Also check out justin in the description! More videos soon
Maybe I will :D
I’m definitely getting some 🔥
hi sipover
Ryan thanks for posting this video because I am planning my first ever mountain climbing trip and this was a climb I wanted to do ( I have a bit of experience)
Ryan, can you re-attempt Mt. chimborazo?🥺
Hey Ryan, I've been following your journey since your Everest summit, and I’m the same age as you. I used to struggle with finding hobbies I could truly stick to and pursue. But in the past few months, I've started climbing local mountains here in Vancouver, BC. I just wanted to thank you for shedding light on the world of mountaineering-it’s been incredibly inspiring and has really helped me find a passion. Keep doing what you’re doing!
this is so sick
This is awesome. Keep it up and keep living life man!
Be proud👍🏻
Awesome keep it up. 🇨🇦
Your comment is so great! We all have to find meaning and purpose in our lives - and maybe this is yours! Maybe next you will become interested in working to protect rivers, wilderness areas- meaning this interest can become so much more!
this is seriously one of the coolest channels i’ve seen on yt. took me like a week to finish the everest video and to think that i watched sipover a couple years ago too, you’re truly awesome man
Thanks a ton i appreciate that :)
“If he dies I’m cooked” is crazy Lmaoo btw Justin seems like a cool guy. Should continue doin even more climbs with him!
Yeah I totally agree. Love his personality
Man I’ve done st Helen’s from both routes, and pretty much all of the cascade volcanos, but THIS… man this takes major balls, and is in a league of its own. Hugely stoked for you two. You may have just created the hardest route in the Cascades Volcanos.
Even though you bailed, still a huge accomplishment.
For those who don’t get how crumbly it is, if you stand on the true summit, you can basically hear a continuous rumble of landslides and avalanches. INSANE level of grit here.
Or dumb attention seeking
@@cm6534YOU SMELL BAD (just joshing)
I’ve also done Helen’s. Can confirm. This is sort of insane, I’ve heard of people doing it. Never met anyone who’s actually tried it
After watching the whole thing. This is actually brutal. can’t believe they made it that far
The best mountaineers know when to call it off. very good job guys ! keep safe
When I was younger I went up with my dad and grandpa and let me tell you it's no joke you take 5 steps up and slide down 3 steps. I couldn't finish but the views of the pnw from there are breathtaking
Excellent choice turning back and not doing the rest. You guys still killed it either way! Great video, keep up the great work man!
Always a good day seeing an upload, The videos with justin are always good to see. :)
Babe wake up, Ryan Mitchell posted a new video
lol😂
So true
🙂
😂😂😂 awake 😂😂😂
cringe
what am i even watching?
i've seen first responders push headstrong into danger, heard tales of adversity and bravery beyond imagination.
yet, the two of you dancing along crumbling dirt reaching 8-thousand feet skyward just might be the most insane spectacles i've ever witnessed.
incredible skill and courage.
instant subscribe.
Summitted via the standard route on 8/15. Seeing the scree fields again brought a shiver down my spine. Climb on brother!
Epic! My muscles were burning from watching you two! Glad you’re safe!
My stomach is in knots watching this. So scary! So loose! Glad you are safe!
Every time I watch your videos I got goosebumps....You're such an inspiration....Support from Italy
Wow, that takes the words chossy, loose, friable, unsafe rock to a whole new level!
Mother nature really blasted that place, incredible!
Wow… solid fractured rock everywhere. Proper decision was made. Great video work.
Best video I’ve watched in a long time - really helps to see the scale of what happens back in the 80’s- 3000ft of elevation gone in seconds - chapeau gents , Chapeau 👊👊
I always look forwards to your climbs this one was definitely unexpected and awesome
I lived 3 hours from there, and when she blew, it snowed down ash like you wouldn't believe! And the day turned to night it was wild! I was 7, and I remember running in my house to tell my mom it was snowing out! She said it's May. What are you talking about? lol.
Yes I remember :(
To be fair, it's snowed in may plenty of times up here. PNW is an interesting place.
Extraordinarily entertainIng. In the spirit of the computer language C++ I would rate this climb SKETCHY++.
You are amazing dude. You go above and beyond! You will have millions of followers in no time 👍
Nice climb bro, Mt st helens is what usually introduces people to mountaineering but not for you!
Did the rim traverse as a 3 day ski tour a few years ago for Christmas vacay, was totally spectacular with some spicy alpine ice climbing, seeing the crater from all vantage points was so epic. This video makes me wanna do it next summer to see it without snow. Cheers bro
Hooked me from your great Everest journey. Appreciate the filmmaking and the informative commentary. Really look forward to your uploads now.
Safe travels man!
From Monrovia, CA.
That was freaking insane. I'm at a loss for words. I'm glad you guys finally realized how insane what you were doing was and aborted the mission.
To say thats the craziest climb youve done on the channel while having summited everest defenitely says something.. This video had me up on my toes the whole way.. what an adventure oh my! Bailing doesnt even feel like bailing if you actually went to the limit.. it only makes sense! Well done!
Wow!! Came across this by accident. By far the best video I've ever seen on hikes up the crater rim. Thanks guys. Awesome!
You and Justin are such a good duo, y’all inspired me to climb Humphries Peak in Flagstaff, my first 10000’+ mountain
Congrats!!
Great practice for House's Chimney. Also good experience of turning back rather than risking too much!
Thanks Ryan, I really enjoyed this. I’m glad you made good decisions and made it home safe.
What a treat this morning, Ryan posted a new video! Hands down the best videos on climbing.
Great video. St Helens is a metal mountain. I've summited, but I never knew it was this difficult to traverse.
This is my favorite hike in Washington (not the traverse, just the standard monitor ridge climb with the easy traverse to the summit), it never gets old.
Will never miss a Ryan Mitchell video
My new favourite RUclipsr/Adventurer. Best videos.
I love how the week after this traverse there was an article published about how dangerous the Crater Rim is at the moment
Adding, your Everest descent was so amazing I watched it twice. The kumba ice field Ladder leaps were totally crazy!!
Very amazing trek. Thankyou for your efforts and sharing this.
My gosh seems like the whole mountain got shaken to bits when the volcano erupted! Heard so many stories from my parents who live in eastern WA about the ash that basically covered the whole state after it went off, thanks for taking the risk to see it up close so I don't have to lol!
44:20 the ridge has a big vein of Quartz which means a very likely place you will find Gold. Love Love Love ur channel. This is the best hiking. Good job Ryan
Great job!! My lord! Thank you for showing why I’ll never do this traverse.
Whoa. I never guessed it would be that hard to traverse. Awesome views inside the crater.
Love the videos, You've inspired me to start my mountaineering journey!
Zero risk of becoming a classic route 😂
COME ON this has got to get on all trails
@@RyanMitchellYT hahaha - “easy walk”
@@RyanMitchellYTdog friendly
Good job, guys. I enjoyed it and brought back some awesome memories.
i absolutely love watching your climbing videos and im looking forward to seeing K2 next year!
Great to see this w out snow. I snowmobile that whole area and to see it bare is awesome. Plus that's the biggest goat herd we ever has on st helens. I think right before covid they were only counting around 8 goats. Good job boys
The sound of the wind honestly was terrifying by its self lol and the loose rock like sheesh, god really was on yall's side - glad you guys got off safely!
You've gone on some crazy climbs before obviously, but the geology of this one is just so cool, the aftermath of a pretty recent explosive eruption like this and how it affected both the mountain and the area around it is super cool to see. Also neat to see the areas where life is coming/came back!! Earth's pretty neat :)
I've always been fascinated with this mountain. Thank you for documenting this so well so I don't have to climb it. :D That goes for Everest too. You saved me a LOT of money... and probably my life.
You can totally climb this mountain! This traverse is ridiculous and I have zero desire to attempt it. The standard route is easy enough and is not technical at all. Especially of you do it late in the season, when the cornice is gone. At that point, it’s just a hike with an awesome view.
@@Tacoking8891I was guessing the same thing too, I’d just go up to tag the summit and then double back from where I came. Being a solo hiker, the chossy crater ridge traverse looks like I’d be signing my death warrant
@ yeah, there are also around 100 people a day plus a couple of national monument employees around during the climbing season. It’s a strenuous hike, trekking poles are extremely helpful.
@@Tacoking8891 I gotta good set of poles. I’m getting used to the western peaks. I mostly climbed and hiked in the White Mountains of NH. The altitude kicks my ass though, so I’m trying to train for that
Super talented hiker! Wish I could do what you do.
Looks like a bone shattering fun time.
However it's good that you guys made the right call to end the day early rather than attempt th3 summit. I can't imagine how you guys would get back down with fading light let alone rain.
Nice traverse of an iconic peak! Good work through that sketchy rock!
Good job Ryan! Glad you got as far as you did safely! I would still consider it an accomplishment and awesome adventure 😊
Wait a min....youve already done some huge climbs after Everest! What a machine! My man is addicted
Wow big fan, never miss your new videos. Best Mount Saint Helens climb video ever posted.
Man! I thought your trip through Khumbu Icefall was sketchy. Seeing your grab onto those loose rocks hoping they don't give way was nuts. Good call cutting the trip short. Look forward to more of you adventures. Something I can't or ever will be able to do. Managed to overcome learning to walk again, and I'm happy to just walk simple trails under my own foot power. There are lots of things I'd love to do. I'll leave that to people like you.
Well done on re-learning to walk, huge accomplishment 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
@@embunchofnumbers Thank you. yes it was. Doctors were telling me I prob wouldn't be able to walk again. That lit a fire under my butt, and I started pushing through the pain to do it. At first even bending to put shoes on was a thing. just short walks to the corner and back. Eventually did it a few times a day. Now, I can hike. Flat trails are best. I need a cane as my one leg will give out. (kind of like all of a sudden, it is not there) Thankfully doesn't happen often now. I have to focus to make the muscles tighten around the knee to step up / down. the cane helps. Was thinking of trekking poles, but not sure I could count on them for support the way I can with my cane. It's lightweight and folds up.
Les goooooo🎉🎉🎉🎉 love from India bruv I'll be sumiting it next year
Another excellent climb... tho not for the faint of heart! Watching you try and find solid footing and hand holds made me so nervous. I'm glad you were able to do what you did... and was glad when you guys decided to descend. I'll look forward to your next adventure. Thanks for the vid! 😊
Just stumbled across this channel. This video is great! I remember when Mt St. Helens blew. In 2019, I went to MSHs. I didn’t do any hiking like the two of you but it was an incredible place to visit. Maybe someday I will have the opportunity to do some hiking in the area. The scenery is incredible! I look forward to viewing more of your videos.
Love you Ryan Mitchell❤❤❤🏰‼️
Amazing climb, don't feel bad for not getting all the way around. That was a good call on your part. Live to fight another day!
Amazing adventure
Glad for the recommendations for once
Thanks (I think) Ryan. Whew!! I had to look away a few times.
he’s a beauty this channel is just vibes, hikes and watching bros progression helllla tuff🌅
One of the biggest eruptions in modern history... great content brothers massive respect we would love to do this
Another cracking vid.. great stuff!
This is the best hiking channel rn. I feel like im part of it
Thanks for taking me on the adventure remotely, maybe I can join you on some climbs in the next life...
And as always your videos are awesome broski!
Definitely a lot of sketchy footing up there... holy crap. Just watching made my butt pucker. Thanks for sharing!
great climb - wayyyyy sketchy! smart move to go down...like you said...live to fight another day!
Thanks for taking us with you, the views were the most spectacular so far on your climbs, and the scariest; my heart was in my throat several times watching you both negotiate some of that terrain!!!😂😮
Nice work Ryan and Justin!!👍
Wise move turning back. Always know when to call it off.
I ran the Bigfoot 40 around St. Helens in early August.
I remember coming down from Windy Pass through the plains of Abraham, then downhill to the Ape Canyon Trailhead (where you started). There was a serious lack of water, like you said.
I live about a hour from here. That is a crazy climb. But awesome to watch you guys do it 😎
Good morning king 🤩 the character upgrades are real hahaha your amazing
Im 12 years old and i like to climb mountains and i just climbed a 200 tall moutain and i like yuor videos🎉
Wow Ryan, your a beast. I remember when it erupted and the sky went very red a few days later in Massachusetts
The name "Plains of Abraham" goes crazy. biblical to the max
I’ve done the Worm Flows winter route and that was easy compared to what you guys just did. All that loose talus/scree/rock was seriously suspect. Good choice roping up. Way to go for it and staying alive.
YESSS MOUNT ST HELENS!! SO EXCITED TO WATCH :D I LOVE UR VIDEOS
Your videos are awesome, thanks for the great content!
That view was unreal 😮 also congrats on the chomps sponsorship🙌 i dont hike without them!
I summited St Helen’s last month. The crater rim is gorgeous and the 360 views are insane
@11:25 you are in the vicinity of the buried end of the old spirit lake highway turnaround. Remember as a kid driving up too that turnaround and the view of Helens. Family had a cabin on the lake over by Harmony falls. I know for a fact there is a box of Legos that are buried with the cabin. Sad that there was a little family of chipmunks that lived in the tree just behind the cabin... long gone.
Amazing job guys. Insane idea. Thank you.
love your vids man, youngest mountaineer out there. i want to start my journey soon aswell and youve been a big help. keep posting 💯
Unbelievable amount of force to turn that mountain to gravel
awesome channel! love tis vid and all the super sketch with it. keep going for it, Ryan. Sending lots of love from Bermuda!❤❤❤❤❤
Yassssss, New video lets goooooooo! You've inspired me to attempt to summit Kilimanjaro in 2026, so if you want to join let me know.
Seeing this reminds me that my climb up lassen volcano is a cakewalk compared to the other cascade volcanoes. I admit I underestimated mount lassen but I did it! I miss those days when I was fit.
What you found at 5:09 was probably a geodesy station run by UNAVCO. It measures how the surface of the mountain changes over time; the mountain shrinking or bulging indicates how the magma is flowing. There's probably a seismometer in it as well
Great display of decision making out in sketchy terrain! This was sick, keep it up. I've been thinking about ascending Worm Flows in the summer, I hope it'll be a little easier than this ;)
Diabolical! Great video!
This one had me sitting on the edge of my couch more than the Everest climb video. Bruv.
That’s awesome man. Saint Helen’s has such a menace history. Love your shit man.
Amazing place ❤❤❤
Bro, I got anxiety attacks just looking at all those loose rocks around you. Damn!! Good call on bailling when you did. Cheers.
Hey Ryan, great videos, really makes me feel like I'm there, climbing too. I've been wondering, have you heard of Mallory and Irvine? If so what's your opinion on their climb?
I did that climb minus the rim job. 2005 March when i summited there was a small eruption!!!
