I've always loved this car. I'm a guy, always wanted one. Love the look and the sound of the V8. And you can deck it out with some cool exterior accessories, roof racks and lights and bumpers ect.

Actually they're not made for sitting in LA traffic. Like he said : the G-Wagon was first a military vehicle, they just put leather in it, threw a few gadget that a 50k Lexus or Acura SUV has, and doubled the price. It's just good marketing.

mike m well he did go off road, i will agree. But on roads, a jeep is junk, it's noisy, has no body control at all, isn't fast.
My friend changed the jeep for an old 2002 g wagon and does the same off roading. Only thing he changed is the wheel cover at the back because he backed in a tree.
Charles-David Bérubé the newer jeeps are much faster and have much better road manners I'm gonna guess he had an 07-11 with the old motor the new ones have no trouble keeping up with a g wagon I know because I own a 2016 jeep wrangler and my brother has a g wagon we have tested that :)

When they started to get popular again i thought it was for some retro thing for a short time, but i was wrong.

seriously? it is a beautiful automobile but is not worth $154,000.00. Thank goodness for all of the idiots that waste their money leasing these as status symbols so that others can actually buy them after. my e class (E500) wagon had an original sticker price of 87k and I bought it 3 years after it was new and paid 16k (wrote a check and done). it had less than 50k miles and still had new car smell. it has been 6 years now and is the absolute best performing car I have ever had the pleasure of driving.

tfortube actualky, you can do the exact same thing today. I routinely see 2011-12 eclass wagons on autotrader for 18k (the majority are priced higher but asking price is not selling price)....the key is to pay cash as I did and get a good deal. just before responding to your post I saw 3 nice wagons in the 18-22k range that I could get for 16k cash.
granted, the miles were 78k to 117k and a bit higher than mine were but I spent 3-4 months searching and in the end bought mine at dealer auction (had a friend that had access). wagons are awesome cars that have plenty of space for my kids, dogs , golf clubs and just about anything else I ever need....and they do not have a large target market for re sell. Think about it....the market for new is basically soccer mom's who are only concerned about status symbols...once they are done with it, who is lining up to buy them?

That's because E class are mass produced . G wagons are not. They hold the value much better. A 3 year old G wagon still cost over 100k dollars. You are not comparing equal cars. I have a '16 G wagon. When I traded my '12 G wagon (traded) I got only a few thousand less than what I paid for it. . E class you could not do that.
