Thanks for the review. I've been collecting Howard singles (old and new), but haven't read any........ yet. Side note: Whenever you have time, watch the 80's Howard movie. It's one of those movies that are bad, but fun to watch.
Nice! Yeah this was my first entry into Howard the Duck. It really has me wanting to go back to read that original run. I’m not sure exactly what I expected but whatever it was this run exceeding all hopes. This was an absolute blast, great tone, lots of lasts, and even a good handful of truly heartfelt moments. Zdarsky hit it out of the park and Quinone’s art is superb throughout. Definitely recommended. And haven’t seen the movie but have heard it has a bit of a cult following ha. The so bad it’s good variety of movies from the sounds of it 🤷🏻♂️
@@drocksteadyreviews yeah it’s suspicious but it’s a fun read haha. It’s a shorter run which is probably why. There are maybe 2-3 instances in my printing where a word bubble or two randomly got cut off it looked like the page was maybe over magnified. Unclear if it’s an error on the whole run or not, but just as a heads up. Like I said I only notified it maybe 2-3 times in the whole omnibus and it did not stop my enjoyment of the book especially at that price point
Thanks for the review. Really unexpected conclusion. I was a big fan of the original run back in the 80s but had never even considered looking at this but didn’t really know why. It may be that this iteration doesn’t look as angry or frustrated as the original which was one of the character’s key attributes. Anyway your review has made me determined to look out for a bargain deal and I can’t say better than that. Thanks
Wow! Very glad to hear it! I now really want to go back and read the original run. I found this character to be a lot of fun. I would say Howard is more agitated than angry in this run. The surprising hijinks he got up to throughout this run was a welcome diversion from my more standard superhero reads. Also was fascinated by Zdarsky. I’ve only really read Daredevil of his marvel stuff-which I’m loving. To see what he brought to this title really helped me see some of his range in a great way. You’ll have to let me know if you end up Giving this run a read 👍
@@TheComicBookReport will do. Have an LA freeway-size backlog of omnis to read so if you are still on YT in 2026 I will let you know. Genuinely love the objective detailed and genuinely enthusiastic reviews. One of the great discoveries of the last few months
@@garyfoster65 wow well I really appreciate the compliment and glad you’re enjoying the channel :) Enjoy that Omni Backlog sir 💪 I just finished the Miles Morales Spider-Man Omnibus Vol. 1 last night so slowly making my way through my own backlog 😂
Read the history of Howard the duck and his creator it is really interesting especially his conflict with Marvel, and that the real Howard the duck escape the Marvel universe with Savage Dragon
This book is fantastic. Chip Zdarsky has a master's touch when taking the piss out of everything.
What a perfect way to describe it! Loved it so much 😂😂😂
