I was at the game, it was fantastic, so good to see Spurs play. Very proud Australian of Ange, was over the moon to hear he was the new manager. Thanks for the background news Ali.
As a romanian, i love to see dragusin get some minutes and prove people that he will not be the next chiriches. He is a beast when it comes to training and can become a started for us
So calm objective professional Ali. It’s a joy when I see a new podcast of yours pop up. 69 years old 61 of them Tottenham. My first season ticket in 1962/63 until at 24 I got married and got a mortgage. A Chiswick born boy whose father a Portsmouth fan for some reason took him to Tottenham when he said I want to go to a football match. Not as you’d expect Brentford Fulham Chelsea QPR or even worse Woolwich. And so my love for my club was born. Now living in Charlotte NC following from afar. Still in love with my club as I was that first time standing on the Park Lane End Lucky for me earliest I have to get up is 7:30 if we are the 12:30 game now. Love what you do and the hour and more I spend listening to you brings a joy into my life thanks Ali keep up the great work.
Ali Gold one of our own. You consistently speak to the volume of the fanbase that want to experience the sheer joy, pleasure & belief in our club. It’s not a choice, lifestyle or hobby. It’s in our DNA. You journalist skills provide us with your fascinating insights long maybe it continue my G😂👏🏽 COYS
Dedication of the highest order Ali. I flew into Melbourne to watch the British and Irish Lions in 2013 and I was knackered and I was in the country for another 2 weeks!
Hi Alasdair, thank you for your commitment in covering spurs in Melbourne. You are the one and only reporter that I watch, your dedication is outstanding. Stay safe and well. COYS.
Despite all the criticism around the timing and purpose of the trip, I'm thoroughly grateful I got to see Spurs play in the flesh! Kind of surreal to be seeing pretty much the same team you'd be getting up to watch in the middle of the night, week in week out, playing right in front of you. Was a bit of a shame that, maybe just from where I was sitting, or due to the way tickets were sold and how Newcastle and Spurs fans were kind of all interspersed with each other throughout the stadium, I couldn't really hear either side getting any proper chants going that much. But I guess that could also be down to there being a lot of people watching who aren't used to that sort of thing on this side of the world. One surprising thing I came away from the match with though was a greater interest in the academy players! They all looked bright when they were on the pitch, so will now be following their careers with greater interest. 🙂
12:24 I bet Skippy was popular in Australia. Apparently, he saved 3 kids who were trapped in a well and rescued little Timmy from an abandoned mine shaft 😂
Same thing happened to me when I flew to Korea. Waking up at 3:30 am in an apartment so small that I couldn't burp without everyone hearing it. I remember laying in bed for a couple of hours listening to early morning bird song.
What a lovely surprise this is. Thought you’d be catching up on sleep Ali. Us spurs fans are lucky to have you giving your time for spurs. So excited for next season and what the summer brings in terms of change. Great to see the youth players get some minutes too, so much talent that can hopefully be at our disposal in the years to come
Thank you for all your efforts on behalf of us supporters on all things Tottenham Hotspur … greatly appreciated. As a Spurs fan of over 60 years, I find your comments insightful, providing us with all the background that feeds our appetites for information on the club. Rest up … Pass on our thanks to Mrs Gold for providing you with a pass for Sunday’s U.21’s finale!
When was the last time we had this many young players with this much potential? Lankshear, Donley, Hall, Moore, Bergvall, not to mention VDV, Porro, Udogie, Vicario (for a keeper). I have hope that we win something next year but in any case the future is ridiculously bright
I don’t mean to be rude. But that’s not what this channel is about. If you want short, sensationalist transfer rumours then there are at least 5 others RUclips channels that you could pick.
@@Longeezy you said it yourself, the point being it would not be sensationalist if it was Ali doing it. Within his 1 hour 30 minute videos - he always talks for 20/30 mins about transfers.
Ali, you have now truly gone global mate! Love how you love Melbourne, it is a great part of the world! Props to your amazing efforts to constantly bring us killer content that all your listeners love ❤❤
I’m one of those Aussies that watches the late night/early morning games when I can and was excited for the opportunity to see Spurs and Arsenal Women live, in person. We were going to fly the whole family down (from Queensland) for the week as my wife supports the Arsenal women. Unfortunately, we couldn’t afford it. TBH it would have been disappointing to only see one half of the 1st teams. Even worse the Newcastle vs Aleague All stars game was really Aleague All Stars vs Newcastle U21s. The Aleague All Star Women vs Arsenal Women was the most interesting out of all of them. But we were still able to watch all of the games live, usually the kids just get the highlights.
Love to see the video and a long one at that, but you have to take care of yourself and get some rest. Happy to see you made it through all your travels safely, Ali!
Alasdair you really deserve a prize, the cup for the best Spurs journalist (this is a sincere comment), as you've made a pod with Guesty and now this one despite huge tiredness following 2 very very long flights and double jetlag. You've got the respect of many many many Spurs fans I can tell you ! Yes, I'm really happy to have been following you since I discovered you on RUclips, making a review of the progress in the building of the new stadium.😉. Believe it or not, I've never missed one of your vids since that day. From a happy follower 💙
I know a couple of Aussie fans, 3rd and 4th generation, for whom the visit of Spurs to the MCG met the sort of expectations that you described. I'm sending them a link to this video as I am sure that they will appreciate it. Thanks for the effort to report this in such vivid detail. Old fashioned journalism and it's great!
Brilliant stuff, Ali! Was a crazy trip all round, but my Spurs mad 11yr old here in Melbourne (and his old English dad) were delighted Spurs came down. Disappointed they were a bit standoffish and didn’t do any autographs even after the open training on Tuesday evening, but understandable perhaps with the all the Son mania. On the other hand, my Newcastle supporting friend bumped into Dan Burn just having a wander around Melbourne…
Thanks Ali. What a trip. I watched the 3 part interview. It was very insightful. Nice to see the side of Ange not normally seen. Thanks again Ali Hope you get some quality rest.
Can't believe you made the trip for such a quick turnaround! Thanks for following them down there and giving us the updates, looking forward to the next pieces you put out. Get some rest!
You’re already back! Damn when Big Ange reacted to you at the press conference didn’t think I would do the same double take with you and the blue wall at home. Hardest working man in show biz
Yet there are people. Sure.you know them calling you a yes man while they tell fans not to show, sll while doing their post match shows from the stands. You are a hero.
Hi Ali, my dad has been a Spurs fan since the 60s and I for 35+ years. I appreciate very much that you continuously advocate for Tottenham fans all over the world and empathise with the sacrifices that we make to follow the team. As always, thanks also for all the work that you to satiate our unquenchable thirst Tottenham news. Cheers.
AFL was previously VFL (Victoria) and all the clubs were based there. Melbourne became Sydney Swans in the early 80's and this started the sport being franchised throughout Oz and becoming AFL. A bit geeky but there you are.
Ok, the trip is tyring.. I've done a few gigs after travelling from Australia to Europe or america and its tough. Fair play to you and the team for enduring it. What you folks over in england might not be considering is that about 50 000 of the people at the game have apent all season getting up at 3 am , or staying up until 3am, to watch spurs play, often on a Monday morning before work. This gesture by the players and club to come and let us attend a game is very appreciated and id like to just tell everyone in europe who thinks it was a stupid idea ..piss off, we deserve it. Coys coys coys oi oi oi
Well said I travelled the World in my job as an Engineer in the Merchant Navy. The last Trophy I watched Spurs win was the 1991 FA Cup final and I watched it in Wellington New Zealand boy that was tough.
Respect Ali! As someone who has had many roles that required equally shattering travel schedules you have my deepest sympathy for how you must have been feeling. Thank you for making the effort and your usual insights into all things Tottenham.
You now get how hard it is for Asian players, including Australian players, to deal with national duties and the program the International teams have to play in. So you guys need to toughen up.!!... 😅lol and If you want good answers from Ange you need to ask well researched and intelligent questions..... From an Ange watcher for 40+ years.
You can't visit Australia like a weekend getaway to Capri. It has to be at least 3 weeks to include departure and return. But that is pure Spurs devotion. ✈️ Brilliant )
Great stuff Ali. BTW could you not argue that Biss HAS demonstrated being an elite 6 at the start of the season? During this phase we were playing super attractive and functional football (with just the forwards not fully firing) BUT nobody was arguing how good Biss was, with many putting him as our best player at that point, with an awful lot of competition.
Thanks for the video, Alasdair, and for putting your body through the rigours of two long flights in a couple of days. I quite enjoyed the Newcastle game and kudos to both sets of players for putting on a decent display for the fans. For next season I think there is a good case for keeping Dane Scarlett around for the Europa League games. I remember Harry Kane making his Europa League debut for Spurs against Hearts in 2011 and it would be great if Dane could get some starts in Europe next season.
I thought the youth players looked really sharp on the night. Internally the future looks bright for Spurs without needing to rely on overseas players to fill the void in certain key positions.
Great effort to get here and back home so quickly Alasdair! Loved Ange's reaction to seeing you. You are correct, AAMI Stadium is pronounced Amy. Ange's interview you're talking about, the interviewer is Hamish McLachlan. His older brother Gillon McLachlan was CEO of the AFL here in Australia from 2014 to 2023. Thanks for all your great work.

Hey Ali! Thought Id let you know that Eddie How thought it would be a good idea to field a youth team here tonight in Melbourne against the A League All Stars. Didnt turn out well for Newcastle. A League All Stars 8 Newcastle 0
Cheers Ali, and not forgetting the sacrifices your wife makes as well 💝💞. Love your love for Ange and Melbourne, although us Queenslanders aren't supposed to admit that we feel the same.
Thanks for going 30 thousand feet above and 20 thousand miles to bring us some exciting news and insight into our beloved Spurs. Hope the jet lag was worth it! Question - if you were Ange, which elements of our game would you adapt going into the next season? What are the key lessons from this season? Thanks Kat
G'day Ali. Huge effort mate. Glad you got some recognition. Not sure if it's just me, but I feel like you're the journalistic equivalent of a wonder kid. One of our own.
Hi Ali, my question is in regards to Manor Solomon. At the beginning of the season we played a friendly against Shakhtar Donetsk and it was rumoured that Shakhtar representatives wanted a meeting with Spurs about how we signed Solomon. Basically they felt they should get something for him in some way, maybe future sales etc. do you know if any deal was made?
Bloody hell Ali Gold!! You did 1.5 hours of video albeit sleep deprived. Super Ali Gold! Wish you a good sleep and speedy recovery from the long haul. Thank you for all the stories as always! COYS!
Another good video mate looking forward to what we will do in the summer a question What do you think ange will do to make us more solid but not comprises our style of play
The comment Mr Gold makes to make sure all Spurs fans get factel information. I do think Ange will have Spurs playing even better. Levy is in the zone as Ali says in the video there is lots of deal that can be made for how Levy likes to work. Players want to come to the Spurs as they know they are going to be part of something big. These players won't cost 80m or higher. Diff think Spurs can finish in the top 4 or higher. Liverpool will be in transition. Arsenal will suffer mentally and Villa will find out just how difficult it is to in the CL and PL at the same time. Spurs will be playing two games a week , should mean players will keep the game energy in them.
Ange's appreciation of the fans (his team and opponents) is genuine and there is a real affection for him from most Aussies, he is immune from the usual "tall poppy" treatment. His exasperation with the Soccer authorities in Australia is a view shared by the vast majority of fans who see the efforts of the other football codes and can only dream that one day they'll get their act together.
Bloody hell, Ali! 🤣You deserve a medal mate. I suppose you'll be joining up with Ange, holidaying in Greece...
🤣🤣😂😂
He'll be on the sunbed next to ange 😆
Rubbing sunscreen on his back
20 paces.
Ali.....warrior of Tottenham we so do not deserve!!!!!!
Hi Ali, Leeds fan here who's better half is Spurs. The Ange double take in the presser was just lovely. Well worth the jet lag!
I was at the game, it was fantastic, so good to see Spurs play. Very proud Australian of Ange, was over the moon to hear he was the new manager. Thanks for the background news Ali.

Dedication of the highest order Ali. I flew into Melbourne to watch the British and Irish Lions in 2013 and I was knackered and I was in the country for another 2 weeks!
One of the most important of Son's positive qualities is loyality. Unlike some others.

Excellent video as always. Actually saw you at the open training session but you were furiously typing away and thought you best be left to it!
Should have said hello. I'm always furiously typing anyway.
He was far happier to see you than he was to see Tony Jones. Or Chompers as we call him.
Gotta respect the dedication yourself and guys like chris cowlin have,it's people like you that deserve success as much as the player's and staff 👏
Welcome back, Ali. That Ange reaction was priceless, it made me laugh out loud.

So close to 4th if we had turned up for a few more games love to hear Ange comment on that
Hi Alasdair another great vlog as always very interesting and informative thanks for all your hard work take care stay safe PS get some kip
Hey Sir Gold, thank you for keeping us sane this past season. Your analysis of all things Spurs has helped to grow confidence in all that's happening at the club. Thank you. I am glad to hear that there is a push back on Hudson. Wasn't too glad when I first heard of the association.
Great work as usual Ali 👏👏👏
Thank You!
Hey Ali! Thought Id let you know that Eddie How thought it would be a good idea to field a youth team here tonight in Melbourne against the A League All Stars. Didnt turn out well for Newcastle. A League All Stars 8 Newcastle 0
Loved that, Ali. Thank you.
So many lows and some occasional highs supporting spurs but we can all count on Ali to be there with us for the journey 🍻
Thanks Alasdair. Excited to see what the transfer window holds. Hope we keep Ben Davies, versatile and a leader.
Great vid as allways! Roony Bardghji is out with a knee injury for the next 9-12 months, so I doubt they look at him for a transfer this summer.
Mate…..your commitment is unquestionable! Sleep well Alasdair.😊
Good on you Ally, keep up the great work.
Thanks for another great video Al👍
Cheers Ali, and not forgetting the sacrifices your wife makes as well 💝💞.
