Part of the issue is that teachers are afraid to confront parents about their terribly behaved children because the parents might get offended. Let them get offended. Let them be parents and deal with their awfully behaved children. It’s not a teacher’s job to deal with continuous behavior problems. It’s the parents’ issue. But all some of these parents do is make excuses for themselves and their child bad behaviors. It’s a game they play and that they teach their children to play. It’s like teachers are expected to teach the parents how to 🤬 parents. It’s sad. Society is screwed.

That case was different. Those parents gave their child A GUN for his birthday. They knew he was troubled. The DAY IT HAPPENED he was pulled from class for making a drawing of death, blood, and a gun, with "help me" written on it. The parents were called to the school to deal with the situation they blew it off and in texts to him afterward - LAUGHED it off. They were asked to take him home - i.e. GET HIM OUT of the school - and get him counseling. They REFUSED. He stayed in school - with no indication anyone searched him for weapons or asked where his gun was.
THAT is why those parents were charged. They were DIRECTLY responsible for those deaths. No, every time a shooting happens the parents are NOT responsible - parents can't control most things their kids do. All they can do is raise them right and be a good influence.

Ok ok I know it’s easy to blame the parents and I agree that it could be somewhat the parents fault. They are parents everywhere that really lack on taking care of their children’s wellbeing and emotional being. Bc there had to be signs of psychosis or a neurological disorder if either were present. But I think parents of teens and teenagers know that at that age, it’s very difficult to know how to emotionally honest with themselves let alone others or their PARENTS. A lot of teenagers aren’t super open with parents and that’s normalized. No parent expects or even considers their child will become a school shooter. But children get ideas and withdraw from family and parents sometimes think “let’s give him space”. My point is that the parents shouldn’t be harassed or questioned by the public. We have no idea what’s going on with them except that they are grieving immensely too. I really think our societal need to keep trauma and mental issues in the quiet and in the shadows is a problem. Kids aren’t taught to emotionally regulate in school. For many of them, not at home either. Really only in media, which isn’t mainstreamed. Gun and emotional regulation support are , I think, very crucial to moving towards less shootings.
