    I had a Hi-Lift for years in my jeep. This looks like something I'd like to add to my personal response kit. Way to out a new spin on an old tried and true design. Well done.

    I bought my Hi-Lift Jack back in the fall of 2000 for off-road use, and I still use it to this day! There is no other Jack like it! Now that I've seen the new First Responder Jack I will have to look into getting it! I also would like to say that the Hi-Lift accessories are second to none!

    The Hi-Lift jack has been known as "sheepherder's jack" and Handyman jack since it was invented by our founder back in 1895. This First Responder Jack is of the same line of Hi-Lift jacks, with improvements specifically designed to make this a rescue tool. The improvements were designed by firefighters, for firefighters. Still a Hi-Lift through and through...

    Here in northern Maine we work and play outside in all sorts of conditions. Hi-Lift is standard equipment, and I don't know anyone who doesn't have at least one.

  • @hiliftjacks
    @hiliftjacks  11 лет назад +4

    Ideally yes. That's why every Hi-Lift jack shipped from our facility is tested twice for performance under load. It is very important that you keep the pins/springs lubricated and in good working condition, just like with any piece of machinery.

    Just got two of these to be used in conjunction with our rescue and also for RIT applications. Had a quick training on them last night and they seem pretty cool. They seem to do a lot of different things that will be very helpful!!!!

    I may have to make some modifications to my standard hi-lift, this video gave me some excellent ideas! A hi-lift jack is an indispensable tool for a farmer, I would hate to be in a world where they didn't exist. Already mentioned in the comments, but be sure to keep the lifting mechanism well lubricated or they can "stick". I have no experience with the first responder hi-lift, but mine is quite picky about that. :)

    I'm not a firefighter and I will never need this in my life...

  • @hiliftjacks
    @hiliftjacks  10 лет назад +12

    turmat01 - All Hi-Lift Jacks lower "step-by-step" in the same manner that they lift. The Jack is designed to lower this way until there is no more weight on the lifting mechanism.

    If that works as well as shown here, this is a GREAT tool! Can you release it smoothly? for example, those huge concrete blocks, can you put them back down slowly or can you just release and home stuff don't fly everywhere as it falls down in place?

    great tool i use my hi lift nearly every day as a mobile plant fitter great for lifting or pulling vehicles lifting heavy parts i also use mine when reparing rubber tracks on drill rigs instead of a chain pull much faster and and easier.

  • @hiliftjacks
    @hiliftjacks  12 лет назад +1

    Yes, when you release the load to lower it only lowers one step at a time...just like the lifting process.

  • @hiliftjacks
    @hiliftjacks  13 лет назад +1

    Thanks for commenting franklast. The intent of the First Responder is not to replace the Hurst Jaws of Life, but to complement it. Also, to offer a lower cost extrication and rescue tool option for all rescue vehicles, allowing for a quicker response during that golden hour.

    At 1:47 surely those safety wedges are being put in upside down. On the top as is shown, the surface is on an angle allowing something to slide down, whereas the bottom surface has an increasing in height series of flat surfaces which are parallel to the ground or in other words perpendicular to the force of gravity.

It's specialized with some different components that make it more beneficial for firefighters and rescue personnel. Our standard model Hi-Lift Jacks allow you to do about 4-5 extrication maneuvers. The special components of the First Responder Jack allow you to do 12-15 different extrication and rescue maneuvers.
