You can to remove thatch from the lawn which can help the overall appearance allowing more of the green to show. Generally with Bermuda though as long as you mow often to where very little clipping come off the reel thatch isn’t an issue. Also when using a scarifier or turf rake, you don’t want to get to aggressive with it. The reason you hear not to use it is because how Bermuda grows both vertically and horizontally. As long as you don’t set the hoc too low you should be good to go. Hope this make sense. The last thing i would add is that i wouldn’t say it’s necessary and that you need to go buy a scarifier but is something you can do if you choose to. Thank you for the question and the comment!!! 👍🏻
