The main thing that would put me off the lightweight option is definitely the colour. Green or brown was definitely a must for what we do.
Yeah definitely in the woods you want darker colours I'd say Steve but up on the mountains and such I don't mind bright colours. Hope your well pal
Well I'm kinda short on cash so I'd be going with the original and in summer leaving the inner open and the door at the top which will work until you get issues with midgies or mossies. If I was looking to do some backpacking in summer and I had the cash I'd go for the ultra light. For now I'm quite happy with the original bobcat.
Yeah there's nothing wrong with either Ben, I'm loving the freedom the UL version gives me especially now I'm getting get to suit an ultra-light camp but yeah man just save up.
@@AntSurviveTheNight Thanks mate. Yeah having a nice portable ultra light set up is definitely a dream. I'm working on it and it'll get there eventually. :-)
The original Bobcat probably wins for me. The UL is well light but the lack of scorching days in the UK kinda rules out. Mind you, can you use the original inner with the UL outer for colder nights 🤔

Sorry Ant, but I am with @conny79 on this one. The OG Bobcat is such a great little tent that you can use all year round by leaving the front door open a tad if it's hot but that doesn't happen too often. It's only a couple of tinnies heavier and a fraction of the cost of the blue tissue one😂. Which is important. Great top trumps Leon,you had the best back of cards there. All the best lads. What's the best system for tying up your guy lines ready for the next camp.

I have both these tents .
And have only used the ul blue one so far .for a multi day hike .
Its nice but wow is it small inside .same for both really but due to the mesh it feels bigger inside than the green one .
I also really like the blue colour .
Blue one takes the win for me u just cant argue with sub 1 kg weight . Its my lightest tent by a long way .

@@nm0519 never been in one, would like to try to see what its like. A lot heavier i believe. The bobcat is the best tent i have got, just wished they made a 2 man or a 1.5
@@Conny79 it's not that heavy.But it's really strong and really waterproof with 5000 hh But if you're over 6ft don't bother.

I've never understood hot tents in the UK for three days/weekends a year. I feel the same about summer tents, three days/weekends a year.
Aww!! I love you too Si. I love my hot tent, they are great on multi day paddles. When we used it up Scotland a couple of Easters back it was so welcome after a wet day of fishing and a chill.
@@AntSurviveTheNight I get hot tents on a multi day paddle in Scotland, but most I see on YT are overnighters...but then I'm hot like George Clooney before going to Specsavers so camping with me is by far enough.

It's the original for me... not so sure about the tarp though.. the original tarp is heavy & bulky ..
Yeah your definitely taking a 3kg plus tent with you when you take it all out but you do get that added extension, like another room, when you add the tarp
@@AntSurviveTheNight haven't used the new tarp yet!!. But on paper it seems a lot lighter.... So original tent, but new tarp ...Its the set up I would probably go for. Take care out there.

I would go for a different tent altogether. Why buy such a tent then add a tarp to the system. Get the correct tent for what you it for

Hi John, there's not many tents out there at this weight even with tge tarp added that you can sit under with a chair. I took this system out at the weekend in wind and the tarp allowed me to sit out in comfort, cook and not be disturbing one bit. Thanks mate for the watch.
I would use 1 for winter and the other for summer so I make it a draw
