I actually find it intriguing that Ethan talks as if he was speaking to Reyes, as he still refers to you as sir. I feel like this was made moments before his self-destruction.
You also have to take into account that Ethan didn't really create as much of a bond with anyone else that he did with Reyes and I'm pretty sure he didn't really have much going on outside of the mission. Without a life outside the ship, and only really being close with one crew member, it makes sense for the final message to be meant for that crew member
Everyone says that Ethan's and Kashima's letters were the saddest, but you wanna know what hits me the hardest? Griffin's letter. I know what it's like to have your father leave when you were very young. The only thing I really know about my dad is his first name. I could relate to Griffin and I literally felt like crying when he said "I forgive you for leaving". Damn, this dude is one of COD's most underrated characters.
Gator’s was the saddest. He died before he even got the chance to meet his daughter and it had me at tears just now. This really shows how war is a pointless endeavour that brings no glory, only suffering and misery. If we are to survive as a species, we must forsake war and honour those who were needlessly slaughtered in all of Humanity’s wars. Peace to the Fallen.
Normally when I play the COD campaign I don't watch the entire credits scroll but when I play the campaign over and over again - This will definitely keep me on the credits..... Not crying at all. My eyes just sweat.
All of their final recordings hit us hard. Omar and his recording for his family. Mac with her message to her children. Gator with his message to his wife and child. E3N with his message to Nick. Ebele to her partner, we assure same sex partners. Griff to his dad. Boss to her partner Andrew. Kash to his family. Why did they not released Nick's?
@Michael Greenwood I know this is a year later, but man, I feel like that is so much sadder than I feel others would realize. Nick had nothing but the team, and he had to watch practically all of them die in front of him. He basically watched his brothers and sisters die one by one. Himiko Yumeno I understand that. It hurt me, too. But, Ethan wasn’t counted. It was kinda like a K9 in war. People get too attached, and they feel a relationship. The K9 isn’t put on a memorial, like soldiers. Same with horses during WWI, and WWII

What really moves me is that the game dosent do what most other games do when chacters die which is every chacter gets this badass last stand or a herioc scarfice,no this game shows us the reality of war omar went to save lee while in most games lee would survive and omar go down as this heroic hero (he still is) but instead the game showed a dark gritty reailty that not everytime you do something heroic it will pay off, lee and omar both die in a blazing infrno, another example that not every death is heroic is kashimer he simply bleed out from a cut from ship debris
This still shows that not everyone is gonna to survive in wars, it costs the lives who served in the military, and soldiers who had left their families behind to go to fight their enemy. Which these things still show how tragic war is.
