Monica has some constriction (valsalva) and instead of developing her chesvoice fully and through her register she mixes, which is a relativelly new technique that relies on constriction. It has a fake clarity that resembles chestvoice but it doesn't have the same power, nor depth nor clarity, and it becomes a shrill sounding, falseto-like belting technique specially the higher it goes. Whitney with a naturally smaller voice has a much bigger resonant sound than Monica, who has those constrictions I said. In terms of headvoice there is no comparison, Whitney's hesdvoice is developed, deep but clear. Monica's loses all clarity so the vowels become almost unrecognisable in her headvoice.

@@Oliver2020. sure. Opera singers used to have a very develop chestvoice with a free sound, without contriction. Monica has some constriction (valsalva) and instead of developing her chesvoice fully and through her register she mixes, which is a relativelly new technique that relies on constriction. It has a fake clarity that resembles chestvoice but it doesn't have the same power, nor depth nor clarity, and it becomes a shrill sounding, falseto-like belting technique specially the higher it goes.
Whitney with a naturally smaller voice has a much bigger resonant sound than Monica, who has those constrictions I said.
In terms of headvoice there is no comparison, Whitney's hesdvoice is developed, deep but clear. Monica's loses all clarity so the vowels become almost unrecognisable in her headvoice.

I'm sorry, but you are wrong. Mónica has valsalva and other constructions. Her high belts are still loud but they are much thinner and nasal than they could be. I would say Whitney won this. The mid belts were a tie but Eb5 and above Whitney won. Her upperbelts are more versatile and ear pleasing
you can hear that mONICA IS very open throat up to a c#5/d5 then from d5/Eb5 you can hear the timbre shift, which shows she has switched coordination to sing higher. Twang and slight nasality. Whitney is open throat till the end. No muffling and no compression of her voice which strips the voice of the harmonic overtones
