  • Picked up the new St. Croix Panfish Series rod that was redesigned for 2022. I have the older version of the Panfish Series and it is a nice rod that is enjoyable to fish. I believe this redesigned rod is even better than the previous version. While it has essentially the same blank and guides, the reel seat is where it shines. No more threads grinding into your palm after a few hours of fishing. Outside of that, it is a nice rod at a moderate price point that is a joy to fish for any smaller fish species.

    Thanks for the review. I've been looking at that exact rod and you're the only one who has done one on a 6' 4" light that i know of. So thanks for the video and your thoughts on it

      You're welcome. It's definitely not one of the more popular models. Let me know if you have any questions.

    hello what reel did you use in this video? and what weight was the barrel? was it perhaps a 3.5-10.5gr? thanks in advance and congratulations for the video! (:

    Thank you for the great review. I ended up buying the rod and really like it. Only thing is my casts are not going too far, using 6 lb test line. What lb test line are you using on yours?

    • @TheFishingNomad
      @TheFishingNomad  Год назад

      Either 4 or 6 depending on what and where I'm fishing. Do you have an appropriate amount of weight to load the blank on the cast?

    Always appreciate your honest feedback. Are the 2022 panfish series rods better than the 2021 models?

    • @TheFishingNomad
      @TheFishingNomad  2 года назад

      Tough question. To be honest, I can't really feel the difference. The biggest noticable difference is in the handle. The 2022 is better in that regard because you don't have any exposed threads. St. Croix says that they used better and updated components in the 2022 model, but the impact of that is probably minimal in my opinion. If I had the choice/option, I'd buy whichever model I could get a better deal one and wouldn't spend more money just to have the 2022 model.

      All good for different reasons. They're solid rods.

    how would you compare the action to the panfish elite 6' you have? is the elite in UL better for jigging than the light panfish?

    • @TheFishingNomad
      @TheFishingNomad  2 года назад

      The Legend Elite has a more moderate action. The blank bends more uniform throughout. This rod has a faster action with the top portion of the bank being very soft, while the lower section is very stiff. While typically you'd probably want a faster action for jigging, I prefer the Legend Elite for that. The Legend Elite being a little stiffer (even though it's an UL) makes it better for jigging, at least in my opinion.

    You said you have a legend elite panfish rod too right ? Do you think that rod is worth price. I’ve always wanted to get one but that price tag is hard to swallow

    • @TheFishingNomad
      @TheFishingNomad  Год назад

      Tough question to answer. Do I think that rod is 3.5x better than this rod because it costs 3.5x more? No. Do I think that rod is significantly better and the best panfish rod I've ever fished? Yes. Long story short, I probably wouldn't pay the close to $400 for a new one, but I'd pay up to around $300 for a used one. If you look around, one usually comes up for sale used every once in a while. That's how I got mine.

    hello, this rod is perhaps the 2,13MT with a weight of 3,5-10,5gr.? I would like to make that rod to fish both in the sea with micro metal jig up to 10 grams, and also use it in spinning to all predators to be undermined with a Fast / extrafast rod but always a Light / UltraLight also in rivers and natural lakes, what do you think? obviously if the fishing rod in the video is this one of the description you have removed all my doubts otherwise I would like an opinion from an experienced fisherman like you, thanks in advance. have a good day.

      10 gram jig? You need a way heavier rod!

    Have you tried the new St Croix Avid pan fish rod?

    • @TheFishingNomad
      @TheFishingNomad  Год назад

      I have. Very nice rod. Slight upgrade from this one. Biggest selling point for me was the 15 year warranty vs the 5 year. 15 years is a long time and I'm sure something will go wrong with the rod before then.

      @TheFishingNomad Thanks for the response. I tend to shy away from St. Croixs lower end offerings. But when I saw that St Croix had an Avid model for the panfish line up I was considering on getting one.

      @@ReelFrontierwhat is the difference between this and the avid panfish rod? I have just the panfish series rod but I might upgrade to the avid panfish if it is a lot better upgrade and plus the warranty is worth it in the end as well. I just like to know the difference thanks.
