Hane Otori: A dance performed during a ceremony meant to scare away Tengu, performed at the backdoor of Jogyo-do Temple on Mt. Hiei, the high-seat of Tendai Buddhism and where Matarajin is enshrined. "Hane Otori/Odori" means "Leap Dance," but when written as "hane o tori" it sounds like "plucking feathers." Truly a Tengu's worst nightmare.
Keniyasahanam: While, at the front of Jogyo-do Temple, understandable sutras are recited, at the backdoor, nonsense sutras are recited as part of the above mentioned Tengu scaring cermony. "Keniyasahanam" is one of these nonsense sutras.
Om Namah [insert god here]: A popular and very important Hindu mantra, most often dedicated to Shiva, who has mythological ties to Matarajin. Within the context of this particular song, the mantra in question would mean something along the lines of, "O salutations to The Mothers," referencing the Seven Divine Mothers of Hinduism, or "Adoration to Matara."

I’m absolutely floored by this song. It’s progression, it’s lyrics, it’s meaning. Everything. This has to be Akatsuki’s best song and probably the best display of Stack’s vocal range.

That's basically Stack in a nutshell. It's unusual, but in a good way; one that sets her apart from most other vocalists.

I mean, lots of japanese music and dubbing is kinda obsessed with the "moe moe" kind of character and voice.
@@korimuzel5230 do take into account that the songs that the moe singers are singing call for that type of voice, since it’s usually present in some sort of animated show, more or less a more one catering more towards children/teens. Besides that, singers usually sing in their more natural voice unless they need to fit some type of theme, like a lot of the touhou songs stack sings have a rock/metal undertone to them leading to the voice she uses in this song but there are times where she uses a cuter voice like in the one where she covered momoyo’s theme.
@@korimuzel5230 How much Japanese music you listen to? I don't know too much Japanese bands that I listen to that try to sound cute or like a child... Though Stack does do a cutesy anime voice for some songs, some I like some I don't...

Actually she's wise as well.
The reason she did what she did in 4 seasons has 3 reasons :
1. To find a new successor ( is that the right spell haha.. ) of her servants. The reason may between she actually pity the current servants who have served her or quite a long time or simply find them incompetent so she wants to find new ones.
2. In other for the people in the new era to know her. She has been a secret god for quite some time.
3. As a warning for some youkai who has the nerve to think they can rule gensokyo over. ( and one of them is tengu. That's why aya who had noticed the reason of the action didn't publish her news because it means she will do what okina wants her to do. You can read it in wild and horned hermit ch 42 )
But basically in stage 6 she was acting up.
In extra stage, she shows more sympathy and pride towards you, your boldness and cleverness made her want to fight fair and square, and even more sympathy towards Aya as she wants to make a peace agreement. She leaves the choice to her servants's possible new successors instead of not leaving them a choice. About her actual servants, she treated them as a lousy pair in stage 6 and then as poor things in extra. But since she's acting up in stage 6...
But what would happen if Aya did publish her news ? Would this make a war Tengu vs Okina ?

2 years later but - Okina can literally create life, as she made a statue into a youkai. She isn't as much a manipulator of boundaries as a manipulator of lifeforce. Manipulating the nature of seasons is just a very small way she can utilize her powers. Yukari can only manipulate the wall that separates 2 or more factors, but she can't create something from nothing.
@@Lewtable Yukari controls the even the concept of boundaries, whist something has a theoretical opposite she could most likely manipulate it, Zun basically gave her a really op power, she could just pull out, "the boundary between nothing and something" or "the boundary between the animate and inanimate", this is mainly due to her power can apply to anything that has an opposite therefore a boundary, ZUN can just make her start making life out of nowhere and pull some boundary thing to explain why
so okina opens doors and yukari opens walls, we just need someone to open roofs, someone to open windows, and someone to open floors and we have a complete open house

She's beautiful.
There is a clear reason why she's one of the Sages of Gensokyo.
Indeed... Quite unlike Kasen, who kinda pales in comparison to both Yukari and Okina. Like, seriously, we got an entire manga series dedicated to exploring Kasen but, with just a few brief appearances, Okina has managed to almost completely eclipse her among the Sages... We seldom have any actual idea what Okina is trying to accomplish, but that tends to just further emphasize how she's playing in Yukari's league while Kasen does her Reimu's-mother-figure shtick at the shrine.

Kasen felt like the weakest of the trio but that doesn't change the fact that she's still a Sage and a powerful one at that.
I think Okina is the most underrated of the trio and she awfully resembles Marisa with her Extroverted Confident Personality while Yukari contrasts with Reimu's with her Powerful yet Lazy personality...Which make sence considering why their chemistry kinda works in games while Okina gives Plus for Marisa (and Cirno ._.) while a no no for Reimu and aya
I really do wish Okina to get more appearence.
@@jaysanj152 Of course, the fact that Kasen basically intentionally gimped herself in order to separate herself from her Oni nature and realizing her ambition of pursuing "the way of heaven" probably has something to do with her lower level of power. I mean, the level she was at there at the end of WaHH, when she reunited with her arm, felt far more Sage-of-Gensouyou-like. And given the implications that she needs to invoke her old name in order to assert influence over the barrier, that's probably her true Sage-of-Gensoukyou-form... Like, good for her that she has principles that she feels are more important than power, but it's not really doing our impression of her station among her peers any favours.
Yeah, it'll be nice if Marisa gets some Sage backup in future titles. I mean, Kasen's good eye to Reimu aside, Yukari has teamed up with our shrine maiden on more than one occasion, so it'd be nice to see an IN or SA-like cooperation between Marisa and Okina in the future...

Of course, noting Okina's resemblance to Marisa still just scratching the surface; taking a look at Matarajin's lore quickly reveals that Okina has connections to almost every single faction in Gensoukyou... Here's to more Okina content in the future; both within ZUN's works and those of his many fans who so far have seriously been letting a character with some of the most expansive fan-work potential in the series yet just kinda slip between their fingers.
@@GrahamChapman Sakuya is probably the easiest to com across, then suddenly recommended is full of touhou, and then you get russian hardbass, you like the music, and then suddenly akatsuki records everywhere, and then this masterpiece

I mean Sakuya as character to get you into the rabbit hole, not that she's a sage, re reading my comment lol
@@mangouschase Yeah, that sounds like a pretty typical way of just kinda falling into the TH fandom. Honestly, EoSD _does_ tend to be the gateway in, regardless of whether it's Sakuya or Flandre that pulls you in.

At first i thought this was Junko but bruuh Okina is so perfect
