Thanks for doing the tribute to Joe Kinnear, Ally. Joe was a fixture in our side for the best part of a decade. A swashbuckling attacking right back. Was deemed man of the match in the ‘67 FA Cup Final despite being the youngest player on the pitch. Played in that final only because Phil Beal was injured. But a great servant of the club. May he RIP.
Watching with gritted teeth and will add to my growing grey hair strangely I think Newcastle and Liverpool away the hardest with city at home I rate us and Arsenal it’s a derby the players will be up for it
Timo is a player that I've wanted at Spurs since BEFORE he was at Chelsea. He is a player who provides directness on that left hand side. He puts pressure on the defense on each and every attack.
Micky van de Ven's goal must be one of the hardest and fastest travelling balls I've ever seen. Played it back a few times and it's like it's rocket propelled. Wonder how fast that ball was going when it hit the net.
As a non-Spurs fan I think Werner is 100% a goer as a squad player (just a couple seasons ago Spurs were salivating for Adama Traore who is +- same kind of player for more money but less goal involvements!) as his effort and directness affect games. you just need 'classier' wingers ahead of him and Johnson (great potential still developing) who can pin defenders back, score and assist more regularly. It doesn't have to be an either/or IMO
Since Poch’s last full season, Spurs have gone 59, 62, 71 and 60 pt seasons with prime Harry Kane. Ange getting this squad with all the injuries to where he has is nothing short of remarkable. Where would Ars be if they’d had long term injuries to Saliba Gabriel Rice Odegaard, their equivalent to Romero, VdV, Bentancur and Maddison….not to mention Son going away for 6 weeks.
Many fans are simple folks. They want exciting new presents for Christmas, Werner isn't exciting and new. But to my mind, he's been excellent for Spurs and I think he's only going to get better. Sign him!
That game reminded me how much I love LOLO AND Pierre to be fair. Just love watching Rodrigo play ! What a player! I think he’s the perfect 6 everyone want to be honest
I think Hojbjerg gives so much in midfield (different to the others) not dynamic but does what is required. I seriously worry we’re gonna miss him if he leaves at the end of the season.
In Angie’s system a winger’s role is not to kick loads of goals but to feed low crosses across the face of the goal and Werner is doing exactly what is expected of him and should be rewarded with a contract. On a separate note it is great to finally see some long range shots versus the low block. Funny though that everyone seems to be taking long shots except our best long shot taker! Son really needs to start demanding the ball more and looking to score, even if it means being more selfish. Also needs to be taking our free kicks in scoring areas. Good to see a bit more speed in counter attacking although really need to find our best leaders who do well in free flowing situations (Sonny, Madisson, etc) to direct traffic.
Ange's remit was to change the football we play TICK NO one though we would be 5th let alone 4th and I don't really care if we finish 6th from here, the question is have Spurs improved and the answer is even if we lose every game from here in is YES
Lose the remaining games will be highly embarrassing considering how poor we have already been this season since the Chelsea game !! And that you call improvement!!
Thanks for the video Alasdair. Personally, I did think that Bentancur meant for that header to go towards Porro. Hojbjerg, along with Bentancur, really changed the nature of the game on Sunday and it will be a shame to lose him in the summer as seems likely. Up front, at the moment Werner has to start ahead of Kulusevski who frankly was dreadful when he came on as a substitute. It was a particularly disappointing display as he was on the left side and I expected him to go on lots of runs, but he barely went forward. I cannot wait to see Werner against Chelsea where he surely has a point to prove and will hopefully bag a goal or two.
At the time I thought it was interesting that Kulusevski was so off the pace. I thought he was playing for himself not the team it will be interesting to watch what Ange does with him in the next few games.
I appreciate that he isn't everyone's cup of tea. Though shout out to Hoijberg. He settled things down. Passing isnt the best in a high pressing/intensity side. However, he has a cool head and works extremely hard in the midfield. Him and Rodrigo certainly calmed things down and we were back in control.

Love your content Ali, it's like I get to listen to all the naunces and details that I would never know about the club without your behind the scenes insight
Please bear with me but regarding Ange's comments about the tactical details I can't help but think of comparisons with the film Poor Things and Spurs this season: the mad scientist Ange has installed a brand new footballing brain into a multi-million pound squad of fully-fledged internationals. As a result, Spurs have awkwardly stumbled around like a toddler as they learn how to play football again. They have been a bewildering, raw and chaotic watch this season, and the decent results have masked the fact that this is a team in its infancy in a more fundamental way than we may have realized. The prospect of what they can achieve as they come of age is extremely exciting.
Thanks for such an informative video, Alasdair. Helpful analysis of Bissouma-I was a bit perplexed about it. Have become a Werner fan and will be sad to see Hojberg leave. What a spectacular high for Van de Ven. He’s a delight! Wishing you good weather at the Newcastle match!

I love it when an opposition player is running after the ball & Micky breezes past them, any other player the continue the chase, like Saturday, the player gives it up, it's like they said to themselves, "what's the point". Beautiful.
Cheers Ali!! Fantastic video breaking down another interesting match. I really value your honest but not overly critical or reactionary style of journalism and reporting. Have an outstanding week!
Great insight as always, very interesting with regard to Ange fine tuning tactics when the basics become second nature, makes sense, we all need to have some patience. Thanks Ali
Thanks Alasdair. Every obstacle or challenge that is possible has hit us this year,: losing Kane, injuries, new coach, new keeper, new captain, new tactics etc etc and so it is remarkable we are in this position. With the exception of the top three (all of which have considerably outspent us and have had the same managers and tactics for years) all the other clubs are moaning about their performances. So we are doing very well and need to appreciate that more. (BTW if Man City win their CL quarter final there is a real problem looming for our match against them as they will have no weekend or mid-week slot between now and the end of the season).
It was nice to see a nice exchange between Nuno and Son, Son was the only player who put in a shift in every game he played for Nuno, while others thought he was beneath them
It seemed like Bissouma had license going forward and participated building up the attack more than previous few games that he was pretty good at protecting two CBs. I think I understand a little bit why Ange doesn’t want to define his players as 6 or 8. Maybe that’s why Ange wants high-energy CM like Ederson or Gallagher to rotate.
Do u think our fan base is particularly toxic or is it a reflection on society ? I say that because of the hate for Nuno out there this wknd when I don’t remember him actually doing anything bad to us and seems like a nice fella , just another in a long line of hate figures - winks, dier , peh, richy, Davies, Emerson , and so on and on and on.. all these people give/gave their best .. the only one I understand in ndombele because of his attitude. I hate it when our fans choose the next person to rip apart just because we have someone better than them. Criticise performances by all means but we always move to shaming and belittling people about who they are. Makes me sad
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾💯💯💯💯 Sadly, I think it's a societal thing as I see other fan bases doing the same thing. Social media is a toxic place as it affords anonymity for cowards to express their private thoughts without danger of recourse.
Yeah I think Ali Gold was saying on another video people were messaging Sessengon when he got injured again and were having a go at him. Obviously he's not had the best time at Spurs but, as you say, apart from players like Ndomblele who obviously dont care, it's harsh to have a go at players
I can see if Timu keeps drilling those crosses, the defenders will stop trying to block the shots/crosses if they keep going into the back of the net, they'll let it run through and try to defend that.
I was walking along Park Lane to get to the east atrium 3hr before kick off (where its not uncommon to see slinky sports cars with chauffeurs and deep tinted windows slipping into the players car park entry) when all of a sudden Timo came screaming round the corner from Worchester Rd in his Mercedes 4wd. Window down, elbow out, smiling and waving to the fans milling around. Speaking as somebody with a German ex-wife I never thought I’d warm to him… however… big up Timo. You’re doing great, keep it up and you’ll reverse 15yrs of conscious bias 😂
Everyone likes to find a bargain at a garage sale or thrift store. Think of Timo that way. Someone else's trash can be your treasure. (Just love the way Rory Jennings goes on about him).
Glad to hear hojbjerg getting some credit. I would really like to see him stay because he is clearly listening to Ange and developing his game. His energy is good and the Conte in him is finally getting forgotten. Peh has a lot more to offer spurs and I think Ange is doing what Ange does, developing players by encouraging bravery on the ball
Ali--thanks for the video as always! Went to my first match yesterday, unreal stadium experience and match day. So happy we got the win. van de ven is an absolute top class unit, our section was in awe of this lad. My question for you: do we still 100% think that hojbjerg will be sold this summer? Apologies if you address this in the video but i wanted to post my question right away! COYS
Y’know, looking at how difficult the run in is with facing all of the top 3 and choppy schedule and all… and I’m actually really looking forward to it. Ange loves adversity and hates complacency. Real Aussie battler mentality. It’s when people say any game should be easy or that Spurs are expected to win that I get nervous. I was really happy when Ange said he wanted players who knew that they had to fight for everything coz nothing comes easy at this club. Again that Aussie battler mentality which is so typically Ange. C’mon Spurs! C’mon!
Ali, thank you and well done for always asking useful questions in press conferences. Annoys me when journos ask questions Ange has repeatedly dodged/refused to answer on previous occasions, for example his "targets" for the season
I’m so glad I found your channel(this and with Gold). You are one of the few who get Ange. I appreciate you actually did your research on Ange and understand his philosophy. I also love the interactions with Ange because as a long time fan (Roar days) he clearly respects you. That’s everything with the guy.
Agree. Am I "naive" supposedly like Ange, plain stupid or a dreamer? I'm not a true blue soccer or Spurs supporter. I can't work out the panic, hysteria and doubts about Spurs against the current top 3, none of whom have beaten Spurs! Seems like pommie supporters get hysterical win or lose. Mark my words, Ange will explode at a presser soon if a moron asks a stupid question. Time to get down to business and cage the idiots at pressers!
Hey Alasdair, outwardly Ange may not be bothered about Top 4 but you can bet he’d love to test his team against the cream of Europe next season. Great content as always.😊
Thanks Ali, another really good video. Love the fact that you called Ange "Nuno" and he just brushed it off. I am really excited for next season with Bergvall coming in at the position number 8. Also it was really nice to see Dane Scarlett get some minutes at the end of the Forest match. Dane and Troy Parrott are favourite strikers of mine and with Kane in the team you could understand why they did not get many minutes. Will they both come back next season and fight for a place in the starting line up. Next season hoping for some cup runs and they could be used in those games.
Absolutely love Ange and hope he’s here for years. I like that he’s hyper aware of the problems and how the fans feel about playing for 4th. I really think we need to see some good results against the top 3 to finish this season on a high though. This is a big litmus test for Ange and this team to prove we’re not just the same old Spurs.
Great video again 👍🏼 I have a season ticket in the north stand and it's a lot quieter there than the south. A lot of fans there don't like the constant standing in the south so you'll find there's a lot more older fans in the north. Werner definitely got the standing ovation in the north and a lot of fans are starting to warm to him.. 15/16m is an absolute steal in my opinion. The next 4 games are going to be tough but we didn't lose one of them in the previous fixtures this season so we need to take that confidence into these games!! 💙🤍
The only thing I think holding Spurs back from pulling the trigger on Werner is the wages he would expect. If we could get shot of the high paid players that are out on loan, that would help free up funds.
That would have already been discussed when agreeing the initial loan move. There would already be an agreement in place for the salary if the parties agree to make the move permanent
Ali, Many Thanks for the continuing update. Really enjoy them. What are your thoughts around the trumpeter at the start of the game, been meaning to ask how you see this from where you are in the stadium and what the reaction is from the press box. From the North Stand, it sounds great and really sets up the crowd and the players for the game start.
Comfortable victory and happily early this time. I feel Micky Van De Ven must be a top 3 CB this season. I also learned today that the team that is most fouled this season is Tottenham Hotspur. There is a new stat for you, maybe 👍
G'day Alasdair, love your channel mostly because you're cool, calm and collected, as well as respectful of Ange and the team, no emotional histrionics like many of your immature, sensationalistic, moronic, competing "pundits". On that happy note, will you and your good lady grace Australia with your presence when Ange takes the lads to Oz as the Grand Finale of this season? If you do, have a fun trip.
I love the mentality of not being bothered about the league but let’s not lose the rivalry with the Woolwich bunch. I’d give up UCL if it meant that we trip them up before the finish line 🤞🏼
VDV, even above the likes of Chelsea's Cole Palmer, has gotta be singning of the summer for me I mean what a find, an absolute gem of a player & destined to become a world-class talent at Tottenham Hotspur FC COME ON YOU SPURS ! 🤍
Micky gets plenty of praise but frankly one thing he might deserve a bit more commendation for is that he came back from a hamstring injury with a mentality just as strong as when he left. Not every player would be fighting as hard and running as fast after getting a particularly painful injury like that.
Couple of quick questions for the Q&A if you are doing one Ali. 1) Who should be the next James Bond? 2) What film are you looking forward to seeing most this year? 3) I know they get the odd mention every now and then but any chance of a women’s round up more often next season (as this one is nearly done) possibly alongside the loan roundup in the second video of the week? Just to cover everything to do with Tottenham Hotspur.
On Biss, While his performance dipped as the game wore on, I think he deserves some credit. He seems to be the only one that got the memo for the team to shoot more. True, most of his shots didn't really trouble as much, it gave the defense something eelse to think about. They know that if the low block wouldn't allow playing through someone will try to shoot. Sidenote: Anyone noticed that Madders best games have been when Biss is in form? Madders has been great no doubt. But I seem to see the fanbase giving him some more patience to return to form than we do Bissouma. Maybe it's because of his position as any mistake most often leads to chances conceded. Or maybe I'm just being a Biss fan boy.😅
Question for the Q&A: Bergvall, Devine and Donley, what do you think will be the first team dynamic for those three? Will they go out on loan? Maybe first team squad players with regular minutes?
Thanks Mr. Gold. Spot on as always. What more exciting for me is that this video seem to place the 3+ yr AGold v. Nuno drama to its final, peaceful resting place… 😊
Hello Ali Gold! Great video as always! Just been too busy to leave comments and mostly praises for your previous ones. I would love to spend some time watching your other channel as I love movies too. However, I barely got enough time for this one as I am fighting my way back to Europe/the UK. So I will turn to it hopefully in the not too distant future. I am sure you will only do better in both channels. Thumbs up and COYS!
Question - Are there any plans to relay the pitch this summer - we have noticed a lot of players slipping this season? Thanks for the weekly (and occasionally twice weekly) videos
Hi Ali, it was comedy GOLD when you called Ange Nuno - I always look forward to hearing our Ali speak up in the conference videos and felt the embarrassment as you did it considering listen to your videos every week and root for you to ask good questions😂
Great assessment of the game, individual players and overall Spurs situation Ali. I'm with you on Werner, don't understand those that knock him. I compared Mickey to Super Jan during the, he is going to be something really special. You have a long trip ahead of you this weekend, if we can maintain tje same form it'll be worth it. COYS!
Late comment from Scandinavia on Joe Kinnear.. He and Cyril Knowles are two really good full backs who might have got into the double team. Bit of a surprise when he establishd himself for Spurs and Eire. Deserves to be remembered as major contributor to the Spurs team of his era.
As always Alasdair a great video. I was there on Sunday and Micky van de Ven was outstanding as he has been all season. For me he gets my vote as Spurs player of the season. At only 22 years old and providing he can stay injury free, he should only get better and better. Of course I hope he builds his career and stays at Spurs, but as we know when a players starts to show signs of becoming world class, bigger clubs start sniffing around to buy. Alasdair, do you agree with me that Micky could become the first 100 million pound defender?
Another absolutely fantastic podcast Mr Nuno sorry Mr G Love the natural quips & accents that come out when stories are being explained keep up the excellent work Mr Nuno sorry Mr G 👏👏👏 COYS !
i will try again what are your thoughts if defending a corner you place 3 forwards in the centre circle 2 midfield halfway and defend with 5 players would this cause panic in the opposition team
I’d echo that this is the most disappointed I’ve seen players with finishing top 4 (watching since 2017), and that’s a good thing. We need to be aiming for the top every year, and we have the quality plus a few more pieces.
An average day in the life of a Spurs reporter would give us all an interesting insight into your work & and life Alistair? Travelling, interactions with supporters, food on the go, mixing with other reporters, and what does your work entail? Always enjoy your videos!!
Fresh from the gold and guest podcast, can't wait for Bissbjerg transfer watch 24. The club needs to back the manager to pick up this exciting dual national talent in the summer.
Really love that story about Nuno. Although he was never the right guy for spurs as a club, he seemed like such a decent man, but a bit of a deer in the headlights. Similar story for Potter and Chelsea. Nuno has spoken with nothing but respect for the club and I wish him all the best.
The benta and hojbjerg performace gave me peak conte vibes where we felt like they were the best double pivot in the league for 6 months

Tough run in now. Let’s hope we get top 4 now and stop Arsenal winning the league at the same time
its always the same ,every year , the spurs game is the clincher. this time we could mess up all three teams.
Too nervous to watch the next lot of fixtures 🙈 just hope we do keep winning 🎉
Beat Arsenal n let liverpool win our game.. that would be a laugh.. hahahahahah

Love the way Ange is changing the mentality and culture with the players at Spurs. You can't do something unless you start thinking it first.
If someone said in January that our most effective forwards would be Johnson and Werner I would’ve laughed but they’ve really stepped up

He does. But not often enough.

👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾💯💯💯💯
Sadly, I think it's a societal thing as I see other fan bases doing the same thing.
Bale's loan was special too ❤️
It was but it was a longer one.
Thanks for these updates, Nuno
It's Rob Guest mate
Subculture mate we,ve already played the top three and won 1 and drew the other 2 .There’s no reason why we can’t win them.COYS.
Yep, it’s the fearless lower placed teams we have trouble with.
I think we look more solid with hojberg
Mickey is awesome and what I love is his attitude not just his skills.
Hey Alasdair, outwardly Ange may not be bothered about Top 4 but you can bet he’d love to test his team against the cream of Europe next season. Great content as always.😊
AG, top work as usual. I love your football videos and watch them all.
Great video again 👍🏼
I have a season ticket in the north stand and it's a lot quieter there than the south.
Ange saying, "get your words out, mate: 😂
No football on tonight so was hoping a new video would come. Thank you Sir Ally Gold!
I love the mentality of not being bothered about the league but let’s not lose the rivalry with the Woolwich bunch. I’d give up UCL if it meant that we trip them up before the finish line 🤞🏼
VDV, even above the likes of Chelsea's Cole Palmer, has gotta be singning of the summer for me
I mean what a find, an absolute gem of a player & destined to become a world-class talent at Tottenham Hotspur FC
COME ON YOU SPURS !
Question for the Q&A:
Bergvall, Devine and Donley, what do you think will be the first team dynamic for those three? Will they go out on loan? Maybe first team squad players with regular minutes?
We have scored more goals then last season with Harry kane in the team and we have had only one penalty all season
Micky will go right to the top!
Thanks Mr. Gold. Spot on as always. What more exciting for me is that this video seem to place the 3+ yr AGold v. Nuno drama to its final, peaceful resting place… 😊
Great video as always Ali
Let’s not forget that Conte said for Spurs, finishing in the top 4 is like winning a trophy
I have thankfully forgotten everything cunte said
Hello Ali Gold!
Thanks for the usual top video, Ali.
Question - Are there any plans to relay the pitch this summer - we have noticed a lot of players slipping this season? Thanks for the weekly (and occasionally twice weekly) videos
Well done Nuno, sorry Ali! 😂😂 I’ve been waiting to write that for days 😂 love it Ali, shows you’re human mate!!
Q: How much prep do you do for each of your videos?
As always Alasdair a great video. I was there on Sunday and Micky van de Ven was outstanding as he has been all season. For me he gets my vote as Spurs player of the season. At only 22 years old and providing he can stay injury free, he should only get better and better. Of course I hope he builds his career and stays at Spurs, but as we know when a players starts to show signs of becoming world class, bigger clubs start sniffing around to buy. Alasdair, do you agree with me that Micky could become the first 100 million pound defender?
Thanks Alasdair COYS
Another absolutely fantastic podcast Mr Nuno sorry Mr G
Love the natural quips & accents that come out when stories are being explained keep up the excellent work Mr Nuno sorry Mr G 👏👏👏
COYS !
Class again!
i will try again what are your thoughts if defending a corner you place 3 forwards in the centre circle 2 midfield halfway and defend with 5 players would this cause panic in the opposition team
