.nugget  5 месяцев назад

      Yes, I was replacing the whole cv because of the boot.
      I believe you can replace just the boot (dont quote me on this) however you need to press parts off/on and repack the bearings/grease. I've tried it once before and managed to get it back together only to realise it was off by ⅙ and seized up. It went straight into the bin, it's not worth the time or hassle.

    Did you notice a problem when driving. Or visually noticed the grease.

    • @wolf.n.nugget
      @wolf.n.nugget  2 месяца назад +1

      I've only once noticed a problem when driving, most of the times I've seen the damage before feeling it.
      It's 100% worth having a spare, if you have a V6 rok or an auto 4 banger you're going no-where if a CV is completely cactus.

      @@wolf.n.nugget great to know thanks. I thought if it completely fails, you drive home without it.

      On most cars you can, however most Amarok's donthave a centre lock. You'll just sit there with it sending drive through the front to the now open side of the diff.
      youtube.com/@darksidedevelopments have some cool videos on fully locking an Amarok. I'm not sure that anyone in Australia does it.

      @@wolf.n.nugget Hi!, Thanks for the video. Just to be clear, is your Amarok automatic gearbox? Mine is manual, so I wonder if a manual with a broken CV can still work by disconnecting the 4x4.
