Dear John, I just wanted to say this last 13 months has been hard since losing my husband unexpectedly. He and I used to listen to you together. The 5 days he was in the hospital he listened to your videos to help him through the pain he was in. He was a Navy vet and admired you. Now I listen to every video and now podcast. I look forward to your videos. Having something to look forward to is very important to me. You help put a smile on my face. I need that. We were married 28 years and together 31 and 5 kids. So I guess what I am saying is thank you. You have made some good moments for me during a time when there are not a lot of good moments right now. Thank you and God bless you 😊
I know there isn’t really anything anyone can say, but I’m so sorry for the pain you must be feeling, and I sincerely hope you are able to find peace, even if it’s just a tiny moment.
Susan - I am so touched that you would share this. And incredibly honored that these videos had such a nice impact on you and your husband. Today I’ll be thinking about what you wrote, and keeping you and your family in my thoughts. Take care and thank you so much for listening!! - John
For everyone wondering why they sent a worker over to john’s place, a few days earlier had had literally joked with one of his work friends that if he didn’t show up, it was because Katherine had murdered him.
He didn't joke. She had stolen a medkit from his work and made it look like he stole it to get him in trouble and after she tried to stab him many times and slept with knives hanging above their bed (she was sexually fascinated with knives from being a butcher) he went to his work and told them straight up that if he doesnt turn up hes been murdered. There was no joke in it- He knew what was coming. She had also stabbed her ex who had warned him about her
Additional creepy facts. She called being a butcher her “dream job” and kept her set of butchers knives above the marital bed “just in case” He also had a habit of telling his coworkers that if they didn’t see him tomorrow she’d killed him as a joke. In short she had more red flags on her than a Norwegian embassy.
You're right! I thought I'd heard of this story on another yt channel a while back and remembered those same details. It all sounded really familiar in this one and I wondered if they were in fact the same story
Couple of important details that weren't addressed about Katherine: Katherine was raised in a household where she witnessed/experienced physical/sexual violence on a daily basis, her mother expressed that men weren't to be trusted. Katherine was the aggressor in the physical abuse with ALL of her partners and I've never heard of instances where her partners were abusive, her mother even went so far as to say to her boyfriend "don't mess with her, she will kill you." Katherine is a product of a terrible childhood environment BUT she also has like 6 siblings and none of them skinned a man or fractured another's with a frying pan. Edit/Corrections: -It was John's head that she fractured with a frying pan on a previous occasion. -Katherine also tried to kill her baby by shaking the stroller violently and then leaving it on the train track, she was committed in an institution for a couple of days due to the event. - Katherine also pulled a knife to her husband's throat on the wedding night because he didn't want to have sex for the 4th time. - Katherine kept her butcher's knives OVER HER BED so it was right there when she needed one to kill John. She also frequently mentioned that she enjoyed killing the animals and watching their blood run. She was sexually aroused by the sight of blood. - John also said to his neighbor's the night before he was murdered "If I haven't left for work tomorrow morning, she's killed me." I only mention this because the way this narrative is told makes it seem as though Katherine Knight was a normal woman who snapped. Katherine is a SEVERELY mentally ill person who has very dangerous fetishizations of sexual violence. Her status of never being released is necessary as Katherine is too far gone to be rehabilitated, she will always be a danger to society if she is free. (these are the opinions of 4 separate clinical psychologists who evaluated Katherine) Edit #2: I can't believe I have to make this but people keep @ing me acting like I'm some apologist for Katherine Knight. I'm NOT excusing her actions, I'm offering insight into how someone can become a monster such as Katherine. I even took to note that she had many siblings who experienced a similar childhood and none of them became violent criminals. Please take the time to fully comprehend what I am saying before you start making assumptions about me or my ideals.
Her case should be taught in police academy, medical and nursing schools, teaching and social classes because she was the product of serious childhood abuse. Early intervention might have saved the people around her from violence, and early treatment might have kept her mental illness at a manageable level.
Yeah. It's very important to note that many people suffer abuse. Only some choose to take it out on everyone else. She's a product of her own decisions
@@jturtle5318 - my daughter has a degree in Psychology and English, and just finished her Master’s in English to be a Professor. In her Psych. Classes, she took both paths for criminal psychology and children’s psychology, they would often have guest lecturers. These Psychologists would discuss such infamous cases, some with crime scene photos. Then there is, of course, reading assignments on books and articles to whatever the Prof. wants to discuss in depth or just get you to have a grasp of. So the specific cases taught depend on the Prof. and lecturers, but the content and the severity are still aimed towards exposing students to the content they might have to deal with day to day moving forward depending on their focus in Psychology. Also, how to deal with those situations, not only for the victims and perpetrators, but for yourself to keep from being that trauma into your own life. *she was originally just a Psych major until the English Department begged her to switch or do a Double Major, which she did - in the top 4 people of the university - in just 4 years!
To add to this story; Katherine was INCREDIBLY abusive towards John. She beat him regularly and the whole town knew that one day she would kill him. John was terrified by her and she took advantage of him, not the other way around. P.S thanks for the video!
I asked my wife the other day "were you worried when I met you that I could be someone dangerous?"what if was a serial killer? She quite correctly said the chance of both of us being serial killers is pretty small..
The moment you said "Australia" I knew immediately who you were talking about. I can't imagine the trauma the police had to over come after walking through that house.
She did NOT deserve to be living on the backs of hard working Australians in prison. This is one of those times that you wished the judge would have made an exception, and demanded death. Those children having to grow up without a father and then realize that their father's killer is still alive? I'm sorry but that is too much!!! Call me a monster if you want, but that woman doesn't deserve another CC of oxygen. Give the children and family the peace to know their father's killer met a swift and decisive end. Instead of wasting thousands of AUD a year to keep IT alive.
@@deathstrike death penalty is too good for her. They should just keep her in a little room, never allowed out, never allowed to talk to anyone or go outside, just in one little room for the rest of her life.
@@HelpMyCatHasNoHair The truth is... She didn't do this to herself... Her own family & the smartarses in her local community destroyed her mind. If no one ever stops arseholes from attacking defenseless innocent people, you can expect these types of crimes to keep on being committed forever. This is s typical case of the real arseholes who drove this woman insane, getting away with years of destructive brutal crimes. Everyone has a mental breaking point... This woman was broken & injured & had suffered all her life. She was largely a product of a cruel & vicious environment. She should not be killed. She should be CONSULTED! My Dad was actually one of the forensic officers on scene at the house, (he watched this video as well actually). He said this was all accurate apart from the fact that the 'curtain' when found was actually hanging between the kitchen and lounge room from a hook so as you entered the house from the backyard it was the first thing you were confronted with, and you actually had to push past it to enter the rest of the house. My dad was actually left alone in the house for a bit to finger print the scene. Him being alone with the 'curtain' for that time actually ended up being one of the reasons for his eventual retirement. He hasn't been to Aberdeen for years but reckons he still remembers the way to get to that house to this day.
Truly a very sick woman. The fact she murdered him was bad enough. Yet to do what she did with his body afterwards. That is truly a diabolical thing to do. Especially as she had prepared individual food plates for his children. I'm glad she will never get released from prison. I hope and pray his children have the proper care and therapy to get over the loss of their Father. 💪🏻🙏🏻✨
I've heard so many times how being a reliable employee has been the reason people get saved or at least discovered. My teacher in 8th grade was saved cause of it. He hadn't missed a day in like 10 years or something crazy line that, so when he didn't show up one day without calling or anything they immediately sent police to his house. Turns out he had a carbon monoxide leak and him and his wife would have died if the police hadn't gotten there within an hour or 2. When they showed up they knew something was wrong cause the alarms were going off but their cars were there and the doors were locked. So they kicked down the door and found them sleeping in their bed. Apparently 1 takes sleeping pills and the other needs a hearing aid so neither heard the alarm. But his being a reliable employee saved him. It was also a fairly small town so everyone knew everyone, so that might have helped to. He was a pretty cool teacher and actually lived up the road from my parents house where I grew up.
One of my "reliable employee" coworkers was discovered murdered after another coworker (who was friends with the victim) did a wellness check on him. His murderer was caught a couple of days later. As you can imagine, we were all shocked and devastated by what happened.
Honestly it’s true. We own a small business, my family and I. Our employees are amazing and ALWAYS at work when they are scheduled and always on time so if they just didn’t show and hadn’t called or texted, we would be concerned immediately. Obviously they run late sometimes or something happens but 99.9 percent of the time they are there a few minutes early and reliable. One girl last year was not there and hadn’t called so we got a hold of someone that knew her and she had just been in a minor accident and was fine just late and hadn’t had time to call. But regardless we immediately knew something was off.
People have been telling stories as long as humanity has existed. Thank you for continuing the tradition with your fantastic storytelling. Your channel is proof that it truly is an art form!
One of the most disturbing murders ever. It's interesting hearing about Katherine Knights history and previous relationships. She was violent way before this but her previous partners all survived. John Knight was actually scared of her, such a shame he couldn't keep her out of his life
Yes.. she was incredibly violent and had homicidal tendencies many years before she married John. I was shocked that he portrayed her as a normal, sweet woman who just wanted a family, who just pretty much snapped, when it was anything but that. This is very horrific case to be sure.. and yes, John was scared of her. She was very abusive towards him, and even though he kicked her out of the house, he still didn’t completely break it off with her. It’s a very sad story. She’s a vile, evil woman.
A friend of mine was sent to a Sydney western suburbs jail for women (minor offence), and would visit her from time to time. On one occassion whilst visiting her, she pointed out that the elderly lady at the table next to us was Catherine Knight. She just looked like any elderly grandmother. Truly hard to fathom the crime that she had committed.
My mum went to jail here in Australia when I was 11, she was in the same pod (or cell block) as Katherine, she's not allowed a cell mate because she stabbed her last one with knitting needles, mum said she was creepy, very violent and stuck to herself.
OMG, Another user in the comment said they were in the same prison too and met this woman, they said this woman was with a partner, I guess she stabbed that partner Your mum talked about, Dude. This is so Eerie.

The history of domestic violence between Catherine and John is a lot deeper than what was disclosed. John Price filed for a restraining order after the first physical fight, and John told his colleagues that if he went missing it was certain that Catherine had done something to him.
I’m noticing this comes up repeatedly with female domestic violence killers - the male partner says ‘if something happens to me, it was her’ a fear of being hurt so bad they won’t make it out. This needs to be taken seriously when they voice it - I think it would take a lot for a man to say this out loud to people.

I met Katherine Knight when I was working as a correctional officer at Silverwater prison, the most scary aspect of Katherine is just how normal she comes across in civil conversation.
@@diegoavila4379 She was the first inmate I ever spoke to, I was a brand new recruit and our job was to basically get the inmates to empty their pockets, because I'm a male I obviously didn't engage in the frisk searches but rather I was told to stand there and observe it being done, she started asking me how my day was going, commented on my tattoo which she said she thought was nice (it's a tattoo of a wolf on a mountain) and then she went on with her day. I wasn't told until after she left for work duties that she was infact Katherine Knight, apparently she was on pretty heavy medication since being incarcerated so she seemed very normal and polite.
I guess the same can be said about many criminals of that caliber, especially serial killers. But yeah, that is the worst and creepiest aspect of them.
Stories like this make me feel bad for the cops who have to walk into messed up crime scenes like this. I can't imagine being a homicide detective. I enjoy these stories but living it on a regular basis is something else.

So, let me get this straight, during all the time it took for her to physically prepare for this horrendous crime (AFTER sleeping in his arms), such as driving across town, getting her tools together, carrying out this atrocity, and making a feast with placards along with side dishes and tasting it, she never stopped for one second and just thought "maybe what I am doing is a little much?" @Michael Clark I agree with you. I haven't even been to war, and I have seen something much worse. It doesn't take anything away from what the man suffered or what his children continue to suffer, but it was over pretty easily for him. He likely didn't even feel or think much before it happened, just blindly panicking, before hemorrhagic shock put him into unconsciousness. I'm happy you mentioned this. Kath Knight was abusive to all her partners and John was a victim of domestic violence. I hate it when people blame John for her actions. It's hearing about stories like this, that makes me have trust issues, it's really disturbing how she skinned him like that out of pure hatred and stabbed them 36 times? Then decided to make a feast out of his body... Sounds like it came straight out of a slasher film. So glad they got arrested and is never to be released. They almost got away with it too...
The way she killed him makes me wonder if she was born already kind of not right in the head, and then it was worsened by her growing up in an extremely dysfunctional family. I've heard of abuse victims repeating the cycle or killing someone at worst, not skinning them and cooking them in different meals.
What made it easier for her to do this, was the fact she was already killing and slaughtering animals. And of course she needed to do away with the body.
My father knew John and Katherine and worked with her at the butchers and he said there was something wrong with her and he knew John was a very nice guy
It's actually crazy how "rich" her criminal and psychiatric history was leading up to this. The stuff that happened in mid 70's is also a doozy and it's really sad that it took Price losing his life for them to properly diagnose and detain her. @Ivar I somewhat agree but I think you're projecting a little when it comes to Kathrine. No one forced her to do anything. They could have triggered her into feeling she had to get back at him but she could've just slashed his tires or written him a strongly worded letter at the very least. Not commit murder or turned him into a feast. We're all accountable for our actions. Just as he was with his when it came to playing around with her feelings and not taking the steps needed to keep her out of his and his kids lives. She is the one who chose to end him in this way. No one told her to. At that point there is no reason to feel any sympathy. Especially considering the fact this action of hers likely hurt his kids a lot. Broken people can cause just as much hurt to others as someone who has never experienced living in a dysfunctional family. Having a shit background doesn't take anything away from what some of these people have done to hurt others. It just perpetuates the cycle of abuse. Many survive through some really traumatic childhoods and never hurt soul. Though I don't feel for John, I don't feel for Katherine either since what he did to her wasn't nearly as bad as what she did to him. Did people around her fail her? Yes. But regardless of what he did to her on an emotional level, what did his daughters do to deserve losing their father? It's hard to sympathize when she didn't even take them into consideration. This is a man whose daughters she adored and planned to care for prior to any of this mess and she turned around and hurt them. Also we're only getting Kathrine's side here. You should take into consideration that we know little of John's story based on this video. "She wasn't in the best state of mind." Doesn't fly when she had plenty of time to prepare, think it over, and choose not to so it. If it was sudden, yes, I'd sympathize a little but this was planned. Edit: That said, I am also from a troubled/abusive past. I don't think your intention was to excuse her actions but I get kinda relating to it. Just find it weird to sympathize with someone who didn't think of the innocents involved. They had to go through their parents divorce and then they had to accept the lady who cared for them murdered their father. It's a bit fucked up. Edit #2: Read more up on Kathrine. She had a history of being violent with her partners. He shouldn't have stuck his dick in crazy but she was not at all innocent in this. It's a good reminder that you are not responsible for fixing broken people. Sometimes people are irreparably broken and should be avoided at all costs.

Kathryn loved those knives so much that she took them everywhere with her to the point where ppl thought it strange. She even slept with them at times and hung them over her bed. I learned this from a documentary on this case I just can't remember the name of it. It also said that Kathryn had such bad anger issues and had violent outbursts all the time. They would get worse when she drank. John was a hard worker but he enjoyed drinking beer when he got home and relaxing with co workers that were also considered his friends. John's friends were so concerned for his safety after witnessing all of these violent outbursts and begged him to cut ties with her. John's kids liked her in the beginning but also witnessed her outbursts and heavy drinking so she wasn't always their favorite person. They thought it was weird that she just showed up at the house that day but thought that their dad knew and was ok with it. Great job telling the story Mr ballen 😀 even though I've heard the story before, I was into it like Ive never heard it before at all! U truly are very gifted at telling stories!
yeah, I saw the same thing a few years ago. John even said to his friends _"If I don't show up for work it'll be because_ she _killed me"_ or something to that effect.
And that's what happens when you ignore every giant red flag. Poor guy. At least she didn't succeed in completely traumatizing and probably killing his kids
The story telling is amazing and so captivating❤. Unfortunately, Katherine Knight had a long abusive history towards her partners, her four children and others by the time she met John Price. She had 3 daughters and 1 boy before her relationship with Price. Some of her past history of assault include, trying to strangle her ex-husband David Kellet in his sleep after "only" having intercourse with her three times on their wedding night. While heavily pregnant with Kellet's first child she "hit him across the back of the head with a frying pan, simply because he had arrived home late from a darts competition after reaching the finals". He suffered a fractured skull. She was abusive towards her own children. She put one of her infant daughters on a train track shortly before the train was due. Only with the intervention of a vagrant "Old Ted", who happened to be forgaing by the tracks at the time, was her daughter rescued from the train arriving within moments of the chance encounter. She assaulted other people as well, including slashing a woman's face to try and force her to look for David Kellet after he tried to leave her. By the time the police were called after this assault, she took a young boy hostage while threatening him with a knife. She even killed a puppy she had with her ex David Saunders, right in front of him, for no other reason than to prove to him what would happen if he ever cheated on her. This is a very short list of her behavior before meeting Price. There is much, much more to the story.

There is a whole lot of history of Katherine being extremely violent towards John. It was all but out of nowhere. Leaving that history out paints a completely wrong picture.
Completely agree. This was not out of nowhere, she had history of extreme violence and she was having an affair with the guy she killed while she was with someone else. Should have told him all he needed to know.
@@gimlee8669 the way the story is presented makes it seem like she was someone who wanted a normal life but life kept dealing her bad hands and one day she snapped suddenly. The reality is that she was violent and erratic long before this murder.
She was very abusive to every man she was with. SHE was the problem; SHE was the "wife beater". Her ex's were scared of her. Also, John had told his neighbor the night before that if his van was still parked in the front yard at six o'clock the next morning, to call the cops; nobody from his work came, and the cops were the only ones knocking on the door. The table was not set up like a feast; it was a very simple dinner for two. The second the cop tried to move the weird curtain, the cop went into a freaked out panic because he realized right away it was flesh. There is a lot more that was not correct about his version of the story, but to sum it up, Mr. Ballen added here and there and really down played how insane this woman was. Everybody that went into that house to work that case got scared out of their freaking minds! It was that bad.

Yeah that’s messed up on so many levels. Especially in Australia where “life” sentence is only 25 years and you usually get out after 15 years on good behaviour. I’ve seen first time murderers get out after 13 years into a 25 year sentence So for her to never be released was huge here in NSW AUSTRALIA
Here in Canada it's worse....25 years for murder and your out in a year to five.....watched it happen here in Cape Breton at least 10 times.....murder there gf or wife and out within a couple years. Sick.
heer in the US a life sentence is the natural life of the criminal. However, IF the judge doesn't put these 5 little words behind that sentence, "withouth the possibility of parole." the criminal will be elegible for parole in 25 years, 50 if convict for 2 life sentences, etc. i always thought it was redundant that someone was sentenced multiple life sentences until i found this out.
I love the episode but you make her sound far more sympathetic than she actually is. Katherine Knight got Pricey fired because she reported him for theft for taking out of date and disposed of first aid kits from work. She was also incredibly violent and emotionally unstable in relationship and very scary. The fact that she ended up murdering someone was fairly inevitable sadly.
Yes. She is just a shitty, controlling bully, not a person who deserves an ounce of understanding. She was a crazy biotch for the majority of her life, nothing more.

Crimes That Shook Australia is a great show and it's on Tubi. If you don't have it, it's a free app that has tons of shows and movies. There's also Crimes That Shook Britain if you're into true crime, also on Tubi. The Australia one has an episode on this case that tells a lot more about this case. This woman didn't just "snap". She was a total psycho since she was young- slept with her abbatoir knives hanging over her bed, decorated her house with dead animals, left her baby on train tracks years earlier, abused every partner she ever had, etc. A real prize.
I thought at first she might have served up his children in the dishes and then killed him. The success of Mr Ballen's stories is that he doesn't give any previous history of the guilty person, making it all the more shocking when we find out the truth which we had not guessed.
The only issue, I think, is that he should have clarified at the end the early life details which would spoil the shock of what she did. Katherine Knight was essentially always volatile and abusive, both to partners and to random people. Her failed love life wasn't due to "just not being able to find a good man" but because she was a violent woman who would regularly assault her husbands. She has a rap sheet pre-murder that makes you wonder how she ever escaped prison time long enough to kill John Price.

This was really well done! I feel as an Australian we have all heard a lot about this story, something else to add would have been how she was to other partners. She was psychotic and most of the violence and abuse came from her. Also, I believe there was a few altercations at the local pub or in public and John made a comment about how she’d be the death of him; I’m not exactly sure of the wording but it’s along those lines.
Totally agree. He forgot to add in that Katharine hung her work knives on the wall above her bed and no one was allowed to touch them. She almost killed her first husband.

Edit/Corrections:
-It was John's head that she fractured with a frying pan on a previous occasion.
- John also said to his neighbor's the night before he was murdered "If I haven't left for work tomorrow morning, she's killed me."
I only mention this because the way this narrative is told makes it seem as though Katherine Knight was a normal woman who snapped. Katherine is a SEVERELY mentally ill person who has very dangerous fetishizations of sexual violence. Her status of never being released is necessary as Katherine is too far gone to be rehabilitated, she will always be a danger to society if she is free. (these are the opinions of 4 separate clinical psychologists who evaluated Katherine)
Edit #2: I can't believe I have to make this but people keep @ing me acting like I'm some apologist for Katherine Knight.

Then there is, of course, reading assignments on books and articles to whatever the Prof. wants to discuss in depth or just get you to have a grasp of.

My boss and coworkers would be a bit concerned but given my history, it would probably be days before they checked into my absence! 😳

One of the most disturbing murders ever. It's interesting hearing about Katherine Knights history and previous relationships. She was violent way before this but her previous partners all survived. John Knight was actually scared of her, such a shame he couldn't keep her out of his life
she should be name *Hannibelle*
Do you know what happened to the kids ?
Yes.. she was incredibly violent and had homicidal tendencies many years before she married John.
I know people who were in prison with her at silver water women’s
Lovely lady by all accounts he was just a shitty husband
A friend of mine was sent to a Sydney western suburbs jail for women (minor offence), and would visit her from time to time. On one occassion whilst visiting her, she pointed out that the elderly lady at the table next to us was Catherine Knight. She just looked like any elderly grandmother. Truly hard to fathom the crime that she had committed.
My mum went to jail here in Australia when I was 11, she was in the same pod (or cell block) as Katherine, she's not allowed a cell mate because she stabbed her last one with knitting needles, mum said she was creepy, very violent and stuck to herself.

And everyone was afraid of her. At work, in her life. She was a toxic psychopath.
I’m noticing this comes up repeatedly with female domestic violence killers - the male partner says ‘if something happens to me, it was her’ a fear of being hurt so bad they won’t make it out. I somewhat agree but I think you're projecting a little when it comes to Kathrine.
I live in Australia and I remember this a lot of the police quit after finding the scene or had serious mental problems as you would. He was afraid of her and told his friends if he dies it will be her.

And that's what happens when you ignore every giant red flag. Poor guy. At least she didn't succeed in completely traumatizing and probably killing his kids
Monsters

It's nice to be enlightened hay Ryan
Look more into it due to a time frame this is only about 15% of the actual story.
This is an outstanding video and a true cautionary tale of the outcome of child abuse. Be kind to your kids. Great job, Mr. B.
