Very good camera work shows the attaching points relevant to mount & dismounting the mower deck Good refresher course - i'm mounting mine now just got the snowblower off
Thank you very much. I have pulled the deck off on my old LX188 several ties and it was always a severe pain in the arse. Your video did a great job of showing how simple it really is. Two thumbs up!
Thank you so so so much! I just bought a house in Western NY as well as the 20-year-old John Deere / snowthrower from the previous owner. Looking out of the window, you could tell this is wayyy too late for putting the gardening stuff away... but being female, single, non American, never had a house nor a yard, lived in TX for 12 years, just moved here not knowing anyone well... I have been procastinating because the job looks intimidating and I have not been able to find good video tutorials, my only go-to. Needless to say I used the lawn mover to run over and cut some wild plants so things are starting to fall apart. Anyway, I was able to take the mower off. Super easy, actually. Mine is LX178 and the belt part works slightly different for me; amazing instructions!!! Now I can even understand what and why things fell apart before. And it is good to be able to clean the deck and blades. Next summer, I will need your tutorial how to put the mower back on because I think it is not exactly just the reverse. Mission part 1 is done. Now part 2, how to attach a snowthrower. I have found the basics but like videos that address cautious attentions (tips and tricks).
I’m glad this video helped you! I’m in Central NY myself. Don’t forget to subscribe for more content you might be able to use! If you have any questions about NY or snow or anything dont hesitate to ask! Stay safe in this storm!
I do my LX277 the same as you did in your excellent video. I also paint the bottom of the deck with old motor oil twice yearly after cleaning to prevent rust and help keep grass from sticking. Its also a good time to service the deck blades, pulleys, and spindles.
Just inherited one of these but it's too wide for my utility trailer with the deck on. Thanks to your video I know now that it comes off very easily so I can transport it myself after all.
Thank you for posting this video. I'm a senior citizen who was doubting that I could do this. I know I can do it now .
You’re very welcome, that’s what I’m here for!
Thanks for watching

Great Video. Follwed your lead and was easily able to remove, work on then replace mower deck. Thanks.
Happy to help! Thanks for the feedback.
Actually using this video as a refresher myself today as I put it away for the winter
THANK YOU! Worked for LX188 too!
THANK YOU!
Thank you so much!.... a lot of help god bless you my friend
Excellent job!
At 2:20, how did you get the mower to stay upside down? I'm having trouble with this.
Not exactly sure what you mean by this, but I do have the camera upside unfortunately for this shot
Great video! Is the belt supposed to go back on? Tractor is making a strange sound now that the deck is removed.
The drive belt for the mower? If the deck isn’t on the belt doesn’t have anything to go on to
DIY Amateur Hour figured, just don’t know what is making this noise now when I shit the tractor off. Didn’t do it before I removed the deck.
Same 0n a lx176
I jave a john deer l a 105
Thanks a lot man you saved me a lot of time 🫡👍🏼👍🏼
