First time listening to a Bret Ellis piece. I really can identify with his narrative. It's refreshing to hear a voice out there that can balance political beliefs with the everyday activities we carry around in the working world. It has a great common sense appeal.

Red Shift A woman friend of mine was ill recently. She ended up spending a lot of time in bed " bingeing on CNN and MSNBC." She emerged from her bedroom last week in such an enraged state at Trump that there is absolutely no talking with her about anything that even slightly deviates from her rabid hatred of him. Correlation? I was left thinking that this is the power of brainwashing.

Or maybe New York and San Francisco should not buy food for just a week. Let’s see who goes broke first. I’m an organic farmer and everything I sell goes to just one small New York restaurant. It’s a two way street and yours an ignorant statement.

I actually had a conversation a decade ago with a liberal activist and said, "Look, you think of yourself as liberators, but you are starting to sound like oppressors. That's a cycle you want to avoid. The oppressed shouldn't become oppressors. They should want more freedom and more tolerance, not less." But, well, let's see with the decade or so of life I have left what this works out to be.

Honest? From the left? Not gonna happen. They're hardened in tantrum mode now. Trump put them in a meltdown they're unable to recover from. Compulsive lying and over-dramatization is all they can do anymore - it's a solidified reaction pattern on the self destruct setting, where they no longer own themselves.

Brilliant. I agree that it is the Trump aesthetic that bothers a lot of people. I, however, find it delightful. The President's press conferences have turned into a Dean Martin roast and our President is Frank Sinatra. Cheap, vulgar and highly, highly effective. The only thing that could make it better is if he smoked and drank whiskey.

Interesting essay. I have to say though that it is not mysogeny to reject one particular individual female candidate who was a known liar, who had no platform, no message or policy, and who sailed along in total confidence that she was entitled to the presidency simply because...... there is mysogeny but it was not in play with Hillary Clinton. In fact quite the opposite. The number of people who voted for her only because she was a woman and for no other reason is not what you call mysogeny. Don't keep repeating that. It only encourages Hillary and her reeling supporters to avoid facing reality- she sucked as a candidate no matter what genital apparatus she sported.

There is palpable irony in what he views as "disruptors" as he describes them and their political leanings and it's correlative apotheosis during the time of this video when taken in view of what political disruption really actually is when it's taken out of a conceptual understanding brought to the real tangible world, such as we are witnessing now. It's almost quaint how naive it all seems.

Horror and revulsion is not about being a snowflake, or moral superiority. It is an honest evolutionary-based adrenaline reaction to an untenable and dangerous event. If these people weren't so narcissistic, ego-inflated and repressed, maybe they could understand that. But not, reality must be repressed for some literary-artistic vision of political artifice.
