He goes against the grain (I.e. "The Establishment" of any kind, editors, etc...). How many authors can "write" a white blank page in their novel like he did? Editors hated it, but it is descriptive of his work: a white blank void. At best, contemporary writers will write experimentally with one sentence as a chapter, or incorrect grammar, but a blank page? Truly inspirational. NOTE: Bret loves novels and doesn't believe in their demise.

American Psycho is officially my favourite BEE book. Although I can't wait to start reading The Rules of Attraction. A very misunderstood writer

Ellis let me down, I remember reading American Psycho in High School and LTZ shortly after, and they've always stuck with me. Lunar Park I had mixed feelings about but I gave him a pass. But Imperial Bedrooms was just awful. Unreadable.
