I can heavily relate to having to listen to sounds on freesound. That website has a hidden price of having to listen to tens of low quality sounds, sounds that make you uncomfortable and sounds with this weird high pitched squeaking noise
This game gives me the vibes of an something obscure, yet fun that you’d find on something like the Wii Shop Channel for some reason. I love the art style. Also glad I’m not the only one who’s struggled with fire particles before lmao.
Really appreciated the attitude towards learning and experimentation; it's very motivating to see as a newbie and I made sure to subscribe so I can see more content like that in the future. Thanks man!
I've been following you for a really long time but I haven't gotten around to commenting on any of your videos. Just wanted to say you're one of my favorite gamedevs on youtube, you content is top-notch. This video inspired me to maybe turn some of my scratch games into Godot projects!
This video is gold. Super entertaining, but also useful. The giraffe is adorable and his neck is hilarious! I'm going to have to take a closer look at tweens in Godot...
This is the first video of yours I've seen and I love it! Currently trying to figure out if the sign off was normal "Ciao for now" or a Eating pun of "Chow for now".
I've got more braces in my mouth than teeth. Once I get all that removed, the spit sounds should ease off. In the mean time I'll try to find some inexpensive options for post-processing going forward. Though, I do worry that if I remove all the gross noises that there will be no commentary left.
It's amazing how many games can be boiled down to Flappy Bird mechanics. The controls are a little loose and sometimes the giraffe's head goes too far and sometimes not far enough. I'm on Linux, but hopefully that doesn't affect things. Tried the Windows version through WINE and got a weird crash.
It's nice to see him actually being excited for a project all the way through instead of him eventually becoming tired and the project becoming mentally taxing
I love how the giraffe looks like TBH (Autism creature) a bit, the stubby legs and the general vibe just makes me think it would randomly just get happy to see the onion rings and scream: YIPPEE!
I have an idea ! what if, when a bomb hits the giraffe neck, the giraffe dies. it would make more sense and make the game harder. The best part about this is than you can put less bombs so the screen doesn't seem overloaded. maybe it could be a special mode, or maybe the whole game changes, idk, it's up to you... (loved the video btw)
I really like the idea to rework old works, I realy like the game for what it trys to be. I also found a bug: if you spamm "w" and "s" and eat a onion ring the game will crash. Besides that, everything is nice.
very educational I love when I see a giraffe with a extendible neck running in a 2d line eating floating onion rings doging bombs! I also now know how to solve life
How do you feel about the difference between GDScript 1 vs 2? Cause... I got scared when you made that 100 hours video a while back. I just wanted too turn my idea of a Halo 32x sidescroller shooter into reality in 2D mode. I hear it's the simpler mode. In case you ask, 32x refers to the Sega 32x. And I do realize 2D mode means no 3D polygons but 2D can still use other 32x abilities like sprite scaling.
I like GDScript 2 better. I had to relearn a few things, but not nearly as much as I thought I would. Plus, everything I did have to relearn had been improved. Less reliance on strings, some changes to methods and variable names, a couple handy new features and some performance improvements.
@@LazyAlarm So other than the new tiling system and 2D rendering options would you say that Godot 4.1 at this point is better for 2D in general? Considering what you said about GDScript 2 being better and being overall better to deal with than Godot 3's GDScript, I can only assume the workflow for making games regardless of 2D or 3D is better now right? I have a DX10.1/GL3.3 capable laptop so I could go either 3.6 upon release or 4.1 and set OpenGL as default.
amazing game! really reminds me of an old PC game i used to play called like Playtypus or something, by gamehouse very nostalgic while still giving a fresh coat of paint XD amazing video, too!
You could made this in 2D at all, just by making some normal maps. So you get shadows and so on with an 2D image. I mean: I would prefer 3D too, because i suck at 2D art, but... If you already have the art, it is much easier to draw some normals and get pretty much the same result.
hey i tried playing your game and it's kind of broken, first of all my health keeps lowering out of nowhere and second of all the game likes to crash sometimes.
@LazyAlarm Hey! I'm sorry, upon rereading my comment, I realized I wasn't being very helpful. Your remake just needs a little bit of tweaking and it'll shine. I think the shadows look a bit too aggressive. It looks very dark and color-muted compared to the original. If you are able to brighten thinks up and adjust the colors a bit, I think it'll pop much more. :)

very true
I've used that website for so long, I still have a password that is only a five letter word.

Shoutout to the person who liked giraffes and onion rings, this was a wonderful origin story for this game

I played it and it crashed when I ate a onion ring at one health but I had fun as long as it lasted.
Cool and cute project
OK cool

idk how u make game dev look so interesting lol, great vid
Watching this was really motivating! The tecniques used were really cool and it's heartwarming to know how much fun you had with this project
I think these are the types of projects that are more fun to make than actually play x)
I definitely think that's a nice way to chill out though! :)
i always love seeing people who make great games and then seeing that they started on scratch like me
I love your content man. Its the most real gamedev shit ive seen!
Is he content?

I already fixed that since the start
i know this should be in the "Perfect Shit Game Gallery" which does not exist but i wish it did
I love how so many devs that started in scratch are remaking their games in actuall game engines. Small thing but makes me happy ah :)
So excited for a new video!
Thank you, seeing you enjoyment of the process and experience is inspiring. 🙏
3D constrained in 2D is called 2.5D fyi /lh (as is 2D characters or assets within a 3D environment)
The mario music is well appreciated, and i like this style of editing on these game dev type videos! keep up the good work!
I'm glad you had a good time making the game. A healthy dose of learning and fun without frustration.

you can feel just how much fun you were having while making this game dude!
Ima need you to remake my life next in the Godot engine
This is great! I also started game dev with Scratch, amazing tool for learning to program :D
Whooo LazyAlarm uploaded today!
Wow this guy is underrated. This is actual good content unlike the other stuff on yt.
Amazing ! This is why i love gamedev so much
Earned a sub, my man. I noticed it's been a couple of months since your last video. I hope you don't stop making them!
Nice giraffe! I love giraffes!
Also, nice commentary, good job.
This is the first video of yours I've seen and I love it!
Currently trying to figure out if the sign off was normal "Ciao for now" or a Eating pun of "Chow for now".
Glad that you're keeping your sanity and still having fun, very cool video!
We need a game engine that uses blocks like scratch but has more powerful features and can support 3D
Pretty sure there's a free plugin for Godot that does just that
This question has been ignored alot but, how can you use nintendo music and not get a copyright strike?
I just hope by the grace of Nintendo that they don't strike me down.
I love the animations 🤩 particularly the prance and the death
the artstyle of the new one is nostalgic
Please get the audio plugin RX MOUTH DECLICK and run it on your audio.

The bombs keep dissapeering in the OG version and i get sniped by bombs
edit: i get hurt even when its not on the layer im on
3:35 I swear I have to re-learn `[x] Apply Modifiers` every time I re-export something new from Blender to Godot.
thx for making your videos you made me to realize i can code to

this was a gamering video
i miss my scratch (im banned)
yo what was that at 8:08???
looks sick
maybe the onion ring should continue to move while the particle effect plays out instead of freezing
i have 2 bugs
1. sometimes getting the onion ring will cost a life sometimes
2. the grass dissapears sometimes
thats all i know so far
GIRAFFE IS MY FAVOURITE ANIMAL YESSSSSSSSSS
well i'll definitely be stealing some of these ideas, thanks dad :D
Monday left me broken
I would love to do this
there is an annoying bug where if you spam the up and down keys while eating an onion ring the game crashes
How do you make that speech wave?
You need an item theat restores health unless I missed one that does.
Godot more like sticking at your Hyatt for the rizzler
YAY NEW UPLOAD
Can you share source code of the bone animations or at least set up a tutorial?
hell yeah another lazy alarm video already?
Very investing how you did a lot of different ways to do this I would've done this a hole different way in godot
This morning I was thinking about this
amazing game! really reminds me of an old PC game i used to play called like Playtypus or something, by gamehouse
very nostalgic while still giving a fresh coat of paint XD
amazing video, too!
why does it say that the file could be dangerous
The art style reminds me a lot of early Scott Cawthon stuff
1:03 aaaa idk if u did it or not but use auto smooth and not shade smooth. Auto smooth is way better.
7:27 I never finished a game in 3 years of learning so I’m just seeking for that experience 😅
Genuine question,
Why did you not just swap out the eyes for the X mesh instead of fighting with a blend shape?
I wanted to learn blend shapes
Fair enough. Carry on!@@LazyAlarm

Good job - look good
Question : Why did you not make a play in browser option ?
Tried, but it broke the game and I didn't feel like trying to fix it.
@@LazyAlarm Godot 4 export to HTML does seam a bit bad for now - I hope it improves.
I should be sleeping but i prefer watching this
The game looks very similar to "oh my giraffe".
Oh, man, I love the look of that giraffe. It should blink to make it obvious those are eyes, not nostrils, though.😉
when i played it the game crashed a lot :/
I'll be real, I like the look of your old one much better... still, good job
I appreciate the honesty!

Does it have rtx
Btw ngl the scratch one is better
I disagree
YEAAAH , the only thing that make godot bad is the lack of documentation, like everything else is great, just, pls tell me what stuff does
round of applause
i love giraffes
my first 3 stuffed animals in my whole life were all giraffes (as far as i can remember)
Is there any way you can release the game on scratch even though its not finished?
There's a link from the itch page, here's a direct one: scratch.mit.edu/projects/406596989/
@@LazyAlarm thanks
Love your vids but why don't you ever support Mac
I find a lot of weird bugs appear when I port to mac. Oftentimes the game is unplayable, and I couldn’t be bothered to try and fix it.
suggestion: "I Remade My Game After 5 Years"
wheres the scratch game?
Wow Good Game!
Yay

Sick!
That giraffe looks so cute!!!!... Too bad he must die...
