Thank you @emily_bowie. That parallel compression could be a game changer for me. I've never been happy with the bass in my mixes. Tried it out with a Fairchild plugin just now and it does seem to provide better presence even at low volumes.

This was great! Looking forward to trying out some of this.

Nice vid, I have a question. Why did you put the Parallel sends in Mono instead of stereo? Any benefits to this vs STEREO?

The Bass + parallel instead of just Bass sub is a great idea. I'll just have to swap the Kit plugin, I have the rest :)

Missing the sound in the context at the end! But in general good.

I'm a bit confused about the r-bass section. Even when the plugin was bypassed, the bass part sounded completely different and more low end heavy than all the other channels. What's happening there? (I'm a logic user, not a pro-tools user so sorry if its obvious) Cheers.

      Hi there,
I’m not sure I fully understand the question. You think the bass sounds lower without the Rbass plugin? It gets really weighted with the Rbass. I have that set at 45Hz.

@@emily_bowie Hi! No I don't mean that, I can hear the low end extension when the Rbass is on compared to bypassed. What I'm saying is at 10:50 even when the Rbass is bypassed, the bass has a completely different tone to other part of the video, 7:55 and I'm wondering what is causing that?

You know what, I think the bass player just goes down an octave and plays a different part! I was just thrown off because the register had suddenly changed exactly as the rbass was being demonstrated.

Just a different section of the song to demonstrate the two different techniques. As I say, you would chose one of them for different reasons.
