    4-30-23 This video was great! I wish i could save this video as A dvd to the owners manual in my garage file cabinet. I have the same mower, its old and beat up bad. Previous owner neglected it really bad.I don't think he ever changed fluids or filters. We had it running. One blad literally fell off, destroyed entire unit. I need to buy a new everything to replace blade. Your video was so good. I had my 11 year old son warch it. He took the entire deck off with me guiding him based on your video. Took us maybe 20-30 minutes if that. I took over a hour trying to get these blades off that seem to be rusted on bad. I used heat, WD, PB, pry bar, etc. Still can't get the bolts to come loose. I might have to take the deck in for help or buy a new deck. Any videos on blade removal when bolt won't come off? My 11 year old can do it, a single mom can do it, anyone can! Thanks to your video. Definitely in my save list and subscription

      They are tanks. Keep up the preventative maintenance and it should keep on going! The only downfall is that the hoods usually are broken by this time in their life. But hoods don’t make the tractor run!! Or cut grass:)

    Thanks a bunch! My mower deck belt popped off, for no apparent reason, and I was looking for some guidance on how to remove the deck to get the belt back on.
    Or more importantly, how to get that tension spring back on but I needed to remove the mower deck first.

      the lx280 has a pedel instead of a stick for raising and lowering the deck. you have to pull up on the pedal with your hand all the way then you can lock it back. this removes tension on the jbolts.

      @@JohnsonsSmallEngines I really didn’t expect for you to have the answer, without seeing it. I actually figured it out and fixed it. 😁 I saw in one of the videos that if you lift up on the drive (forward) petal, it’ll go in reverse. That’s when I realized that it was a “rocker” style of control. The reverse petal had a silver bar hanging down and I discovered that it slipped off of a post. Easy fix. Still, seeing how the cutter base came off helped a lot. Thank you again!

    I just had to have my transmission drive belt replaced... first time it was needed since I bought it new in 2000 !
    I had JD service dealer in town do it, because it was making a screeching sound that I thought might have been a bearing on the power drive pulley that is attached to the engine underneath... but all was needed was a new belt (M154958) for the LX277 AWS.
    The guy that serviced it mentioned that he greased the pulley, but I cannot find any grease fitting... the actual owner's manual says nothing about it.
    Are you aware of any such grease fitting and where it is located ?

    • @JohnsonsSmallEngines
      @JohnsonsSmallEngines  Год назад +1

      I have never heard someone say “greased the pulley” in my opinion, you cannot grease pulleys. if he meant bearing? There are no greaseable bearings on the drive train. I have heard of people putting oil into a bearings on a pulley to quite it down but that will come back to haunt you when the bearing dries out. If they only replaced the belt and it was a bad squeaking noise. I would expect there would be a bad idler pulley but without hearing the squeak it is just a guess.

    • @airmojo
      @airmojo Год назад

      @@JohnsonsSmallEngines I would assume the grease fitting would be for the bearing... but I couldn't find anything while I had the mower deck off... I've owned the LX277 AWS since 2000, and the transmission drive belt was original when the squealing started... it would squeal when I lowered the mower deck, but not in the raised position.

    • @JohnsonsSmallEngines
      @JohnsonsSmallEngines  Год назад

      Very strange as the mower deck moving up and down should not have anything to do with the transmission drive system. I will assume all is ok now after the repair was made?

Always a hassle they just don’t want to loop around so I can lock them in . Eventually after moving the snow thrower up and down or sideways does help but a pain ….
