I have a sanyo VHS VCR from the mid 80s and the stk failed and gave the same symptoms as that Sony beta you were working on your video. Luckily I had a spare stk out of VCR I junked. I have an Onkyo receiver from the 80s and it has 3 stk modules. One stk per channel and one stk in the power supply.
Used Beta for years, added DVD for awhile, then mostly used D-VHS with HD Recording, then added a Time Warner box with the "analog hole" feature, along with a MyHd tuner card connected to a computer. Currently, using Tivo 4 for last 10+ years. Not sure but unfortunately I think someone threw out that old Sony Beta😢 Sony's Betamax picture quality was noticeably superior over VHs, but everyone chose the inferior, cheaper VHS, unfortunately. Today, all working units fetch a few hundred dollars with the better ones commanding prices closer to 1K. Love your videos.❤ Merry Christmas
Any "new" STK5441s you find may actually be used or NOS that has degraded, but luckily it's just 3 linear regulators in one package. 12V 2A, 9V 1A, 5.5V 0.5A all aren't rare specifications.
Enjoy this content to no end. Great to hear your verbalized thinking process in diagnosing these units.
Merry Christmas to you and your family enjoy your content 😊

Asalamaleikum brother.Allahis great.Pray to Allah.Greetings from Kosove
Replace the stk first. Very common on vcrs as well
Haven't watched the whole thing yet, but if this was the HF900, that'd be the main STK5441 regulator until proven otherwise.
I have this exact machine, in good working condition, but it needs a tape path alignment. Can you do it?
:o)❤
