The husband in the original is very much the same. 😂 I don’t know if they cranked it up for the remake, I’m going to see it this weekend, but he definitely made me face palm several times watching the original. Lol. I was kinda bummed they changed the ending, just because it WAS so dreadful, I haven’t watched it again in the last year but sure haven’t forgotten it. 😳 I got mad everytime I saw the trailer for this one, though, having already seen the original. It would have been SO much better if people went in blind, like I did with the original, but Blumhouse and their friggin’ trailers. Literally said out loud when I went to see Strange Darling … “mother f’ing Blumhouse and their damn trailers!” … because it showed even MORE than the trailers I saw before that for months. 🤦♀️
@@KrystleLovesHorror not to mention they clearly UP sold McAvoy in his shouting, body exposure, and overall color tone to cover up they are re hashing a story only done a few years ago.
The original version will definitely rip your soul out but it’s really well made in every aspect and a powerful fuckin movie (also haven’t seen this version yet but from the trailers the performances are a little more subtle and nuanced which adds to things)
Very much on the same page as you, I enjoyed the movie for the most part but a bit let down at the end as I had been hoping for a character arc for Ben. We've seen him be meek and avoiding confrontation throughout, his wife has called him out on it, so let's see him step up when needs be and get one of the kills. He has his moments like trying to tell his daughter to get over her teddy or jumping in the lake to save the boy but he is always thwarted. Great as it was seeing Ant make the kill at the end, it didn't feel like a development because he was brave the whole movie doing everything he could to communicate the truth to his friend, I got the impression the only reason he hadn't killed his captors already was a lack of opportunity. Still, as I always say, I'm not going to let one bad thing, even a weak ending, ruin my enjoyment of something I liked in every other way.
I'm glad we were on the same page Mike! I never watched the original either but man Scoot was pissing me off this movie. I was literally yelling at the screen stop being a bitch. Also the daughter and that damn bunny. Arg!!! Sn: a lot of people were also yelling and laughing at the screen throughout the movie so I loved the experience 😂. I had only seen the trailer for this once a while ago so I didn't really remember a lot but James McAvoy and Mackenzie are definitely the MVPs and I too couldn't help myself from being distracted by McAvoy's swoleness. ❤️🔥🧐 At the end after what went down, I literally said I hope y'all transferred your shit back.

The older we all get, the more respect I am getting for James McAvoy as an actor. He is in Hollywood but he didn't seem to have sold his soul to them. He choose great roles

I was not going to see this in theaters, but all of the reviewers I follow were giving positive reviews. And I’m happy to say it was worth the trip to the theater. The original is so dark and disturbing and while this remake switches things up a bit I enjoyed where they went with the ending. Genuinely had tears in my eyes for little Ant. James McAvoy was fantastic, but did we expect anything less? The whole cast was great to be honest. Solid remake for sure; give it an 8/10.
I hope this version is better than the original. This may be an unpopular opinion but I think the original is overrated. The first half was okay, it kept me interested, the rest was trash.
I loved the original and was really skeptical about this. Why remake a film that was mostly in English and only came out two years ago anyway? Without spoilers, it’s not a remake. It’s a reimagining. Bits are changed, small at first, but the third act is completely different. I loved the original. I was pleasantly surprised by this. McAvoy was sublime
Damn. I’ve parted ways with horror films for a bit now since I’ve gotten more into music and mainly rap, but I come back every now and then, anyway nice vid as always cuh
It might be the “best” blumhouse of late. There are parts of the danish version I preferred. The last 1/3rd of the film is more suspenseful but the Danish version I feel is horror. However I did prefer James MCavoy version over the danish version. This version also goes into some details of the family that the danish version doesn’t go into at all.
I was with One of my exes at a bus shop and a stranger walked up to me and randomly forcefully tried to kiss me on the face. I say face because I defended myself. So.i didn't feel out where it was gonna land. My point is, my ex was so unsure in the incredible weirdness that he couldn't react. Most horror nowadays underplay that lack of reaction so this movie is interesting . Slowly putting them in a pressure cooker of awkward
I've heard a couple people really like it but the fact I saw the trailer literally EVERY single time I've gone to the movies in the past 4 months makes me feel like I've already seen the entire movie.
I don’t think “Blumhouse is back” is a correct way to phrase their position right now. Seems that majority of their recent movies are really low budget shlock that they put money towards and don’t care about. It seems when they have direct involvement or actually stay inside the borders of a films production, they manage to get an entertaining film or an instant hit. This film was an easy win for them as it is a remake of a new foreign film. Not to mention probably having a much larger budget and studio backing than the original. It’s nothing to knock the film for, but we can continue to criticize Blumhouse for their decisions
i'm reading a lot of mixed reviews and takes on the original vs the remake. did the original have a more gruesome ending or story? im scared to check it out now haha
Original is ten times better…the ending….ugh Blumhouse just screwed another one…right now in my book anything with Blumhouse involved or the word Exorcist is involved in any way are STAY CLEAR
I don't get why they remade this...most of the original is in English. Also one cool part of the original is the one couple is really married. I have no interest in watching this version sounds like they ruined it... figured though it's blumhouse
for a blumhouse movie it was fine Quality and interesting. but it was also a remake copy of another film. so blumhouse gets no points! cool movie though.
About an hour in the couple makes one of the dumbest decisions in movie history and took me right out of the movie. I can’t believe a lot of people are loving this movie. It’s ok, not great. The original is way better though.

The original is a good film but one I will probably never rewatch again. The remake was really good and one I’ll definitely watch again.
The original version will definitely rip your soul out but it’s really well made in every aspect and a powerful fuckin movie (also haven’t seen this version yet but from the trailers the performances are a little more subtle and nuanced which adds to things)
The original movie is so good! Definitely not for mainstream Hollywood, but I highly recommend it.
Ant has bigger balls than the husband especially at the very end iykyk
I know right!!! My theater was cheering
Yeah, I cheered for the little man when that happened. Plus, his tears got me choked up at the end.
I was the only masculine man in the theater when I watched this and clapped so hard for AnT he was a real man

Probably the best Blumhouse movie of the year, but thats not saying much. Especially since its a remake and not an original idea from Blumhouse.

8:27 why did you have to call me out Mike?
Scooter McNairy guy has a cute look to him in the movie he does this eye thing maybe you think he needs glasses my nephew Theo does something similiar
I like that we get essentially the same movie with two very different endings done well, I enjoy both endings.

In the original they were killing couples all over the world in different locations. Weird how they didn’t utilize that

I just KNOW that this movie won’t be AS gnarly as the Original. That’s why I won’t even bother going out to support it.
