Since onions have been going bad quickly, now I just buy individual onions, so I I don't waste my money 💰.
I cut mine up and freeze them cause they do spoil pretty quickly.

I just planted 80 candy onions. They are pretreats to grow I also have walking onions. They come back every year they are like a green onion. Otherwise, I would buy 1-2 at a time

Crazy prices now and in the future for sure. I've been prepping my garden beds and praying for a bountiful harvest amist the locust invasion. Ugh
One thing I've noticed lately in grocery stores is the lack of shoppers and full carts. I see a lot more folks using calculators.
You're right...no full carts and sticking to the NEED list instead of the WANT list.
Those insects fixin to explode out of the ground are CICADAS not locusts. Cicada's are around long enough to pop out of the ground, "do their thing" and then they die. Only "damage" done is when they "V" a twig of a tree, berry bushes included, is when they lay their eggs. I call them "tree huggers" because that is what their legs are designed for. Clinging to tree bark.
If you get a deal on potatoes, clean, cut them up, dont have to peal them, par boil a few mins and drain, cool, place on a flat sheet that will fit in your freezer, freeze 1 hr and bag them up....great fpr quick roasted potatoes or in stews, dtirfries and soups.
I have never been in a Meijer. We just don’t see them much in the south.
I did hear a lady say she paid $2.50 recently for one red bell pepper in a different grocery store😮
Which has prompted me to grow my own peppers.
I grow the Carolina Reaper pepper too…lol… it’s extremely hot. But super easy to grow even on a patio.
I grew ghost peppers last year. Did pretty good.
Lately when I go to Meijer's, their weekly "sale" flyer is only one sheet of paper (both sides). Hardly a reason for me to drive there anymore. And because I hate that you usually have to buy two of an item in order to get the sale price, or this second one at some percentage off, I don't go there as often anymore.
Same. Used to be a great store. Now, not so much.

Buy one 5lb bag of russet potatoes get one free OR buy one 3lb bag of apples get one bag apples free. Just did the deal 3 hrs ago. Came home with 2 of each. I like your stores price for a doz.eggs! Eggs here on west side of Indy. a dozen eggs were $2.79(Meijer) if memory serves me right.
Danno, the winter of 1980-81 was really bad financially for my family. My mom fed us beans, eggs, and whole milk. When she bought bread, it was hearty. We stayed warm using a newspaper log roller that made logs to burn. We didn't have much, but mom taught me to survive. I have at least 50# of beans stored away. It may not be everything, but I never complained.
I remember when we could only get gas on odd or even days.Wait wasn't that in the 70s?

YOu mentioned looking at Hispanic stores for RICRE; ASIAN stores also have lots of rice.
I 100% agree. Also, another good source to buy rice is Cash and Carry stores as U.S. Foodservice Chefstore. There are some deals there. Finally, there are basically no deals at the Hispanic/Latino grocery stores where I live.
I have gone to the Asian stores around here and they are awful. Dirty, crowded, and expensive. Ugh
I miss Amy's meals but cannot afford them any longer. Sweet Earth are good for the most part. I will remember to check my stores. Thank you so much for covering the prices :)
I know, Amy’s meals are the only frozen meal I notice hasn’t lowered their quality since 2020. But because of that they have gone up twice as expensive as before. Most people I know liked those meals, whether they were vegetarian or not. The cheese enchiladas especially.
Gas at Sam's Club is going up $0.25 a week. $4.75 a gallon today!

Meijer in NW OHIO buys ally of local produce form farmers. Michigan, Ohio, Indiana. It’s so fresh compared to Kroger and Aldi
I noticed that they often have onions from Michigan at their store in NE OH. I look for local.
I had to laugh about the pizza and Nesquik!

Sunday, when I went into my local Lidl there was very little fresh chicken, like almost empty when, I went in today they had some a bit more in but still low, that was St Neots England UK

I know a couple of friends who have water distillers and distill their own water. Just FYI.
I found out if you freeze an acocado, thaw it in microwave for minute, let it cool down, you can cut an opening on the end and squeeze it out like toothpaste! Easier to get it out of the shell. You're welcome!😊 Probably would work the same for an unfrozen one.
Happy morn to ya Danno. Wanted mention Meijer has the Fiji Water 16.9 oz six pack on sale for $5.99 down from $8.29! Also, those PF Chang egg rolls are awful... BUT - I found really great egg rolls at Aldi last month in the produce section that were awesome! (sorry I forgot the brand name but they were delicious and 3 x the size of the tiny tasteless ones in the PF Chang box.)
Love Fiji water. The Aldi refrigerated egg rolls are really good. I usually get the pork. There is also chicken. They cook up great in the air fryer. 400 degrees and about 9 minutes. The brand is Park Street Deli.
Fiji water went down at Walmart also.

just came back from meijer (4-16-2024) peppers were super huge!! sargento cheese was a great price.
Consider the fact they were sprayed with chemicals during the growing process
I got a Cesar salad kit on markdown last week. It only came with croutons and dressing. I'm glad it was reduced price.
I went to WD today to stock up on canned goods and when I seen that the store brand veggies are now $1.79 I'm going to go to Sam's o get some. God bless. 👍😀❤️🙏

I love peppers .I have loads I dehydrated
But mine are grown by an organic farmer. Anything else and you run into the probability they've been chemically grown to kill insects
I buy Meijer brand cheese, but like sargento so much more.

Wise to freeze peppers and onions when the sales are happening.
I bought a Brita water bottle with a snap lid also 10 filters. I'm so tired of buying water and lugging it from the vehicle up steps or down steps. Over it! I know my tap water is still not "up to all the standards" but I can't go on paying $2.50 a 24 pack (on sale) and think it's like the normal thing to do anymore.

I really don’t understand why there is still a problem with different items not being available in one store but being available in another store? After 2019 this should not still be a problem in 2024 , I personally think it’s just a way for companies to make extra profit and not anything to do with shortages
along with the government.
Chex cereal has an interesting history in the last 3 weeks at our Meijer. The cereal was on sale for $2.99 a box, a great offer. One week later the price was jacked up
to $4.99 for the same size. This week it's 2 for $3. What's next? I can only imagine.
That's funny cube steak is on one of my grocery list that's a craving for me right now .Wish we had a Maijer. We also bought a filtered water jug called Pur 30 cup water filter dispenser, it's in our fridge so no more buying water bottles that saves 7 bucks a month . Danno next time your at Walmart can you tell me what kind of Great value cheese is really good to eat by itself like on a Ritz?
