My grandpa passed away about a year ago, this song has kept me so strong, bob segar was his favorite and this was the song he dedicated to me when i was a little guy, I don’t think anyone knows how many times I’ve clicked this video 😢❤
My dad always told me “This is our song” I was a little one that time, everyone I want to feel close to him I play this song. He passed about 4 years ago.
To walk the rivers of heaven is what I feel in his voice, may all watching and reading this one day walk the banks of your own river in the home of our Lord, God bless you each and one and all 🙏
what i love about Bob Seger's songs-is it takes each person to their own place, a good place, a memory, a time you remember that you thought you'd forgotten..for awhile-we all live in that moment..
A musical genius. Who could write these lyrics? Who could assemble a band like Silver Bullet? Take listen to just one: "Somewhere tonight." You tell me.
We are so fortunate to have the hope of seeing our loved ones again because of what Jesus did in the cross. I pray the holy spirit comforts your heart.
I sincerely hope this music never dies... it would be the end of good music as we know it. I'm 17 and I'm into this music (I wish I was when I was 13 or so) lot of my friends laugh that I listen to "old" stuff, but I always say music gets better with age, just like wine.
I fell in love with the music and the man and band when I was 14 years old. Every up and down, every in between Bob was always there. How deeply music moves us, heals us. That was a long time past now, but I still listen . How grateful I remain over all the years , for the music, for the man , I’m still the same
Bob if by chance you are reading this, let me just say, In my opinion you are the BEST song writer EVER !! How on Gods green earth can anybody come up with these kind of Lyrics ?? You my friend touch the hearts and souls of everybody reading this !! Would ABSOLUTELY LOVE to someday shake your hand and THANK YOU !!
Athena Woods With all due respect, what a crappy thing to say to the guy. Why burst the man's bubble. Besides, who are you to say that Bob Seger isn't reading this. I just don't understand your need to reply to his comment in such a way. Why take away the man's little bit of hope that perhaps he IS reading it? What purpose does that serve?
Have to Say MissDistarr " Thank You " for your Comment !! Your Right, What a thing to say !! I'd be willing to bet she ain't much of a Seger Fan like we are !! Even if she is a fan how bout saying something " Positive " to my post !! Bottom Line I'll put Seger in the Top Three BEST Song Writers of ALL TIME !!!!
not many songs i can play over and over-and feel and get something different in emotions and feelings each time..but this is one of them! I remeber my uncle taking me down by a river stream-and then years later-i took my son down by a different river stream..totally cool..
Wasn't at the river but at the lake with my brother yesterday.. It was just what I needed.. Everything fell in place..I have been so confused... But the serenity and peace and time with him put it all together.. I am finally at peace.. I am ready to move forward now!
I grew up on Michigan's inland rivers...most are small and slow and quiet. I can remember a timeless, one with the universe feeling while being on them. And then some people would come along or you see some trash and you realize we really aren't good for the planet. All the other animals live in symbiosis...why did we have to lose that ? It's a shame.
Yes Mr Bob Segar was a Blessing from our Good Lord he has blessed us with many many song's that have changed peoples lives for the good and I'm a prime example.I am a Vietnam Vet and drank did all kind of drug's and Bob's music help my fine a peace with-in myself and I have been clean for 10 year's now.ZEUS
zeussnuggles I’m glad that you found peace to help you get away from the drugs. I’m sorry that you and the other Vietnam veterans were treated the way y’all were. Thank you for your service.

Seen Bob last night in Pittsburgh. His final tour. Sad sweet memories. Hes been there my whole life with a song for so many occasions. Ill alwaus be a fan... End to an era
My grandfather saw his last show of the 2017 tour, in Pittsburgh. He was dying of cancer, it was his last outing. He LOVED Bob, and I grew up hearing this... was also a skilled fisherman. That show was September 28th. My grandfather passed November 3rd 2017. Just lost my best friend on November 5th this year. He held me together through the passing of my grandfather. Still very messed up about my Pap, doubly so now that my friend is gone. Bob is keeping me together. Songs like this... feels like he (Seger) witnessed our lives.
So sorry for your mom and you I keep thinking it gets better but when you have loved someone like I did my husband it's so hard.Prayers and Love coming to your mother..God Bless
Godspeed to all. I had a recent loss of a beloved family member. I believe there is strength in the memories have of shared experiences in ones life. Our time on Earth is a only a small-step to everlasting life.
bob your part of my life it started when i was 15im 58 now and i still love your music an incredible man, always a smile we all have made mistakes but as for me you rock this world, will always love you, your friend and follower for life love you forever.mellaine
He makes you feel with this song that we could almost make it work . Return the Earth back to the simple yet so important way it was and should be again ! If only ?
one of the most underrated(by mainstream critics....his fans are what matters though) singer/songwriters in the history of recorded music. Seger is as much of an American treasure as Elvis, Cash, Willie, Kristofferson, Waylon, Sinatra, James Taylor, Loretta Lynn, Dolly, etc. hearing his music is a priveledge.
This is the first time I've heard this song ,it's absolutely amazing, I love his music and always ❤💜 Bob Seger is the Man ,my age is right behind Bob's, and he has been such a factor in my life ,HE has kept this Lady young and I will always be grateful 🙏❤♥💙 .
Best ever... lived on the streets of America from 17 to 31..It was like Bob was writing the songs just for me. now I'm a street musician and song writer
I have canoed down that river many times, its always the most peaceful trip I love it, if you went down that river any time in the 90,s and earlier from grayling you would have passed by Doug Fosters homestead he was a great guy he had a home that looked like a log cabin with a rock wall by the river, he always had either native American or bagpipes playing on a cd right by the river some times he would wear a kilt other times a native head dress (some times both at the same time).
I lost my Son to A battle with cancer. This song touches my memory of him . I keep a copy on my music stand. I sing it and I sang it as a memory of him on this day of his passing. He and I were like oil and water but I know he love me , and I , him! I hope this song brings back as many memories for you as it does me!
I grew up by a river on my grand parents land and this song makes me think of every feeling I felt as I stared into the ripples. Thanks Bob you are so top knotch!!
Bob always reminded me of my uncle marvin. i sure miss him , and my sweet niece nel nel who lost her life way to soon! i love my family so much it kills me!!!!!
@passions1959 Carole don't give up hope. Return to the river for a walk, fly fish like I do, skip rocks on the water or just sit and listen to it's soothing babel. Let it help you heal your troubled heart, mind and soul. Those old feelings are still there no matter what others may think or do. Let the tranquility of nature help you find them again. I love the song and this video of the Au Sable is awesome! Thanks for posting this!
I was his Capitol records promotion man in Detroit 1974-1978. He was a story teller. I was in search of stories to explain it all. Beautiful Loser, Turn the Page, East Side Story, Heavy Music, 2+2 after my brother was killed in Vietnam, Get out of Denver-my alienation, and then the hits. A story teller true and true. From Travelin' man to Beautiful Loser. It was a song. It was a story. It was a part of my life.
I also want to dedicate this to my Mama. It so looks like the Fox in Illinois. That's where she will go to rock/ rest. Thank you God for blessing us all for a wonderful woman!!'
