I got this card for less than £100 in 2020 (before the gpu prices went crazy!) and it’s served me really well. I’m more than happy to continue using it until a really good deal on a newer graphics card comes along! Also, first video I’ve seen from you, good stuff! Reminds me of the RandomGaminginHD channel 🙂
@vebzzz2765 It was one of those 'Used Like New' offers from Amazon Warehouse, it was £93 in 2020 but it was brand new from what I could tell since everything was still sealed (maybe customer return where they just changed their mind but never used it)
This is the card i went with before the prices went through the roof, i got it brand new for 200 euro, which, in 2019, wasn't bad at all, and yes, it is still in my rig to this day, paired with a i5 6500, the platform starts to show its age, but a new rig is on its way, and i will transfer the gpu over, no need to upgrade for the kind of games that i play. You don't always need the top of the line to have fun, some people were mocking me for buying this card, but i said the same thing and they seemed to agree that, after i showed them what this card can do, it is a pretty descend option for casual gaming.
@@uslolmemes5272 yes it is worthy and a considerable upgrade only if you're fine with 6GB vram and ready to compromise all those eye candy settings by a little. I bought this because I don't want any used GPUs and a new GPU is costly as you know. So this 16s matched my pocket and also I am happy with the increase in fps (few games gained like more than 60% fps)

Great video! I have the MSI Gaming X model. 4 years old and still has some bang. I noticed you recommend Zero Dawn be played at high with this GPU. I played that game on the same GPU. Benchmark is not presentable to the actual gameplay. You need to tone down most stuff to medium to get that 60 FPS mark.
Got one of these last week, paired with a humble Xeon e5 2650 v4. Full pc for 220€. it handles everything in 1080p and lots in 2K. I’m am overwhelmed by the amount of games it handles, and it does it well! It’s insane to me how much it can do for the money

This is a VR monster! I bought it during the night (Edit: height) of the pandemic. Almost $400! But I'm not mad, because it exceeded my expectations! Without overclocking! 120fps on most VR games. I changed the thermal paste and cleaned the fans, and at idle it's only 95 degrees Fahrenheit. Sometimes it goes over 150 degrees Fahrenheit, but you really have to push it. I don't anticipate having to replace it for a few years.
Man, me to dude. It was literally at the height of the gpu shortage and I just wanted a pc so badly so with my dumb brain I bought the gpu for I think $380, thinking it was a good deal then I realize a year later the gpu was literally cheaper than I initially thought it was. Now I'm thinking of selling it and buy myself an rx 6700 xt lol. But it was a good gpu nonetheless, played a ton of games with it, and lots of it were AAA games.

i have that game and never played it maybe ill try it and see. Ive not had trouble with many games unless the developers dont optimize their games like cod, rising storm 2, cyberpunk all horrid in terms of optimizations.

Been using it since 2020. (2024-September rn) Barely did any maintenances unless the pc gets the overheating since I'm just a lazy guy. Still holding up whenever I play Apex, Warframe, etc. Its not the greatest, but def not the worst. Can be an option for those looking for a decent option nowadays tho
This card is starting to show its age even the TI editions. I have this card on a second build which I like to have 2 PCs one high end and one Mid range but man I really hope AMD and an Nvidia come out soon with their budget ones if we can even say that word anymore lol. The midrange GPU market has pretty much vanished in the past 3 years😅 According to some rumours, TSMC have received a massive order from Intel, so it looks like the 2nd gen Battlemage GPUs are on their way.
but for future games especially the ones on UA5, this card is pretty much done for, I'm expecting it to run below 60 fps even at low settings, I'm already seeing that with titles like hogwarts and dead space.
I will try. But the problem is they just aren't good value here in the UK. They only cost a tiny bit less than the 1660, and at that point, you may as well spend the extra money on the 1660.
The 1660 Ti with 3 display ports is OK (barely) running 5760 x 1080. I can't get past 60 FPS. Unigine Valley benchmark it won't break 50 FPS in 5760 x 1080, EVE Online PEGS the GPU useage at 100%, but can't break 60 FPS with Quality settings.
Lower your resolution man what are you doing lmao. This card is for 1080p. Why on earth would you even want to game at 4k+? Horrible performance on even the highest end stuff.
@@grantpaterson1016 ah, my mistake. On newer GPUs it would potentially be an issue. It is something I’ve thought about, if needs be, I’ll upgrade to something like the 5800X3D or something similar.
The 5600 is already a much better CPU than the 5600G, with the obvious caveat that it doesn't have an integrated GPU, whereas the 5600G has a very decent integrated GPU which is great (for the price) for playing a lot of older games and some newer games.

Ewww, gross. This card would be fine as a low-end card if it's cheap enough. It's basically a GTX 1060, which was a great card in its day... But it's 2023 now. AMD 6000 series and Intel A700 series cards are much, much better than this out-dated junk. You don't want to skimp out on your graphics card. If you can possibly afford it, an RX 6600 or A750 is the bare minimum that you should be considering, especially for a new system. As an upgrade for an older system, a 1660 could make sense... for the right price...
You sounded like a spoilt kid who pretty much built PCs with mummy's credit card. No offense but not everyone has the budget to buy the latest GPU especially market price is high on different countries. I'm happy with my current Gaming laptop that runs on GTX1080Ti and still runs good till this day.
Its like 15 to 20% faster than a 1060. And for the price paid for here, its alright. But I agree, the gtx 1660 is not a very good deal all the time. The 1660s is quite a bit better. Or get a used rx6600. However in some circumstances the 1660 would make sense.

A rx6600, sometimes even an xt can be had used for not that much more than a 1660. I think the issue here is that a lot of sellers bought some of these older cards when graphics prices were through the roof. Many have no point of reference for how little the card is currently worth. All they know is they bought it for a mind boggling $250 or something. Someone selling an Rx 6600 will very much know the new market price for it, which is currently less than $200- Brand New. While I don’t think the 1660 cards are “junk” i do think their useful longevity is questionable. You have to keep that in mind if you will be playing newer games. I wouldn’t buy a 1660 unless it was really inexpensive, like $50-$60. Maybe around $80 for a super. That’s about all they’re worth compared to the used prices of newer cards.

Changing the motherboard and CPU for a newer platform will be a huge upgrade to your gaming performance.
nice, i got a similar setup. i5 6600k @ 4.10ghz with 1660 works well with any games, although i might upgrade it to an i7

The 5600g and and a GTX 1660 is my setup. I'm quite happy with it. If you wanna play in 1080p high settings you don't need more stuff.

For me, it runs horribly, i don't know if you have a Ti or super. But for regular 1660 runs, vr like a quest 1

Used the heck out of my GTX 1660 (ASUS TUF Gaming 3 fan edition) for a while till I got my NVIDIA RTX 3060 I now have. Great video.

Do you think the 5600G is holding any frames back? Doesn't the fact it is Gen 3 interfere with the potential?
I don't see why it would hold it back. The 1660 has a PCIe gen 3 x16 interface.

+ add 110mhz at core clock
+ add 800mhz at memory clock

If you're still happy with the performance. Keep it for a bit. The 4060 isn't the best value GPU. A 6700 XT would be a better option
