Genius. I had the tail light problem first, so bad it killed the battery. Then the hesitation problem showed up and I really thought I was up the creek. That the problem could be the same thing, and fixed for *nothing*...? Holy cow my whole life just changed! Seriously man, you saved me a bucket 'o gold and a lot of heartache. I want to thank you very much for this.
Dude you are a life save i literally went to the back of my car after checking the pushing for the brake switch just like you did and it was on while sitting in park and I can see all the brake lights on. Thank you so much a three dollar fix I thought I was going to have to spend thousands.
Thank you so very much! This was the problem. I'm a girl and I always end up paying a fortune every single time my car breaks because these mechanics know I have no idea what is going on. I watched your video and did it myself!! Your truly a lifesaver
This video was a life saver. I started getting the hesitation a few weeks ago. Only in the last two days it got worse. I was thinking throttle position sensor which would be more expensive of course. So I called the dealer and they had the stopper in stock. It was $ .92 plus tax, so it was a total of $ .98. Not even a whole dollar. The hardest part was getting under the dash, but installation of the new one and a ten mile drive showed the problem was fixed. I love it when stuff works, especially cheap stuff!
Thank you so much!!! I was thinking I was having transmission issues due to the acceleration issues. I thought I was going to be in the hole thousands of dollars. You are a gentleman and a scholar!
2012 Hyundai sonata- My car had loss of power problems while driving and constant brake light activation to the point it drained my battery. I replaced the brake light switch, only to find out that my rubber brake light stop had a hole in it that the plunger was going right through. I haven’t had loss of power or brake light activation issues sense replacing. I used a circle piece you put on wooden furniture legs to protect the wood floors from scratching until the actual part comes in. It’s amazing that the brake light switch can cause all these problems, thanks for your help!
Now that’s what I call amazing. Exact same issue on my 2012 Sonata. Ordered the part and was back up and running in 2 days. Took less than 5 minutes to fix. Thanks again for posting this video!!
Thank you so much for posting this! My wife was so anxious, thinking it was a major and costly repair. Thanks to your video, I was able to order the stopper from Amazon and fixed her vehicle in minutes. I’m sure the dealership would have charged a lot of money for this simple fix.
Life saver!!! I thought my 2012 sonata was having 2 issues one with my car not accelerating and the other with my brake lights keep turning on! Nope! Cheap easy fix thanks to you!
Thank you so much for this video. This is exactly what was happening to our car. You just saved us 100's of dollars. We fixed it ourselves !!!! You are a life saver !!!
I appreciate your video so much! I just bought an 11 with the 2.0 turbo today .. I was afraid the turbo was bad but it was just this! You are awesome sir!
@markbrown4993 engine messed up a couple weeks later and hyundai replaced it for free under the national recall they have for rod bearing failure.. so now I got brand new engine
My car is doing this now; it completely died on me and now won’t start. A little bit of smoke came from underneath my hood. But it smelled of burnt plastic.
Just had the same problem it took me Litte while to figure it out but I wish I saw this before it would make my life a lot easier great info thanks this video will save lots of time and life awsome
Worked perfectly, didn’t even realize my brake lights were starting to stay on till saw it with my own eyes, but noticed the hesitation on acceleration, would just drop to like idle at full throttle no check engine lights… was that black plastic plug had worn a little hole allowing to switch to extend out, fixed it back to normal 5 mins flat, pack of them for 5 bucks… 😎👍🏻
Thank you! Just what I needed. The reason the brake light switch is wired into the PCM is as a safety for the throttle by wire, if the car see's both a brake signal and an acceleration demand it automatically defaults to cutting the throttle. This is after the whole Toyota gas pedal thing with cars running away.
Mine did exactly the same thing. I looked at the switch and saw that part was broken on mine. Cheapest I ever got off at a dealership. Like you said, around $3.00. I put it on in their parking lot and went on my way. I never had a car act that stupid before, but at least it was easy to find. My brake lights being on when my ignition was turned off gave mine away, too.
your a genius. that was impressive detective work. lol. I have an issue of soft brakes think my intensifier hose was broke off at valvoline when they tried to check my filter.
You are one smart cookie. Having some weird issues like this. Going to try the brake pedal trick see if it restores acceleration. My mechanic saying it's my PCM but this brake stopper is wired into the computer.
Problem I just had with 2012 Tucson. Made a short trip to toss the garbage, left the car running, backed up ok....then put in drive, car still idling, but zero acceleration, reverse yes, drive nothing. I then noticed check engine light on. I turned motor off, then it wouldn't start up. At a loss for words, I decided to disconnect the battery for a couple minutes, then it started up and everything worked again....wtf?😮
This litterally just saved me moneyyy I thought it was my brakes then I thought it was a clog so I bought cat cleaner the. I thought it was alternator. But it’s just the lil brake switch 😂😂😂
Interesting solution, I've never seen that. I guess the ABS and braking will act through the computer to affect the other side of the equation, throttle action. How are teenagers supposed to do brake stands?
Knock senser fault on my 2012 turbo. Hyundai replaced the motor for free because of a recall issue. Less then 6k on the new motor and it was stumbling. I was thinking the worst. found this video and sure as s**t little wadded up paper and tape and i'm all good till the new stoper shows up. Thank you.
Wow!!! My 12 is doing the exact same thing. Thinking I need to replace the accelerator pedal assembly or go through some electrical diag. Life Saver! If lift up on the brake pedal with your left foot, full power returns. No codes or check engine light or anything. It just falls completely on it's face while cruising. Thank you!!!
On my wife's 2015 Santa Fe, that bumper fell off, same problem. I'm sure it's tied into the computer as a safety measure. I remember hearing about some Toyota's that accelerated out of control, even when the brake was pushed. The link into the computer is probably an override to prevent that.
Same thing happened to my wife’s hyundai veracruz. Truck lost power on highway and esc light came on and stayed on as well as brake lights. Rubber pedal switch buffer was broken out. Figured it out in 5 minutes and $5 later
i had brake lights on for 3 nights and it would stop me when i went to leave a green light and had ABS on. couldnt replicate what it was doing at the shop. drove home with my headlights on and it happened. changed brake switch. still happening. i had a brake light that was about to go out causing all of my lights to be on constantly and then messing with my entire system itself
Hello I have a 2017 Hyundai Tucson 1.6 Turbo. I had a Turbo under boost code. Had the Turbo replaced and PCM Updated. Now no codes but the vehicle still Hesitates and won't accelerate without cutting out like it's running out of fuel. Both fuel pumps have been replaced and the fuel rail sensor has been replaced. New timing chain and CVVT gears. We did pull the upstream Oxygen Sensor out and started the car no change. And help would be greatly appreciated.
Wow. I wonder if it the same for my 22 santa fe hybrid. I was with uber with passengers on freeway. We rolled off to lot. They got other ride. Started car again and its working…. For now. Darn.
Thank you for this information, I have acceleration problem with my 2015 Hyundai sonata SE but my break light is working fine but it doesn’t rave or accelerate… Can this fix the acceleration problem ? Thank you
i have a 2009 Hyundai sonata and it makes a constant muffle noise around 1500 rpm 30-45 mph just hand transmission rebuilt and can't figure out what the issue is repair shop said everything looked good any idea's what the issue might be. they said exhaust and engine mounts are all good front tires tread is A little low new tires or rear.
You sit are my efing savior!! I swear to Jesus I was just about to tear this engine down and lo and behold that was the problem. I got this car for my mother and was thinking of a new turbo or new engine. Damn bro let me buy you dinner!
I don't blame hardworking folks who dare NOT touch any Kia or Hyundai vehicle. With the massive bill they shouldered from the engine failure/engine fire fiasco plus other major safety recalls, guess who will foot the bill eventually?
This is not the video I needed: My Hyundai(pronounced Yon-die), jerks and sputters when accelerating - once I get up to fourty MPH it runs smooth, unless you get going up hill, then it will jerk and almost come to a complete stop.
This was my issues. Cost me $3.00 to fix. Thank you! I feel like the dealership would have turned this into several hundred dollar problem, if not several thousand.
Genius. I had the tail light problem first, so bad it killed the battery. Then the hesitation problem showed up and I really thought I was up the creek. Thank you so much sir. My mechanic just repaired this exact thing happening on my 2012 Sonata because he watched this video I sent him. God bless you!
Thank you so very much! This was the problem. I'm a girl and I always end up paying a fortune every single time my car breaks because these mechanics know I have no idea what is going on. I watched your video and did it myself!! Your truly a lifesaver
So many thanks to you man. Relatives car had this, no diagnostic codes of course, and I was stumped. Your kindness is appreciated.

Same
Now that’s what I call amazing. Exact same issue on my 2012 Sonata. Ordered the part and was back up and running in 2 days. Took less than 5 minutes to fix. Thanks again for posting this video!!
Where I can get the part

Hello there am facing the same problem. Can you tell me the name of the rubber so i can buy it from amazon please
I have a sonata 2012 too
Thank you so much!! You don’t know how much of a blessing this was for my family. Same issues fixed with this solution. Costed about 5$
Life saver!!!
You’re a life saver! My 2012 Hyundai sonata has exactly the same issue. Thank you for saving us from paying more with the mechanic.
I appreciate your video so much! I just bought an 11 with the 2.0 turbo today .. I was afraid the turbo was bad but it was just this! You are awesome sir!
They probably sold it to you thinking it had a major issue 😂
@markbrown4993 engine messed up a couple weeks later and hyundai replaced it for free under the national recall they have for rod bearing failure.. so now I got brand new engine
This is exactly what the problem was. Thanks so much for your help
Amazing!!! Exactly what happened with my 2012 hyundai sonata!!! Epic find and true life saver!! Thanks for posting!!

Thank you! I glued a plastic disc onto the face of the stopper until the new part comes in. The car drives perfect now. Thanks for a great video.
Omg thank you so much! I'm 2 days in and you saved me so much time and money!! 🎉 Your very much appreciated
I just super-glued a penny to the rubber bumper stop. Works great!
I did the same. LOL !!!
Saved $2.99. Thank you 😂😂
Is there a video that shows me how to fix it? Or what i need to do?
The same thing happened to my car could somebody tell me what I need to do
@@jachanminadoes it still work and was that the problem?? I’m seeing that the problem could be the transmission which is not good!
Thanks!
Exact symptoms! Saved me a ton!
Thank you very much
Thanks for this video. My car was doing the exact same thing.. Break light and everything.. I switch out the "break pedal stopper". Fixed the issue.
Same thing is happening to my car now great video
Eczactlt what my sonata was doing, i used super glue amd 3 pennies to fix! Thanks you sir!!
Thank you, thank you, thank you - I’ve been chasing this for a year.

You are one smart cookie. Having some weird issues like this. Going to try the brake pedal trick see if it restores acceleration. My mechanic saying it's my PCM but this brake stopper is wired into the computer.
How did it go? I heard it could be something with the transmission!?
Appreciate it my son's 2013 Kia Optima was having same issue....Hopefully this is the fix....waiting on part to come in.
Thank you. My Sonata is doing the exact same thing. I gave you a like and subscribed to your channel.

That was a first for me , The computer did not like seeing something .
I had to look up what brake stands was , I have never heard that before , always called them burnouts . Lol
Why is that three dollar piece affect the acceleration?
Knock senser fault on my 2012 turbo. Hyundai replaced the motor for free because of a recall issue. Less then 6k on the new motor and it was stumbling. I was thinking the worst. found this video and sure as s**t little wadded up paper and tape and i'm all good till the new stoper shows up. Thank you.
I had to same problem right after I got a new engine! I’m really thinking about trading my sonata in.
Should I do it?
Excellent video
New timing chain and CVVT gears. We did pull the upstream Oxygen Sensor out and started the car no change. And help would be greatly appreciated.

Could you explain to me what I need to do mines is doing the same thing
Wow! Thank you
Not sure how to put a new one in but I think I can figure it out
Was there a part number or name because I need this asap
Gracias
hello... what if im having this issue but the break light isnt staying on?
On my wife's 2015 Santa Fe, that bumper fell off, same problem. I'm sure it's tied into the computer as a safety measure. I remember hearing about some Toyota's that accelerated out of control, even when the brake was pushed. The link into the computer is probably an override to prevent that.

Hello I have a 2017 Hyundai Tucson 1.6 Turbo. I had a Turbo under boost code. Had the Turbo replaced and PCM Updated. New timing chain and CVVT gears. We did pull the upstream Oxygen Sensor out and started the car no change. And help would be greatly appreciated.
I’m having I think the same issue on my 2017 1.6T Tucson. Can’t pass trucks on the highway - it just doesn’t accelerate.
What is the name of the part?
Thank you
how about my 2011 sonata it cant go up 60kph up. it is maf or map sensor? or turbo booster?
Did any of you get smoke from the exhaust if tried accelerating too much to gain speed?
i have a 2009 Hyundai sonata and it makes a constant muffle noise around 1500 rpm 30-45 mph just hand transmission rebuilt and can't figure out what the issue is repair shop said everything looked good any idea's what the issue might be. they said exhaust and engine mounts are all good front tires tread is A little low new tires or rear.
What is the part number?
Was the check engine blinking when it was decelerating ????
no light on , no blinking , no engine codes .
That's a misfire
Where did you order this part from!
Did u bought it, if so? Where ?
Wow ! Thank you !!!!
dude im over here thinking its the trans solenoid the fuel pump, seeing you drive it that is exactly what it is!
Exactly what my hyundai is doing, when I stop then try to accelerate it will not take off,the ill wait a few depress the gas again then it takes off
Genius
You sit are my efing savior!! I swear to Jesus I was just about to tear this engine down and lo and behold that was the problem. I got this car for my mother and was thinking of a new turbo or new engine. Damn bro let me buy you dinner!
What’s the part called
“Brake light switch” and the rubber stopping piece is a “brake light stopper”
I don't blame hardworking folks who dare NOT touch any Kia or Hyundai vehicle. With the massive bill they shouldered from the engine failure/engine fire fiasco plus other major safety recalls, guess who will foot the bill eventually?
Actuator is prob about to go if your hyundai 11-14 turbo 2.0t enters limbo mode, and turning car on and off again temp fixes it. yw.
it cost me $200, and didn't fix it. I found this video and fix it for 3.5$ for a new switch.
same issue , i 3d printed the part :P
Hyundai TSB 18-BE-010
This is not the video I needed: My Hyundai(pronounced Yon-die), jerks and sputters when accelerating - once I get up to fourty MPH it runs smooth, unless you get going up hill, then it will jerk and almost come to a complete stop.
My car started doing that after an oil from Walmart
Brake pedal stopper
Oh men aim here by the same trouble
Oh wow so that holes not supposed to be there? I can't believe how lucky I am to stumble across this video wow..
Thanks!
This was my issues. Cost me $3.00 to fix. Thank you! I feel like the dealership would have turned this into several hundred dollar problem, if not several thousand.
@@allengambrell6879 Thank you so much .
@heartlandmechanic where did you get the part? I assume the brake stopper fixed the problem but you didn't show fixing it.
