You are right @Ronnie Wheeler. We are the guys standing around drinking all of his cold beer and making rude comments while he still does all of the work.
One thing I dislike about your content is how gosh darn easy you make it all look. That sheet metal magically fits every time? And without heavily-bandaged hands? Either sorcery, or an amazing craftsman.
I LOVE these 'old school' signs. Modern technology/etc can make some pretty signs... But the charm and beauty of signs like the ones you create just can't be beat. And being able to include more modern 'insides' just makes your signs more appealing not only to look at, but to maintain.
5:35 Those things should bring back memories. I was a crew chief on F-106 fighter jets in the Air Force in the early 1960s, and we use them to do sheet metal repairs on the jets
What an amazing build. I was totally in the dark about how you were going to add the electrics. However… I think it was a missed opportunity to add a 1-2-3 flashing string of bulbs in the rocket tail. But overall an stellar object!
Awesome, it would be nice if you add 3 red lightbulbs small medium then large coming out the back of the rocket so it looked like it actually had fire coming out
I am with you concerning the use of those flat bits for punching holes in sheet metal. They get the job done in a safe manner. They are a fraction of the cost of a twist drill bit. They won't grab and screw themselves in like a twist drill will.
Thanks for showing that notcher: 1:39. That is going to save me some time on a up coming project. Way better than making 2x cuts and forget about a consistent angle.
Absolutely love your show or video whenever you call it I am 66 years old I have been making signs for three or four years now. I am basically doing the exact same thing metal no aluminum
I was a Neon Tubender for 20 years till LED's wiped us out and owed my own sign shop,,,,It was great to see someone still using the ole tried and true methods og Signology,,,Kudos
One of my favorite things in the world is working in my garage with the gate open and the rain pouring down outside. It's so chill, soothing, and I feel warm and cozy at my workbench.
As a kid we used to travel the desert southwest, and you are right, most/many of those space/jet age signs are gone. Love that design and work, Thanks.
WOW. So precisely imperfect. You did a fantastic job on the sign, from the design to the weathering, you could fool anyone into thinking that it is much older than it is.
Your content always makes me wonder; where/how do you even find clients for this stuff? Your works amazing, just really speaks to find a niche and you’ll find work. Amazing job man. You always impress if nothing else , with your inventiveness.
The residents of Avon will tell you that's it's not called A Von, it's called Ah (like After) Von. Awesome, it's about an 1hour and 20 minutes away, I'll have to go check it out!. Another great job!
The sign looks great on the new doughnut van. There is a short video showing it on their Facebook page (23rd July). Mr Treat, another fantastic project.
Well Mr Treat, I can't tell you what a delight it is to see another of your videos posted up to youtube. I loook forward to every one that I've seen - keep 'em coming . . .
There are several signs like this on my area on old buildings looking to come down. It was driven by tourists and old businesses just waiting to be replaced. I'd love to get a hold of them and refurbish them, even if they are very business specific. That and I wish I had the tools to make some of these, I always thought these signs along with neon lights would be a great hobby to have.
I make signs. What you do in this video is grade A work! Not many guys like you that make the dimensional stuff. Thanks so much for sharing! I just posted a vid of me doing a 5' x 10' flat sign and that is nothing compared to this. Awesome.
I'm missed you a lot, and of course you deliver with an awesome sign. Vintage is only an hour and half from me, I live in Syracuse. So I think I will gather the kids and head out there to check it out.
first time viewer, immediately subbed at the tri-pod concentration comment. Pure gold and absolute fact. I may be missing it, but I was wondering what paint sprayer you're using? I don't see the link and would like to support you on amazon if possible. Just got a 130w laser for my shop and a 10 gallon California air pig and have been in the market for a sprayer just like you're using here. Keep doing what you're doing, fantastic workmanship and superb editing. Very happy find on youtube for me.
I never click on videos so fast 😂 the combination of art, engineering, and craftsmanship is so beautiful to watch. Always work the wait for a Treat video 🤙😂
Are there any books or instruction documents you have found and could recommend on the design and construction techniques used back in the day to produce signs like these?
Ashamed to say it took me this long to getting around to watching this video. I just love your design aesthetic and this is no exception. Brilliant execution all around, with lots of fun little details. Also, I really want donuts now. Thanks for sharing!
The first 1,000 people to use this link will get a 1 month free trial of Skillshare: skl.sh/wesleytreat08211
This combination of skilled art and electrical parts makes the best content I could ever watch on RUclips.
Thanks!
“Makes me feel like I’ve got a friend in the shop”
Brother, you got LOTS of friends in the shop!
You are right @Ronnie Wheeler. We are the guys standing around drinking all of his cold beer and making rude comments while he still does all of the work.
🍺 👍 😁
Amazing how much work Wesley can get done in under 22 minutes. This project would have taken me at least an hour.
i usually only watch videosof projects that are footmade but, because of you, i now like projects that are handmade 🖤
That sounds like a challenge 😜
@@WesleyTreat i believe in you
🤣
Drop everything! New vid ❤️

Absolutely floored at how awesome the sign turned out. I shouldn’t say sign, it is art! Hope you are doing well
To quote a meme - why not both?
Well that looks crazy cool!
Where you been my friend? It's good to see you! This build takes me back to the sputnik and cactus decoration days.
I LOVE these 'old school' signs. Modern technology/etc can make some pretty signs... But the charm and beauty of signs like the ones you create just can't be beat.

6:30 - "Is that everything? I think that's everything... yes?... yes, that's it. Ok, lets do it again!"
What an amazing build. I was totally in the dark about how you were going to add the electrics. However… I think it was a missed opportunity to add a 1-2-3 flashing string of bulbs in the rocket tail. But overall an stellar object!
I have always thought that Sign Makers never got the Notoriety and Credit for their Incredible Contribution to the Art World!!!
Awesome, it would be nice if you add 3 red lightbulbs small medium then large coming out the back of the rocket so it looked like it actually had fire coming out
I’m obsessed! This level of craftsmanship is fantastic, and it is so nice to see something done by hand!
Just found this channel and I could watch all day. Have to watch them all now.
I am with you concerning the use of those flat bits for punching holes in sheet metal. They get the job done in a safe manner. They are a fraction of the cost of a twist drill bit. They won't grab and screw themselves in like a twist drill will.
You actually got many many friends in your shop. All the time you filming you work.
If I ever open a business and need a sign this is the kind of stuff I want. Hand made goodness.
Always enjoy watching Wesley. Always find ideas and inspiration! Thanks for posting.
He's one of a kind, and never ceases to amaze for sure.
Thanks for showing that notcher: 1:39. That is going to save me some time on a up coming project. Way better than making 2x cuts and forget about a consistent angle.
Orders
Ordered one from the link and got it today!
Absolutely love your show or video whenever you call it I am 66 years old I have been making signs for three or four years now. I am basically doing the exact same thing metal no aluminum
I miss seeing those signs from the past. So many memories, so many lost signs from my past.
Rewatched this today because Al Go Rithm recommended it again. Still impressed with the mix of craftsmanship and dry humor.
Interesting how I just saw Jimmy Direstas post about this very channel, now I get it as a recommended video. You've found favor with the algorithm!
Absolutely amazing bit of craftsmanship, I can't imagine trying to make this myself. Bravo!
Wesley's got a new video up!!
Today is gonna be a great day.
I was a Neon Tubender for 20 years till LED's wiped us out and owed my own sign shop,,,,It was great to see someone still using the ole tried and true methods og Signology,,,Kudos
I came for the metal work, you had me at the weathering techniques, but a Skull -n- Spade cameo, I think I need a moment for myself now.
WoW! Your art should be in MOMA! Perhaps it is. I love it.
Nothing better than good design and a skilled craftsman.
This is a tremendous project! Love the retro look. Something like this would look great on top of the carnival ride I'm restoring.
One of my favorite things in the world is working in my garage with the gate open and the rain pouring down outside. It's so chill, soothing, and I feel warm and cozy at my workbench.
My building is metal, so it makes a nice sound. Except when I'm trying to film.
@@WesleyTreat sadly my garage roof is made of lace these days
As a kid we used to travel the desert southwest, and you are right, most/many of those space/jet age signs are gone. Love that design and work, Thanks.
So happy to see you back. Also, this kind of content just doesn't exist - ACTUAL sign making/design. You knocked this one out of the god damn park.
WOW. So precisely imperfect. You did a fantastic job on the sign, from the design to the weathering, you could fool anyone into thinking that it is much older than it is.
Ahh, a video from Wesley Treat! Preemptive like engaged...
Great film, well shot and edited. So entertaining and interesting. Those tools are so unique. Sign is stunning! Mahalo for sharing! : )
So missed your vids. Always astounded by your work. Makes me smile - what a great way to end the day (UK Time)!
You know at first I thought you were a little strange...actually that hasn't changed but you are Awesome! Subscribed!!!
Nice to see something from you again. Hope you are doing well.
Hey! You got a friend on this side of the camera! Great work dude.
Wesleys got a video posted! And it’s a sign! Oh boy oh boy!
WOW! First time viewer here. All by hand! No CNC!....You Sir are truly a first rate artist!👍
Glad to see your ok. Missed your videos.
I just discovered this guy a few days ago. Already joined his Patreon and getting my shopping list ready.
"They're...shart! No, wait..."
I'm ded.
The 1 1/2 inch step down bit works even better than the wood paddle bit,I do arcade restoration and need holes as well, try it out one day!
I've found the spade bit to be faster for something like .040". Plus, there's no chance of overshooting the correct step.
Really cool build. I came for the rocket donuts, stayed for the weathering.
What a cool sign
Wow. The end product is one helluva piece of art work. That was amazing. Really. It looks amazing.
This video made me hungry!!
Time for me to hit the Beat!
🤣🤣💪🏼🙏🏻❤️
This video was a real treat!
Man, I wanted this to end up looking cool so bad…. And it absolutely did. Looks so friggin awesome.

You sir, are very skilled and talented.
Great sign. I like the ligt bulb sprinkles.
Dont, know how I ended up watching it... But i LOVE IT
Glad to see ceramic bulb sockets! Way to go.
Another random youtube suggestion for you video that was actually kinda cool. Got a new subscriber today man!
Well Mr Treat, I can't tell you what a delight it is to see another of your videos posted up to youtube.

Been building about 59 years love the spade bit will try it thanks
Sadly, Irwin has stopped making them with the spurs. There's a brand called Vulcan that I've been meaning to try, though.
Trust me, Wesley got talent!
Floored as always. You are the Michelangelo of retro signs.
Easily one of the best maker sites on RUclips.
I love everything you do Wesley! Keep them coming! I like how you made a beautiful sign and then weathered it to make it look old and rusty.
Gracias! The weathering is my favorite part.
He lives!

You are an amazing Artist Wesley! Thank you for sharing this. :)
FANTASTIC
Great to see you back Wesley. Beautiful work. My inner Pavlovian dog misses the table saw.
Just randomly dropped in here. And i can easily say that this is the most beautiful thing i have seen on youtube. You have my support!
I've been waiting on this video for a while after I saw the project on Instagram. I was not disappointed.
I've worked with sign makers using automation, it's interesting to see how to approach it manually.
So sick.
You need a shop dog!! Best friend you could ever have in there!
There's a dog about, but she doesn't like to come in the shop much. Too noisy. She shows up occasionally on my Instagram.
Amazing! Something so awesome about a weathered 3D sign
Wow, looks great! 🚀
The holes were correct. The bolts were wrong. LOL Good content.
I know this sounds daft. But l wish you put more on here more often. Your projects are really facinating to watch. Thank you x
Me too
This was really neat to watch, I subscribed.
