    Chris. The most important thing for tyre life is rotation and correct tyre pressure. I used to be a wheel alignment technician. Keep on top of the wheel alignments and rotate the 5 tyres, yes keep the spare in the rotation. If you rotate you can compensate for whatever uneven wear you may get. If you let it go too far then the tyre wont last as long.
    That remote control is a 90s throwback. Looks like the Nokia phone in "the Matrix"

    Hey mate, with the pressure your running in your bags loaded, I believe you run the risk of bending the rear control arms.
    There is a fix from on track 4x4 shop in vic they do billet replacement arms. I have them in my 62 and love them , you get the added bonus of gvm upped to 4085kg and 2” lift, not cheap . You get what you pay for.

    • @BigOzExplorers
      @BigOzExplorers  3 года назад +1

      Technically speaking when we tow we are still within Nissan’s manufacturers guidelines so we shouldn’t be bending anything... We know of On Track and decided against it, not because money was an issue but because we wanted to show people that you don’t need it where others do have money restraints. If we bend an arm, we’ll fix it at that time I guess ☺️ cheers for watching and the advice regardless! 🤙🏻

    I think it should be legal requirement to have reverse lights on all caravans or campers. I never knew either Chris.
    And we didn't know how the TowPro actually worked or that we even had to calibrate it when we first started out with our camper trailer. Oh the things we have to learn. lol

    I think its a legal requirement to have an electronic brake controller for towing anything over 750kg. Not necessarily legal requirement to have a red arc tow pro.. any brand of controller will work just fine. ...

    • @BigOzExplorers
      @BigOzExplorers  3 года назад

      Yes 100% agree! If that was worded wrong or heard wrong, I can assure you we’re on the same page! Redarc or any other break controller will do the job for over 750kg 👌🏻

    Great video as usual. I can say the sony's do run hot when doing 4k 25-30fps for more than about 8min. ( Happens to other brands too "GH5") I recommend the "smallrig" frame for your camera as it gives you a bit of protection and the ability to hang not only mic's but lights etc off them. You are giving me some great ideas for locations etc for our eventual trip north. Safe travels

    • @BigOzExplorers
      @BigOzExplorers  3 года назад +1

      Thanks Tezza! We don’t record in 4K thankfully (way too big for RUclips) but 2.7 so we have some wiggle room if I need to zoom in. We haven’t had another issue since and overall it’s been a pretty good camera otherwise! Thanks for tuning in and glad we’re stocking you up with ideas ☺️

    Interesting, we picked up the new van yesterday and our car has reverse wired in the plug but not on the van, issues with the red arc as well, won’t learn, then you start up and it has, next time no, ESC not working and reverse lights on the car come on slightly delayed when you apply the brake, original wiring from Ford and we had ECG issues and Ford blamed the trailer loom, they pulled it apart and it looks dodgy as now. Bloody frustrating, I guess my Sunday is mapped out in tracing the loom and the wiring on the van plug. Almost as if the ESC has been wired up to the wrong pin, now waiting on Jayco to supply me a coded wiring schematic on the van plug.
    Great content guys.
    Cheers.

    Good information guys. It's a shame the job wasn't done properly the first time but it's nice to hear the business rectified their mistakes. Did you ever try deflating the spare to fit in the underbody carrier?

    • @BigOzExplorers
      @BigOzExplorers  3 года назад

      We did try to deflate it and fit it underneath, which it did but very snug and required ’perfect’ placement. Since all this new wiring has been put in though it won’t fit any more. Unfortunately, the 12 pin and Anderson’s are more important than having the tyre under there 😞

    • @SingaporeSling1
      @SingaporeSling1 3 года назад

      @@BigOzExplorers would you consider 285/70 tyres to get the spare off the roof after this set wear out? You would lose 14 mm in diameter and 10 mm in width but would still look a lot better than the stock 265's.

      Hey Helen, we went with these as we had spoken to another couple of Y62 owners that were using the same coil springs. At the end of the day, I’m sure it won’t matter which ones you go with but these ones are used in the Pedders GVM upgrade range so there mighty strong!
