I worked in Palo Alto for 3 years and while I love downtown PA very much, I would choose San Francisco over and over again for the incredible food scene.

I really love neighborhoods in the city like Noe Valley that do still give you that suburban neighborhood feel, but still within the city

I feel like the Southern part of city is perfect for people who need to commute to Silicon Valley but still want to live in the city, like Noe and Glen Park. If that's too far, Burlingame would be another excellent option. I've lived in both and loveeee both areas.

The really expensive parts of town (SF) have some great highly ranked schools.

The main access road to Tahoe is I80 which EVERYONE from the Bay Area uses, not just San Francisco. Don't believe her when she says that SF has easier access. SF traffic meets with East and South Bay traffic in Fairfield. Nobody moves during certain commute times.

Humm-.......a quick look at a map will show SF is closer to Tahoe in proximity than the South Bay, which is what I was referring to.

I have lived in MV and so has my partner who works down there, he still chooses to live in SF time and time again, his entire career will likely be down in the valley but to him, the commute is worth it. He has been so much happier since moving to the city!

The valley of Silicon Or Semiconductor factories. Fact is except for Audodesk, there were no tech companies in San Francisco in the 70s or 80s. Only did in late 90s with some media companies. Also SV is a completely different culture. Nothing like the young 20 year old who do restaurant, wine drinking, clubbing in SF. These were workaholics of the 80s and 90s who were mature family folks.

@kmoov90 Nvidia, Intel, AMD and many more chip companies and the ecosystem are thriving in the Silicon Valley. If you can't find a tech job here, you can't find it elsewhere. Only lower level jobs and manufacturing have been outsourced out of silicon valley.
