I just want to say that this tutorial is what EVERY tutorial should be like!!! I have been sewing for over 50 years, but as an adult with ADD I need clear, concise instructions. I've seen so many videos lately that have important steps left off! The videos sometimes have music only, with no verbal instructions. I have a very hard time following those!! Thank you SOOOOO much for sharing this video with everyone! It's perfect!!!!!
I just tried it out, and it worked so well! I hand-saw it using the back stitch since I don't have a sewing machine, and the result was great even with that! Thank you so much for sharing your tutorial, Erica! Lots of love from Brazil!
Thank you for showing the zipper being inserted without a zipper foot! I will usually skip trying any tutorial that requires a zipper foot. This is cute and fast and I'm going to try it.

Thank you for the clear, well lit, well communicated, concise instructions! And no blocking the view with your hands, which happens a lot in other videos and is very frustrating when trying to learn. 🎉

Very nice. Love the fabric. The only thing I would add would be top stitching each side of the zipper to prevent possible catching the zipper in the lining.

A lovely pouch! I made loads of pouches but don't like the bumpy or bulky dents at the side seam corners of the zips some methods leave. This is super easy, and I'm away to let my young learners watch this to have a go at making one! Thank you Erica x

Update: I MADE A POUCH! Thanks so much..those zipper pads make a world of difference! It took me a while to make it but well worth the mindfulness meditation~happy sewing friends ✌🏼
Hi Erica Thank you for a great tutorial. However I have a problem and I dont know how to resolve it. At the point when you take the 2 outer sides together on the right and the 2 lining pieces on the left in order to sew all around to close the bag, the pieces dont lie flat like yours. I have the zip that stands up like a tent, and there is no way that I can sew around the bag to close it. In your video, you gloss over this part of the instructions and I just can't work out what is wrong. But I definitely can't sew around the bag. Any suggestions please?

I like to top stitch around tabs and zipper. Also add label tag (baste to raw edge) before finishing. Love the fabric

Great tutorial, but how do you sew across the zipper teeth without ruining your needle? (I know it is a rookie question)
I think it works ok with the plastic zips but definitely not the metal zips x
I think i have done both, but tbh, i go verry slowly. I guess if you are concerned you could actually whip stitch it by hand with doubled thread.
