I think Joel approaches "liking a song" from a very specific angle of liking the musicality versus the message or emotion. There are some songs I love that I know are not technically very good but they are expressing something that moves me so I can ignore the mediocre technical aspect
He's built to think like that; in technicalities. Like I dont think he can enjoy music without thinking abt that stuff.
@@mrfrogkingg Yeah, I'm a musician as well but I enjoy music both as a listener and as an analyst. I will say that sometimes the analyst side can take over and ruin a moment, but I'm known to listen to IceJJFish's Christian songs on repeat because I like the lyrics. 😂
We need a video of roomie just recommending underrated songs

I know im not roomie but When You See My Friends by Mayday Parade and all their songs tbch are great too!

Beyonce did an interview on the inauguration admitting she lipsynced cause she didn't have enough time to rehearse with the band and also it's extremely cold that time of year. And she said it shouldn't be about me and she didn't wanna take that risk.
Your magistei
I remember a news network covered the matter of her lip synching, and the host suggested sticking your face in the freezer and trying to sing a full verse. I tried, and it didn't go well.

15:25 Black Or White isn't problematic at all. It's about against the racism, Cause back then people didn't really respected each other cause the skin color, And Michael wanted to put end to it. Another reason is cause of the allegations against him who made him angry by saying that "he wanted to bleach his skin to white" and he wanted them to know that even if his skin color changed, He still Michael. That's why he made this song.
"Cause back then people didn't really respected each other cause the skin color." Yeah.... just "back then"... definitely not anymore...
@@IceMetalPunk Still today there are some, But then it was really a lot. And racism was never a good thing
@@legendarymusicisforever3697 And back then, there was less racism than there was in the time of slavery. There's always "some" progress, that doesn't mean there's been *enough* progress yet.
@@IceMetalPunk So that's why this song was created, To stop people from doin' those things and to save the future world. There's always hope
There was a third thing apperantly, called the Panther Dance that was added to the end of this music video which confused the crap out of people. It was apperantly supposed to be "Michael turns into a black panther and is freed from the studio, allowed to dance in the streets without restraint" but the dance got emotional for Michael and he started bashing a car with a crowbar.
They removed that part shortly after publication.
However, in Joel's defense, a white guy hearing "problematic" with race issues is usually a flag to gtfo. I mean, we risk being called racist by naming the largest river in Nigeria.... And the country's name if you're French.

I'm not really a Beyonce fan, but Halo and Best Thing I Never Had are 2 songs I never get tired of hearing.
I like Justin Timberlake's music. Especially everything done with Timbaland. Cry Me A River is minimalistic but interesting and that's why it's good.
Yeah , I too disagreed with him there
He is songwriter so he wants the song to be to idealistic like setting of the cry me a river was like acapella but as a norm if you will listen to it keeping the songwriter aside, you will like it.The MV was great(&controversial) lyrics were great and song was good
I really like "Love Never Felt So Good" by Justin Timberlake and Michael Jackson
I'm not the biggest fan of Cry Me A River, but I love others of his, like Mirrors, and the song Murder that he did with Jay Z - he definitely knows how to be creative when it comes to instrumentals.

Ok serious question. How is Michael Jackson’s song “Black or White” problematic??? He’s literally singing it doesn’t matter what you damn skin color is to be his “brother.” I really want to know why people are bitching about that song.
Because as he got older and he had his skin bleached (he developed vitiligo) and he got surgery’s on his nose it seemed like he was favouring white people and wanted to look like a white person.
@@janusnightshade9848
THATS why people are saying it’s problematic ??
Fair enough say his changes etc were but you can’t say an entire song (that’s dedicated to saying who gives a f what skin colour you are) is problematic bc of the singer behind it.
Also yes he had vitiligo so bleached his skin to avoid the ‘patchy’ stage I believe but also because he has severe dysphoria. He hated his whole self, hence all the surgeries and drastic changes. He was basically tortured as a child and forced into what he was from a very very young age - so understandably went a bit crazy, to say the least.
Also the nose thing is stupid. How many people nowadays get rhino’s done and no one bats an eye 🙄 (I get it’s not you saying these things, it’s just frustrating the way people make all these claims of ‘problematic this and that’ when they use the stupidest excuses to ‘cancel’ etc)
@@janusnightshade9848 Joel said the SONG was considered problematic. Not Jackson himself. I already know all about his issues and skin condition but I was referring to what Joel said where people said the song was problematic. That’s why I was asking. He didn’t say anything about his Jackson’s personal life.
Sad to say but people in this day and age aren't educated enough about racism and thinks that there is still racial superiority
Michael jackson didn’t bleach his skin, he got pale because of the vitiligo and lupus he was dealing with
I would love to see a video dedicated to the Jackson 5 that would be AWESOME!

"Waiting on the world" has an incredible message. When songs carry a great message in them, artists choose to keep the chord structure quite simple like how Lennon did with "Imagine." I think John Mayer was trying to do the same.

Waiting for fellow MJ fans to tell me what Joel meant when he talked about black or white. 😐
From what I remember, the original Black or White music video (which had been hyped up for weeks and had a premiere on prime time) they aired the music video which everyone is familiar with, and as the video wrapped up (with the peoples faces morphing), a black panther (an actual cat) walked through the back of the set and into an alley way. The panther morphed into MJ and he proceeded to destroy a car while yelling. As police sirens and lights were seen he morphed back to a panther and ran from the scene.
A lot of people were upset, since they thought MJ was encouraging vandalism, and fed into certain stereotypes and thought it negated the positive message of the song.
MJ promptly removed that portion of the video and issued an apology.
@@shan4580 do we know what his actual message was meant to be from the new music video? I remember the first time I saw that and it was so odd and out of place and creepy. :/
