  • @goodolstick
    @goodolstick 2 года назад +210

    As always, spot on.
    The visuals are a big part of the deal. They are an artist collective that started Die Antwoord as a project and it hit correct and allowed them to achieve their artistic goals so it has become their expression.
    The first time I listened to 'Enter the Ninja' I hated it from the jump. Yo Landi's singing didn't connect with me either. But then he came in with "I'm a motherfuckin' Ninja" and I stopped the video and had to gather myself. Oh, they are self aware. got it. and then it was a ride.
    In this video the visuals are because they are working with a famous South African photographer who captured street level life for South Africans. Thats what Zef is, it is the common scumbag wealth culture that is an outgrowth of the racial and economic divide that was Apartheid and then post-Apartheid South Africa.
    As mentioned elsewhere fink is think because it is Afrikaans. As Die Antwoord is The Answer
    Dave Letterman had them on to perform this song. The visuals they presented for that performance and not the scumbag ones they present here, but they left Letterman basically speechless. He didn't have a contest to comment on them and it is Wonderfull.

    Hey bro, they were in a film called Chappie. It's a real good watch, you should review the film. It's really good. Love the reaction you give too these guys. Also if you want a good reaction check out the band slaughter to prevail.

    Its a love story... shes nuts, and found someone nuttyer then her... and they fell in love.. and made music and art together. for a short time. Best stuff to hit humanity in decades.

    Hahaha. I'm not going to read through all the comments till I see someone mentioned Afrikaans. And whatever else they are doing. I totally agree with you. It's art from the get go. I really love this era. I d your reactions,or I wouldn't keep watching the.

    Fatty Boom Boom is their trippiest video. It also takes a ton of shots at modern rap stars and they go especially hard on Lady Gaga. It’s a must watch.

    one of the small boys in the video, tokkie, recently came out with his experience with die antwoord and how they adopted him and raised him terribly :( it’s on youtube uploaded yesterday and i suggest giving it a watch. these are not good people even if they are visually and musically interesting.

    Definitely performance art. These are characters. Though some would say that they've allowed the characters to overtake their own personalities.

    She is speaking her native tongue sometimes in the song. It is one of the eleven official languages of South Africa and until 1990 one of three official languages of the country . A term sometimes used of people from South Africa and Namibia (who speak Afrikaans), more properly called "Afrikaans people" or Afrikaners.

    It's an English song, but they do use Afrikaans words and phrases to help with their flow and also fit with their theme, as a lot of what they say in Afrikaans is slang. Girl's name is Yolandi, the guy is Ninja (I believe), if you want to do a lyrical breakdown or are just curious as to what they are actually saying (I know it can be tough with their bilingual slang and accents for foreigners sometimes) I can provide translations
