OK. Vulnerable time. I had a very emotional experience atop the half-built building you see near the end. It was so beautiful to play cello there. As we were playing this song over and over again while we filmed, I thought about its meaning. I thought about where I was in my life emotionally. I expect a lot from myself. I always have. Often I expect too much. I admit it. And when I don’t reach the zenith of those expectations I can be pretty hard on myself. If ever there was incarceration for self-abuse perpetrators, I’d be prisoner of the month. As I was thinking about how much I still need to build in my life, a very strong impression came to me. Has that ever happened to you? When you feel an impulse that prompts thoughts that don’t feel like “normal thoughts.” They feel weightier, with more perspective or profundity than the average passing notion -- the same way a good bridge elevates a song by throwing you from a repetitive verse and chorus regimen. These are thoughts that teach you rather than learn from you. I had such a moment. They don’t come that often, but when they do I try my best to listen and learn. The impressions persuaded me to look at my life from the top of a half-built building. Figuratively and literally. I began to think that maybe I spend too much of my life in the bottom floors of my life’s construction project -- that I fuss over the mess of my jobsite, I fret over the lack of finishes -- the ugly marred subflooring or the exposed metal framing. I berate myself for being way behind in the building process. I was taught that I needed to ascend more often to the top floor. Where there’s a view of how far I’ve come, how high part of my building has reached. And most importantly, where there’s an incredible view of the sunset, reminding me that tomorrow is another day and that I should keep building one day at a time. I totally embarrassed myself as I shed tears, trying to describe these “elevated thoughts” to the site’s supervisor after we had finished filming and I was thanking him for the opportunity they had given us to give visual meaning to the music. So I guess for me, and perhaps for anyone listening, that could be a takeaway. You don’t have to live your life on floor one. Or floor two or three. Or on any floor that isn’t yet completed. It will get there one day. And so will you. Don’t worry that the building next door is at floor 10. Just take a trip to your top however often you need and watch the sun set on all that you’ve strived to accomplish. Remember that there is Someone who built that sunset for you. And He doesn’t care how high your building is, just that you’re willing to keep building. And He says you’re plenty high enough for Him to see.
Thank you for sharing. :-) It makes the video even cooler, knowing it was a personal spiritual experience for you. One thing I loved about this video was "flipping" between the unfinished and finished building... like getting a glimpse of how we see ourselves in the here and now (accurately, as a work still in progress) versus the view of our "eternal selves" that God already has of us. In His timeless perspective, we are already who we are destined to become. I John 3:2 -- "Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is." I went through a really tough time when I was in college, being so hard on myself as you described, and driving myself into a dark place of depression and anxiety. The turning point came for me when I was able to really accept what I already knew in my head -- that God loved me for being His child, not for anything I accomplished, that my worth came from His love, and that nothing I do or accomplish could make Him love me any more. He already loved me enough to come to earth as Jesus to rescue me, and that perfection is what He sees when He looks at me. Amazing.

One of the many things I love about the piano guys is that they show so much musicality and put so much feeling into the music they create. Being a violinist makeing someone feel something from music can sometimes be more challenging than having perfect technique. Jon, after hearing this beautiful melody I felt I had to share my testimony with you. On April 24, 2004 my 8 year old daughter was murdered by my neighbor just 9 days from her 9th birthday. Then on August 27th 2013 my youngest daughter took her life just 4 days before her 17th birthday. Having lost both of my only children I had no will to live. On Friday October 25th 2013 I made the choice to end my life, but God had other plans for me. My wife got me out of the house and took me to speak with a therapist and after that she took me to see an ex girlfriend who was a manager at a local restaurant. She was going to give me a job so there would be someone to keep an eye on me so I wouldn't hurt myself. After all the running around, by the time we got home it was late in the evening and I wasn't feeling any better. I was sitting on my front porch unshowered and still wearing the same clothes I had been wearing for 6 days. I was at my lowest and had nothing left. My wife was sitting next to me trying to talk to me when I heard a voice that said I needed to go to church. On Sunday October 27th I went to a church near my home. Nobody there knew me or anything about what was going on in my life. That Sunday the head pastor wasn't doing the sermon, but instead was being given by the assistant pastor. As he began to give the sermon the head pastor got out of his seat and walked up to the podium. He said " I'm sorry to interrupt, but I just received a message and I was told to give it to someone who came to my church today." He said "I don't know who you are but God wanted me to give you this message." "He said that he knows that you're dealing with a great deal of hurt, pain, suffering, and a major loss in your life and he wants you to know that he's going to give everything that Satan has taken from you and he's going to give it back 10 fold." At that moment I felt a total peaceful presence come over me. All thoughts killing myself and sadness left my mind. God saved my life that day and restored my faith. 🙏🙏🙏
Wow....what a testimony. God loves you more than you will ever know. He knows your pain and your sorrows. When I am feeling hopeless I read Psalms 91. "He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge."

Oh my I’m in tears two of my favorite songs put together ! I have had a rough week and this just makes everything better I was fortunate to see you guys two days after I found out I had cancer. And here I am 2.5 years later still cancer free !

this is so cool coming back to this video about 2 years after it was filmed. I was a part of the crew that helped them bring the piano out to those red rocks (snow canyon/kayenta). it was truly such a fun and cool experience. the piano guys are so so kind and humble and extremely funny! just one of those experiences where i was in the right place at the right time. ❤️❤️

Steven Nelson was our graduate school classmate many years ago. I still clearly remember the day when he showed their new-born baby's picture to me. I admire his love and loyalty toward God, his family and music! Their music only gets more mature, never get old.
This rendition is beautiful. As a university music student, I love Beethoven. But, I also love Lauren Daigle and CCM. This is something I'm not sure I could share with anyone and have them fully enjoy it as I'm not sure a whole lot of my friends would listen to both of these genres. It's special, because in a weird way, I feel like it was made just for me. The God that's out there works in mysterious ways. Some may not feel this way, but I respectfully believe that a medley like this shows pictures that are pursuing us to keep living life to the fullest.
As a kid with Christian parents, I listened to this song many times over on car rides, watching the world and memories go by. When I’m alone, though, I develop a deep appreciation for the classical greats. If I had known at the start of the year, when I decided my New Year's resolution would be to dust off my old saxophone and start playing again, how important that would become this year... But shortly after I started searching RUclips for musical instruction and inspiration, and found your videos. You have inspired me to push myself further musically than I might have otherwise, and every single one of your videos makes me tear up because of the raw musicality of your performances, as well as just how genuinely awesome you are as people. I don't want fame or fortune, I'm perfectly happy with my day job, but I would love to someday be good enough on my sax to get invited to collabs with musicians halfway as great as you guys are, so I keep practicing, and your music is a big part of why, so thank you.

I know 2020 has been rough for a lot of people, and I'm not trying to compare my own struggles to anyone else's - just want to share my pain (my coping mechanism) and thank @ThePianoGuys for putting this out there. I lost my oldest son to suicide (in June) and last night, my beagle-basset peacefully passed away (raised him from 12 weeks to 9.5 years old). I needed to hear this song - and I sang every word of it as you played it. I just feel like I'm done -- and this is just a simply beautiful reminder that I needed to hear - I'm tired, I'm grieved, but I'm not done.

Her eyes lit up every time as for a moment, she was back with us. I lived 4 hours from the Taj while I lived in India for ten years. During that time my husband passed away. It will be extremely meaningful to see you there. So excited for when you get to resume your concerts also. I drove my family from TN to see you in St. Louis. All generations enjoyed so much.

Kathryn Reid exactly. They got the piano on the rooftop, desert, and some many other places. I’ve seen some of their behind the scenes videos and they use movie quality film equipment that weigh as much as cars sometimes. I don’t know how they transport that into different areas like the desert, but I can see the hard work that had been put in.

There is so much powerful imagery in the making of this video that echoes the thoughts and feelings and power of the original songs that were combined, but for me one image stands out above the others. I love the heart shaped red rocks in the overhead shot with the Piano Guys playing in the middle of it. It must have been quite the feat to get them setup atop that rock. The imagery brought to mind how incredibly difficult it is for us to fathom our place in God's heart. But we're there all the same. He loves us and believes in us and in our ability to reach our full potential.
This, with your expressions make me feel like I'm happily floating in beautiful clouds, in heaven. I had a similar feeling but lost it when I lost my dear husband. It's good to have it again, warms the heart. : )

There are millions of words out there. There are millions of notes, melodies, tunes, and songs out there. But every time I listen to the piano guys, it is as if everything is put into one piece. I have played the Sonata Pathetique on the piano, but the way they have arranged it makes it a whole new piece... But in a way, Beethoven is still peeking at us from underneath those notes. And when the songs change -- or not really changing, because it is a one big song now -- I can't get enough of it. It is simply brilliant. Magical. Enchanting. I love it. Every song the Piano Guys play, it seems to follow a storyline. There is a beginning, then a climax, then finally an ending. This song was wonderful. Thank you.

lauren's song means so much to me. My partner was near death, I was actually asked at the hospital what would he want for his last days. I listened to this song so much because of the phrase in it about not being enough. My partner says this so much. that was over a year ago, he had another surgery two weeks ago and we are steal healing

In the middle of a panic attack this song popped up so I listened to it. There are so many things going on in my life that feel out of control. I'm writing my masters thesis, and it feels too big to do. I have health issues that have no explanation. I'm learning about my personality traits that all contribute to a state of constant stress and I don't know how to fix it. This song came on and I started crying. The loudest voice I hear right now is my own telling me that everything is too hard and I can't do it. This was a good reminder that I can choose to believe the lies I tell myself or I can choose to believe what God says about me. Thank you for this.

You dont understand how your music makes me feel peace in my heart, calmness, i get emotional to a few of your pieces and i love it and i love how it makes me feel inside so vulnerable so beautiful so free.

It's incredible how much good music can lift your spirits. With the climate here in the US I've been stressed these last few months and listening to this made it feel like a huge chunk of that broke off and drifted away.

As much as I love the music these two guys play, it just drives me to tears (literally) to watch Steven play. With his eyes closed that way, it looks as though he is listening to the voices of angels as he plays. Steven ... that look of absolute joy on your face when you play touches me in a place SO deep that I am absolutely unable to hold back my tears when I watch/listen to you two guys. I totally embarrassed myself as I shed tears, trying to describe these “elevated thoughts” to the site’s supervisor after we had finished filming and I was thanking him for the opportunity they had given us to give visual meaning to the music.
So I guess for me, and perhaps for anyone listening, that could be a takeaway. You don’t have to live your life on floor one. Or floor two or three. Or on any floor that isn’t yet completed. It will get there one day. And so will you. Don’t worry that the building next door is at floor 10. Just take a trip to your top however often you need and watch the sun set on all that you’ve strived to accomplish. Remember that there is Someone who built that sunset for you. And He doesn’t care how high your building is, just that you’re willing to keep building. And He says you’re plenty high enough for Him to see.

One thing I loved about this video was "flipping" between the unfinished and finished building... like getting a glimpse of how we see ourselves in the here and now (accurately, as a work still in progress) versus the view of our "eternal selves" that God already has of us. In His timeless perspective, we are already who we are destined to become. I John 3:2 -- "Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is."
I went through a really tough time when I was in college, being so hard on myself as you described, and driving myself into a dark place of depression and anxiety. The turning point came for me when I was able to really accept what I already knew in my head -- that God loved me for being His child, not for anything I accomplished, that my worth came from His love, and that nothing I do or accomplish could make Him love me any more. He already loved me enough to come to earth as Jesus to rescue me, and that perfection is what He sees when He looks at me. Amazing.

One of the many things I love about the piano guys is that they show so much musicality and put so much feeling into the music they create. Being a violinist makeing someone feel something from music can sometimes be more challenging than having perfect technique. Jon, after hearing this beautiful melody I felt I had to share my testimony with you.
On April 24, 2004 my 8 year old daughter was murdered by my neighbor just 9 days from her 9th birthday. Then on August 27th 2013 my youngest daughter took her life just 4 days before her 17th birthday. Having lost both of my only children I had no will to live. On Friday October 25th 2013 I made the choice to end my life, but God had other plans for me. My wife got me out of the house and took me to speak with a therapist and after that she took me to see an ex girlfriend who was a manager at a local restaurant. She was going to give me a job so there would be someone to keep an eye on me so I wouldn't hurt myself. After all the running around, by the time we got home it was late in the evening and I wasn't feeling any better. I was sitting on my front porch unshowered and still wearing the same clothes I had been wearing for 6 days. I was at my lowest and had nothing left. My wife was sitting next to me trying to talk to me when I heard a voice that said I needed to go to church. On Sunday October 27th I went to a church near my home. Nobody there knew me or anything about what was going on in my life. That Sunday the head pastor wasn't doing the sermon, but instead was being given by the assistant pastor. As he began to give the sermon the head pastor got out of his seat and walked up to the podium. He said " I'm sorry to interrupt, but I just received a message and I was told to give it to someone who came to my church today." He said "I don't know who you are but God wanted me to give you this message." "He said that he knows that you're dealing with a great deal of hurt, pain, suffering, and a major loss in your life and he wants you to know that he's going to give everything that Satan has taken from you and he's going to give it back 10 fold." At that moment I felt a total peaceful presence come over me. All thoughts killing myself and sadness left my mind. God saved my life that day and restored my faith. 🙏🙏🙏

this is so cool coming back to this video about 2 years after it was filmed. I was a part of the crew that helped them bring the piano out to those red rocks (snow canyon/kayenta). it was truly such a fun and cool experience. the piano guys are so so kind and humble and extremely funny! just one of those experiences where i was in the right place at the right time. ❤️❤️

Steven Nelson was our graduate school classmate many years ago. I still clearly remember the day when he showed their new-born baby's picture to me. I admire his love and loyalty toward God, his family and music! Their music only gets more mature, never get old.
This rendition is beautiful. As a university music student, I love Beethoven. But, I also love Lauren Daigle and CCM. This is something I'm not sure I could share with anyone and have them fully enjoy it as I'm not sure a whole lot of my friends would listen to both of these genres. It's special, because in a weird way, I feel like it was made just for me. The God that's out there works in mysterious ways. Some may not feel this way, but I respectfully believe that a medley like this shows pictures that are pursuing us to keep living life to the fullest.

As a kid with Christian parents, I listened to this song many times over on car rides, watching the world and memories go by. When I’m alone, though, I develop a deep appreciation for the classical greats. If I had known at the start of the year, when I decided my New Year's resolution would be to dust off my old saxophone and start playing again, how important that would become this year... But shortly after I started searching RUclips for musical instruction and inspiration, and found your videos. You have inspired me to push myself further musically than I might have otherwise, and every single one of your videos makes me tear up because of the raw musicality of your performances, as well as just how genuinely awesome you are as people. I know 2020 has been rough for a lot of people, and I'm not trying to compare my own struggles to anyone else's - just want to share my pain (my coping mechanism) and thank @ThePianoGuys for putting this out there. I lost my oldest son to suicide (in June) and last night, my beagle-basset peacefully passed away (raised him from 12 weeks to 9.5 years old). I needed to hear this song - and I sang every word of it as you played it. I just feel like I'm done -- and this is just a simply beautiful reminder that I needed to hear - I'm tired, I'm grieved, but I'm not done.

Actually the Taj Mahal just reopened. Now is the time to go as there is practically no one there! The journaliste said about 200 people against the thousands who normally go every day.
I lived 4 hours from the Taj while I lived in India for ten years. During that time my husband passed away. It will be extremely meaningful to see you there. So excited for when you get to resume your concerts also. I drove my family from TN to see you in St. Louis. All generations enjoyed so much.
We had the Taj Mahal scheduled before Covid made other plans. 😖 We’ll get there one day. Hopefully soon. So happy to hear that it is open again!

Kathryn Reid exactly. They got the piano on the rooftop, desert, and some many other places. I’ve seen some of their behind the scenes videos and they use movie quality film equipment that weigh as much as cars sometimes. I don’t know how they transport that into different areas like the desert, but I can see the hard work that had been put in.
Not only is your music out of this world... your photography, videography, lighting, set design, production team is just phenomenal! God definitely blessed you with a talent that few can master. Bravo.

There is so much powerful imagery in the making of this video that echoes the thoughts and feelings and power of the original songs that were combined, but for me one image stands out above the others. I love the heart shaped red rocks in the overhead shot with the Piano Guys playing in the middle of it. It must have been quite the feat to get them setup atop that rock. The imagery brought to mind how incredibly difficult it is for us to fathom our place in God's heart. But we're there all the same. He loves us and believes in us and in our ability to reach our full potential.
This, with your expressions make me feel like I'm happily floating in beautiful clouds, in heaven. I had a similar feeling but lost it when I lost my dear husband. It's good to have it again, warms the heart. : )

This Pathetique is the last song my grandfather played on the piano for us to record him playing to remember him by. This is very special to hear, when I needed it most. Thank you.
There are millions of words out there. There are millions of notes, melodies, tunes, and songs out there. But every time I listen to the piano guys, it is as if everything is put into one piece.
I have played the Sonata Pathetique on the piano, but the way they have arranged it makes it a whole new piece... But in a way, Beethoven is still peeking at us from underneath those notes.
And when the songs change -- or not really changing, because it is a one big song now -- I can't get enough of it. It is simply brilliant. Magical. Enchanting. I love it.
Every song the Piano Guys play, it seems to follow a storyline. There is a beginning, then a climax, then finally an ending.

It's been said, of the difference between someone who's been educated in a particular subject, even well educated in it for years, say for instance music, (since this is why we're on here), and someone who has a passion for it, like you apparently do. Education and passion are two totally different things, but put them together and it becomes even more powerful. One can be musically educated, but it doesn't compare to being gifted and having a passion for it. It's just not the same. A musician's profound love of music can be heard, felt, and seen, even if you can't actually see them. This is how y'all play!!! Thank you so very much for this!!!

I'm writing my masters thesis, and it feels too big to do. I have health issues that have no explanation. I'm learning about my personality traits that all contribute to a state of constant stress and I don't know how to fix it. This song came on and I started crying. The loudest voice I hear right now is my own telling me that everything is too hard and I can't do it. This was a good reminder that I can choose to believe the lies I tell myself or I can choose to believe what God says about me. Thank you for this.

It's incredible how much good music can lift your spirits. With the climate here in the US I've been stressed these last few months and listening to this made it feel like a huge chunk of that broke off and drifted away.

As much as I love the music these two guys play, it just drives me to tears (literally) to watch Steven play. With his eyes closed that way, it looks as though he is listening to the voices of angels as he plays. Steven ... that look of absolute joy on your face when you play touches me in a place SO deep that I am absolutely unable to hold back my tears when I watch/listen to you two guys.
