- In the long, long history of humanity, every so often you get a culture defining, generation defining spark of creativity - something that pushes the envelope of what we thought was artistically possible. Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa. Mozart's symphonies. And who could forget about the bored ape NFTs? Well, ladies and gentlemen, here I present to you the next big thing, the Melon Carver 3000.

So this is what this man’s been doing for 3 months
And it's only 8 min!
In one year, his videos went from complex physics recreation with lots of math involved to this.
Yeah, the Michael Reeve effect strikes again.
cater to the majority....the majority who disliked school.
where you learn to read, write, count etc
To be fair building a literal robot was easier than making a physics engine
RUclips demands it. Source: I'm a failed RUclipsr.
He seems to be having fun, I doubt he'll need you
swap the drill for a router and it’ll make a mess much more effectively.
Lovely exit line!
This. You were so close!
And if you can't, reduce your speed on the axis because your motor seem a little on the potato range ("Surprise") to not be able to keep up. If I remember motor, reducing the motor speed may help you with tork (but then you will need to decrease your axis speed... again). Also keep in mind drill bits are for drilling ("up/down") not to go side way.
If you cannot find router bits on the cheap, look for sheetrock bits. They make them for Dremels and the like. Other things you could do is have the depth be computer controlled and repeat the pattern over and over again, each time cutting a wee bit deeper. Fun fun!
You need to up the speed on the motor too. And the router bit. Drill bits has only cutting faces in the front. Router bits has cutting faces on all edges...
Buy an endmill, cutting edges on the bottom and on the flutes
Now imagine if this was strapped to someone's head. You could even record yourself on a cassette tape asking them if they want to play a game.
This took a dark turn really quickly!
@@oosmanbeekawoo You have a lack of appreciation for dark turns and therefore must experience one to truly appreciate life.
@@puppergump4117 this took a dark turn really quickly!
So great to see you paving new pathways with such great innovation. Absolutely beautiful self portrait👏👏👏
You can make your robot much better by:
putting a big croshaped spike in the watermoleon stand that way it it cant move and use a lidar to dynamically addjust the drillbit distance from the watermelons surface. (you will also need a little clamp at the top to stop the melon from moving upwards)
Isn’t LiDAR much better for more medium distances, I feel like a ultrasonic sensor might be a bit cheaper and more effective.
@@carrotylemons1190 or even an IR proximity sensor
or just an endstop switch would do
Spring loaded bar with pressure sensor that moves ahead of the drill would work as well. Arguably quite a crude method but it should be cheap and fairly easy to make.
This has to be one of the dumbest things I've ever seen
I love it
wow the physics engine sure has gone far! you've got it working in multi axis 3D space! Impressive!
I wanna say the words of admiration and encouragement but idk what to say exactly lol, but i promise, seeing creative people do creative stuff- like you- with so much dedication and hardwork, is an inspiration to the folks like me, so, thank you and i wish you good luck for whatever tasks you undertake in the future :3
"Sculpteur de Melon" sounds like a budget French plastic surgeon
gonkee pls make a nuclear bomb and share how you enriched the uranium-238 into uranium-235
Yes I agree, also please test the the warhead at these coordinates: 38.9N, 77.04W. I think that would be very funny.

@@anis6674 there's never a time to not party
That came out pretty decent considering!
I've been looking at lazy-susan bearings to make a very similar rig for photogrammetry - so I'm glad to see the approach worked for carving!
Ha, this is actually great stuff. I found your stuff while looking at music theory and it’s awesome that you also make micheal reeves type robot content too.
Yep, definitely need a carving bit.
Just found this RUclips Account today! Amazing content, really funny and nerdy at the same time. Love it, keep it up!
Ah yes, the 'I didn't know a drill bit, and a mill bit were different' video. Always love it when I see it. I too learned the hard way.
This man still doesn't know that he has invented a new kind of CNC machine.
wow mans out here solving the real world problems
Honestly, if this isn't how every one of my projects goes I don't know what is. Great work! Very funny and interesting.
It’s hard to be a nerd (respectfully) while also being funny. Well done!
Very enjoyable, loved the humor!
Painfully funny.
To actually carve a melon, might want to just build a bigger version of the Eggbot.
this was so entertaining, great job bro, I'll watch your videos for the next 69 years of my life
LOVE THIS!!!! Excited for the next video!!
These videos are sick! I was so surprised you didn’t have 3 mil subs at least.
So basically the pumpkin carving robot from stuff made here but watermelon instead
**please** use and endmill instead of a drill bit. Drill bits aren’t meant to cut on the side. Other than that find a better way to hold the melon down and you’re golden
Now that it is Halloween time, you should do this with a pumpkin.
good shit man your channel's gonna get pretty popular keep at it
I sense a missed Jack-o'-lantern carving opportunity
I think it might work better if you used a dremel or router to cut it. Also if it were to move slower with a higher bit speed and only make small cuts at a time with many passes moving deeper with each pass. And maybe tack the watermelon in place somehow.
I was basically going to say the same, but then thought he's probably very aware why it's failing so badly
Glad I found this channel
Gonkee, can I please have my rotor plates back? I've been forcing Ming to spin himself on people's tables for days, he's got vertigo now.
no, but you can try his patented water-melon carver! Yeah! You serve watermelons right?
And when we needed him the most, he came back
It's "sculpteur de pastèque 3000", unless you're carving actual melons and not watermelons
this is what you've been doing...
impressive!
"Is she leaves your for another, there's always her moth...."
I laughed when u said “I took a 270 degree servo motor from my friends RC car”
this was hilarious, you just got another sub! 😂
you know it's Pumpkin carving season right.
This video reminds me of a short, handsome, short phillipino (especially some of the lines)
If she leaves you for another, there's always her mother.
The first 30 seconds cured my depression
Coming from a CNC background, I gotta say this is is actually a great idea and a brilliant tech demonstration/working prototype.
You need a mill, not a drill and that 9000rpm motor should be faster
it runs on 24v
Actually this is a pretty solid concept, i think you did great for a first prototype. If the drill moved slower and at a higher RPM, i think the results might've been a bit better. Honestly I think it's impressive that you've made it that far with it at all.
Gonkee is like stuff made here, but better
One of your bigger adjustments should be to use an endmill rather than a drill bit; a drill bit isn't suited for linear cutting motion, only vertical
internet is great, I didn’t expect to see laoganma utilized in an engineering video
instead of a drill bit, use an endmill, it will cut laterally
I always ask me what to do else with this bearings on the table when i visit a chinese restaurant.
mannnnnnnnnn the cilly crisp marking killed me
That would have worked if you used an end mill rather than a drill bit.
Maybe by next Halloween V2 will be ready that also can handle pumpkins!?
this production value is way better than your first vid.
man 3 months working with melons must have been great
Not bad. Needed a fluted cnc tool vs your drill bit.
Cheap distance sensor so the actuator can be automated, maybe a clamp for the melon top and then just do lots of light passes and your there! Can't wait to see this in some gallery for kids to play with drawing random things
This makes me want to build my own and improve upon the concept
I'm subscribed just to see where this is going to end.
You need to firmly attach the watermelon to your carving robot. Otherwise it’ll mess up on the second pass
This was a hoot! Love your style. As some mentioned below (above?) a up cutting router bit will work MUCH better. Look for a Rotozip bit at your local big box hardware store. You are probably fine with the motor you already have. This thing has potential!
I regularly use a RotoZip tile cutting bit for foam cutting - they would probably also work good on melons and other produce.
You deliver excellent content to your audience. It's very interesting material. All of your effort put into creating this video is much appreciated. I'm truly grateful for your help!
This man is a stable genius
tryina get in on that micheal reeves video formula
The suggestion is to replace the drilling machine with an engraving machine or a laser for engraving. You are no longer a slave to the keyboard, you are now a slave to three individual keys.
200iq.... This is what my teachers called hubris.
woke up smoked weed, saw this, thought i smoked too much discovered im just seeing the genesis of genius
_"I believe it's called a knife"_
yo we need to see a 2.0 for halloween. Maybe with automated actuation of the drill? and maybe something more secure holding down the melon lmao. You should def try and perfect the drawing with a sharpie or pen. Keep at it man, love these videos!
Never seen this man until now, major Micheal Reeves vibes. Cool work! I like the background memes.
Lmao, love your sense of humour.
I think you made a new torture device
Using the chili oil to mark the feet positions was genius holy shit
Underrated channel
This is next level wow. Your journey was the art.
Is there a separate video where the coding is explained in more detail and the parts are listed? I would really like to build one for myself :D
You better post a video eating all the watermelon used in this video
i love this guy
I love how this channel is already shaping up to be the next Michael Reeves but with more sanity left. Maybe the sanity slowly drains over time.
Going to have to build something like this, specially for Halloween 🎃, carving them pumpkins. Imagine having many machines of these and people can order online to carve pumpkins.
Drill bits aren't designed to cut sideways. If you use an endmill, that thing would cut like butter :)
This looks like something tony stark would make if he had no money. Nice one!
Didn't someone make a similar machine that carves pumpkins?
Gonkee is underrated, like how doesnt he have more subs
This guy feels like if you combined StuffMadeHere and Michael Reeves
If I didn't have to work and just had my parents pay for an engineering school this is probably what I'll be doing..
You are frickin' hilarious!!
bro are you ok
cool robot tho
You sir are the next saw
Appreciate your creativity and skills.
Video quality is very good
Next idea,it can be used for amazon,to a 3D book shelf with precise location.....!??
Now I know how to do tattoos on heads or trepanation of skulls
Somebody's been binging Michael Reeves😂
"you know those spinny glass things on chinese tables in chinese restaurants?" It's called a _Lazy Suzan_ and even most American homes have them, lol.
That might be the best ending ever🤣🤣
Golden Phoenix Lotus Fortune Dragon made me laugh so hard
I sense michael reeves energy from this
I definitely feel the Michael Reeves inspiration here
